Again, I learned something that I head only caught hints of as I knit and thought about knitting.

I think I'll try that for top down set-in sleeve shoulder seams rather than picking up sts for the fronts. Looks neater.

This is a great video! Would you by any chance be able to explain how this same technique can be used for seed stitch? Specifically looking for a cast on to bind edge of a seed stitch. Thank you!

I'm failing to grasp the difference between the kitchener st. and the 'real graft'. Are they the same thing just a different name? Ty!

Kitchener stitch is a specific process for producing a graft, usually for a sock toe, where the pieces aren't lying flat, but are hanging vertically, and you aren't working from the RS of both pieces. It's a label given by North Americans to sock toe grafting during WWI, when grafting became the preferred method of closing a sock toe, over the three-needle BO. It's a label given "in honor" of Lord Kitchener, who was the commander of the British Forces during WWI, when there was lots of sock knitting for soldiers. Grafting can be done using different processes, all producing the same result.

@@RoxanneRichardson I feel like I’ve always worked Kitchener from the right side.

@@lingualunatic The RS is facing out on both pieces, but the piece hanging in back has its WS facing your as you work the graft.
