Good day sir. How can i delete the withdrawn chart from my fea furuno ecdis? Because i want to delete some withdrawn chart but when i go to the REMOVE CHART menu it doesn't appear on directory.

It is nice video but I do completely dissagre that sometimes it is impossible to avoid crossing the safety contour value. If you cross the safety contour with your ship the alarm will pop up on the ECDIS. So in the case you have plenty water under the keel is ok, but what if you run aground? You will have no alarm on the ECDIS since the alarm was already triggered. In this case there is no difference between having an ECDIS or paper chart. Imagine entering the port with with very high range of tides, if you do not set the safety contour correctly in many cases you will cross the safety contour because the depths on the ECDIS does not include heigh of tide. Secondly if you set safety contour on 12meters and the contours on the charts are present on 5-10-15-20m the ECDIS will display your contour on 15m. What should be done in the situation you pointed? The safety contour should be lowered to "open" more available water and the user should manually draw a line along the safety depth values. When drawing the line "danger" options should be pressed so whenever the line is crossed this will trigger the alarm. I do hope you actually teach people the correct way of doing passage plan during mentioned training. Best regards Dawid
