If you keep losing motivation to get back on the rowing machine, use this quick tip to get back on.
And then stay there by looking at your goals and making them easier to hit.
Whether you want to lose weight, get a faster 2K time or get back on the winner's podium, the technique is the same to keep your motivation to row strong.
🔵🔵🔵 SHOWING SUPPORT FOR ROWALONG 🔵🔵🔵
I've been asked a few times about the best way to support what I'm doing. Honestly, the best way is just to watch and subscribe using this link: / @rowalong )
More views lead to more views - and I'm really just interested in getting more people on board to RowAlong with. (Make sure to click the notification bell to be alerted when I upload new workouts)
That said, I know that there are some people who want to show their support financially, and as much as I've shied away from giving out links to this before - I've been advised to at least provide the links - to stop someone spoofing me!! So....
Patreon: / rowalong
PayPal: www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_...
But seriously - just keep watching, that's all I ask!!
🔵🔵🔵
This workout is provided as usual WITHOUT MUSIC. If you want music, why not load up another KZfaq tab, or maybe Soundcloud and pick your own tunes. As always, follow me for stroke rate. And I'll keep you company for the row with training tips, technique tips, and my usual general waffle.
For more information about drag factor, the plans and what this is all about, head to www.rowalong.com For more about indoor rowing in general, go to www.indoorrowinginfo.com
See you in the next video.
ℹℹℹℹℹℹ - 2K training paces are based on your current best performance to row 2000m. Set your monitor to 2000m and row it as fast as you can. When you're finished either look at the memory screen for that row, and note the Average /500m pace - or just divide your time by 4 to find that out.
For instance - if you rowed your 2000m in 8:20 - the average pace for 500m is 2:05. It doesn't matter if you started at 1:50 and then slowed down to 2:20 by the end - your average across the whole row is 2:05.
So when I give a pace guide saying "2K + 18 seconds" - that means that you take your 2K time, and add 18 seconds to it (in the above example, 2:05 + 18 = 2:23 pace.) Just be sure to set your monitor so it displays your /500m pace so you can stay on target.
Every time you think you're getting faster, rather than just arbitrarily changing the pace guide - do another 2000m test to find your current 2K average time - and then work from that. ℹℹℹℹℹℹ

Agree with the "shorts, shirt & shoes" part. For me reducing detractions is most important to keep going (no need to set up the machine, but have it ready to go; no commute to the gym, etc). Especially if you have a rower at home, there is so little you have to do to start a session. Fall out of your bed and instead of hopping into the shower directly, make a stop over at the rower. Ideally have a rowing plan so you don't waste time to think about what to do today.

Welcome back! Covid hit my family a few weeks ago, and though I wasn't affected, I stopped rowing while taking care of hubby and kids. I finally hit the gym yesterday and I plan to begin rowing soon.

I had to push myself these past week too. Not sure what happened to motivation but I strapped in last night for 30 minutes. Glad I did. Hope you’re feeling better and your family is well.

Great to see your return and I hope you're back to full fitness soon. I did a row today on a C2 in a hotel gym where I'm staying and realised how I've come to depend on your vids for maintaining stroke rates during a session. Looking forward to some new vids hopefully soon.

Great to see you back!! Losing my rowjo a little due to putting in max meters for the VTC. Made my 2 million season meters today, but it was a grind. I’ll keep plugging away until the 31st…..but wondering if I’m actually sabotaging my fitness goals by rowing even when I’m tired. I want to race….but then these challenges come up and I get caught up in putting in lots of distance over working on my 2K time. Thank you for your continued content….I rarely row without you.

Thank you for this awesome video. My rowing machine didn’t look like the ones in the video it’s just that I haven’t been hitting it consistently since I got my booster shot before new years. I was going 4 to 5 times a week and I went down to one or two so tonight I found my shirt my shorts and my shoes and I just went on the tower for 30 minutes. Felt great! Your timing was impeccable thanks again John!!

Welcome back Sir! Hope you are feeling ready to do that 10mins tomorrow. Half Marathon done today, first one in ages, getting on the erg every second day but no workouts since 30/30. Struggling with work, college and kids activities plus want to get back running too so all about balance!
