I think I understand the plot & kinda like it? It's not a commercial movie + not a genre for every one to like. If it were an English film everyone would praise it but if you're not into this kinda genre you might find it boring. I read a novel like this once & that was beautiful & very touching. If you don't understand any of it then maybe it's just not for you.

Let me explain Roy. Arjun gets idea by watching news, he then meets Jaq, uses her character in the story and Ranbir is him. As he falls in love with Jaq so does the movie character and that's why the scene of Ranbir just rowing, as he was also clueless at this point. Then he watches her movie and takes the first step towards a girl cause he loves her and make it's a love story. So in the end she accepts him cause she's also a movie writer and see's right through him. Good idea and plot, bad presentation. Really some Hollywood level stuff. But failed to click.

I totally like the story as well as the cinematography. But audience couldn't click with this movie cause it was grim and slow. But honestly it is a subtle movie with zero commercial. Paradigm at its best which most bollywood audience can't comprehend.

This film had some potential to become a great exceptional movie in this cleché Bollywood culture. Meta-cinematic genre is totally untouched by Bollywood industry. Well, the film was not scripted well and become a trash. Also, most of the comments are about they didn't understand the movie. This shows that our audiaces are still amature to understand these stuffs. Also I think, yogi baba isn't that much intellectual to understand this movie completely...

When I went with my friend for this movi back then, my friend was so excited about it coz of the songs n all.. But for the entire length of the flim he was like what the hell is going on.. N after movi he never ever talked about this again. You should have seen the disappointed look on his face. N well I had a good sleep in the theater.

It's actually a good movie, this is one bollywood movie with a very different concept. I felt a bit surprised when I saw this movie but I also knew in my mind that this movie will flop in India and it did. I can guess because people here like linear story telling without using much of their brains. It is a love story but not like boy meets girl and blah blah. Its a love story but also explores the writer's/creative's mind. The fact that this movie flopped shows why Interstellar and Inception never got hit in India. It's because people here don't use their brains much.

I think our Indian Audiences and even you doesn't appreciate movies like this. We are so reckless and inpatient that we only appreciate films like Simmba, Dabangg where there is one item song and only unusual action sequences. Movie Like Roy where a movie director interweaves an imaginary story, gives it a vision and narrates throughout is a visual treat. I haven't seen any movie like this. We only want that Bollywood should progress but we as the audience are not accepting what should be. Love Arjun, Jacqueline and Ranbir in this flick.

In contrast to the mainstream dumb masala bollywood movies with little to no thought put behind it Roy was actually pretty deep and poetic And let's not forget the movie feels so different than the rest They tried something new and unique But we didn't even try to understand it or give it a chance. Because whatever we fail to understand is bad right 😂

I never had the courage to watch this movie. But literally tried hard to understand this movie by this vid now. I am still not sure what happened.

Basically Roy is a fictional character. He is just a figment of Arjun Rampal’s imagination. Arjun Rampal is the writer. Basically what happens in Arjun Rampal’s life, is what he reflects in his script. For example when Arjun falls in love, Roy also falls in love. Then Roy betrays Tia (his love interest) and steals her painting. Jacqueline reads his book and believes Arjun will also betray her like Roy did with his love interest in the script. Jaqueline leaves him and Arjun is unable to finish his script. Finally as Arjun realizes his love for Jaqueline, he goes back to her. The same is reflected in his script, Roy realizes his love for Tia and returns his painting to her and goes back to her. At the end both couples recoucnile (the real and the fictional one)

This movie is beyond indian audience’s brain capacity. Thats why films like inception dont get made her and then everyone trolls bollywood. And when you ask them their reason for trolling, they reply with “I didnt understand”. So because you dont understand something, it makes it a bad film??

When the audience focus on movies with absurd ideas, understanding this movie is tough!! Really some Hollywood ideas but failed among the audiences!! Not the movies fault, the perception of audiences need to be developed

I think its also the execution of the film. The idea and the concept was definitely great, but the execution is what failed it. The Audience in India also doesnt really have developed taste, when it comes to cinema.

@@putwalk8883 Worst part of Bollywood is..............it does not tackle common man and common man's life. Why Pakistani Drama serials while in 2 digit episodes(mostly less than 30) are more popular than India's DHUM TANANANANAAN. because it has a story one can relate to. Hero is shopkeeper, businessman, doctor, salesman, student, peon, common soldier, etc. while in india's drama serial the whole family is BILLIONAIRE business related family where story is either almost non-existent or it is stretched so thin that we audience do not give a shit anymore.
