From the1969 DOT LP album Yesterday When I Was Young produced by Joe Allison written by Charles Aznavour , Georges Garvarentz and Herbert Kretzme. released in may 1969 this version became his biggest hit up to that time on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, peaking at No. 9 in August 1969, and indeed, it became his only top 40 pop hit, peaking at No. 19. great vinyl quality sound and stereo separation and also this is one of his best songs.

This song ...how many of us lived this? Made a lot of mistakes in my life, and when youre young it always feels like its all about you, now, at 67, i know its not about me, its about JESUS, its about Truth, Love, Givinging, Forgiving... its not what you can get, but what you can give , help those in need..children of all kinds.. It all goes back to GOD I wasted so much of my life, im glad THE LORD IS PATIENT..💞🙏

I saw Roy Clark in concert in La Mirada, California, and at the time 78 years old, just had a hip replacement, and could still play like his younger days, introduced on stage by pilot Chuck Yeager

Yesterday when I was young The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue. I teased at life as if it were a foolish game, The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame. The thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I planned I always built to last on weak and shifting sand. I lived by night and shunned the naked light of the day And only now I see how the years ran away. Yesterday when I was young So many happy songs were waiting to be sung, So many wild pleasures lay in store for me And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see. I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out, I never stopped to think what life was all about And every conversation I can now recall Concerned itself with me and nothing else at all. Yesterday the moon was blue And every crazy day brought something new to do. I used my magic age as if it were a wand And never saw the waste and emptiness beyond. The game of love I played with arrogance and pride And every flame I lit too quickly, quickly died. The friends I made all seemed somehow to drift away And only I am left on stage to end the play. There are so many songs in me that won't be sung, I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue. The time has come for me to pay for Yesterday when I was young...

Remembering Roy Clark born on April 15, 1933. He was an American singer, musician, and television presenter. He is best known for having hosted Hee Haw, a nationally televised country variety show, from 1969 to 1997. He had hit songs as a pop vocalist (e.g., "Yesterday, When I Was Young" and "Thank God and Greyhound"), and his instrumental skill had an enormous effect on generations of bluegrass and country musicians. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Clark

If this wonderful ballad doesn't make you introspective, most likely nothing will. I look back on my life and see so clearly the parts of it I've wasted. Regrets will eat you alive if you let them. someone once said "Youth is too precious to be wasted on the young".

Is there any love that's not a destructive kind? All loves are destructive. Love destroys. However, nothing can be built without destroying what was old and building anew upon. A stronger one. No more a weak child in constant fear of losing love.
