Good video Dylan, I agree with the 30" rows. The shot from the grain cart unloading on the go draw bar was really cool, and good drone shots too.

Here in southern Indiana we tried beans in 30,15 and drilled 7.5 apart and they all did really close to the same yield seemed like the only real difference was in the early growing the more narrow it is the faster it bushed out to cover between the rows but end the end it made better sense to use 15 in rows cause our kinze planter could plant out beans and corn with the same planter

I think the 30/15/7.5 inch row discussion is like you said depends on where an what kinda ground. Or if you have the ability an or money to be able to have multiple planters. If I was wanting to know the best I would pick farms an plant different widths on each farm three different years in a row one on 7.5 one on 15 an one on 30 an compare. An I know that could vary depending on condition to each year but I think if you can do it on some of your better ground it would give you a pretty good idea on which works best an maybe do this over so many years on every farm you have

We like cutting at an angle too. And we tried both 15 and 30 this year... we will find out which we like soon. We've done 15 already. But we will see 30 sooner or later

Corn dog likes school as much as I used too 😂. I like the 30" beans too, just go to make sure they are a 30" row bean. If they ain't, they won't bush out enough. Your 15" & 30" looked like they did about the same, on ours the 15" where 10 bushels better. But with how the weather was this year, it's kind of hard to tell. I liked the draw bar footage, it's a different but cool shot

I was going to try 30 inch beans once and was talked into either 15 or 7.5. So I ended up drilling at 7.5. Most are drilled at 7.5" around here but some on 10" rows. Best of luck on planning next year.

still not found a draper 25 ft.. i was just watching a video 2 years ago where you were saying you wanted a 25ft draper. would the 9400 work with a 30ft or you need 9600 for that size?..i was thinking you could run at the speed you running now but with 8ft more with and the draper might even out..???

I like trial on the beans

I like 15 in best planted with my split row 7000 jd with brush meters at 110000 population. I added variable rate with hydraulic drive precision planting. 110000 on better ground and 160000 on sand ridges. Best yield so far was110 bpa although can be 8 bpa to nothing on sand ridges with no rain.

In theory, 30” beans will bush out more and produce more per unit of seed planted. But weeds… the chemistry isn’t perfect and I believe you will get more weeds on 30”. How I plant is going to be completely different from field to field, based on data I’ve collected over decades. Beans were on my eat ground this year, and organic no till on 20” with a 200k pop netted 72 bpa. I had entire 100+ acre fields that did over 100. 200 is a really high population for me. I’ve learned that beans are like corn in that extra ears/pods usually detracts from the performance of the individual ears / pods. I want good ears and pods loaded with product, not more volume of mediocre ones. God bless you buddy. Hope you came out ok this year.

How was the weeds in the 15 inch versus the 30 I always noticed less weed pressure in the 15

My personal preference is 30”. I like spraying them and my opinion look better. The UT data is that 15” will normally yield 1-5 bushel more per acre. I would love to set up on 20” rows. I think that is the magic number. You need to do a field in 7.5”, 15” and 30” next year.

Give corndog a horse and a trailer to go behind it so he can help out with the harvest
