Toney is still fighting as well, and has a fight this year. Like Jones, he is a shadow of his former self; yes, jones relied more on his athletic ability than toney, but it goes to show you that when both lost their athletic ability, both of their performances went downhill fast. Both Jones and Toney need to retire, way past their primes.

That was pretty well known actually. What wasn't as known was that James ballooned to over 220lbs before he fought Jones. He was terribly out of shape going into camp, essentially he had fat camp and not training camp.

Ray Robinson would have tested Roy's chin and Hagler would have as well. We all know what happened to RJJ once he started to slow down and his opponents were able to catch up to him. A weak chin is a weak chin and a weak chin never wins against a poweful punch. SRR had the hand speed, the timing and accuracy to connect with Roy and he also had the power to put him away. Hagler was an animal in his prime and had a relentless attack. His ability to switch stances in the middle of a combination would have thrown Roy off and his jab would have a key to the fight. A prime Marvin Hagler could brawl, box from the outside, was a great infighter and had the footwork to cut off the ring on Jones. He would have given Roy a lot of trouble and I'm not talking about the version of him that had almost 70 fights and faced Sugar Ray Leonard. A young Hagler was a whole different story. I agree that RJJ was one of the most physically gifted athletes of all time and that goes a long way in boxing but the other two were also physically gifted in their own right but had more overall skills to bring to the table. I can't say who would have won out of the 3 in any given match up between them but I do think it's ludicrous to put Roy above the other two so clear cut.

The best non-heavyweight fight of all time would most certainly be against, Robinson and Leonard, no question. Prime Jones is the greatest single talent since Ray Robinson.

Its an excuse him and his fans love to use. The reason y he struggled to make the weight wasn't because he suddenly grew out of the division, Roy was naturally bigger than James. It was that James didn't have the discipline in between fights. His manager Jackie Kallen would have him fight every 6-8 weeks or so. Because she knew if hed have any sort of layoff that he'd either gain a bunch of weight, or he'd get caught up in thr streets. He actually had a 4 month layoff leading into the Jones fight. Which nowadays isn't a layoff at all, but for James it was. He went into camp at over 220 lbs
