England had a team full of athletes and pace. Croatia had a team full of footballers and good technique. England's problems runs far deeper than just this loss. You could see in the game England do not have any midfielders with great technique and vision like Modric or Rakitic. They don't have an intelligent, skillful player like Perisic. Instead, English coaches and pundits help fast-track the youngsters with the most pace and strength, with those two being the two most redeeming qualities they look for. In the game England were running around 100mph the first half so no wonder they were shattered in the second. This is not an intelligent way to play footy. You can't win anything without a midfield or at least someone in there that can hold the ball, retain possession, and has vision.

Yeah, Keane was spot on. The English with our history should have been optimistically reserved, rather than riding a giant wave of optimism like we always do. Roy Keane was quite right, too many Englishmen got way to exited over beating teams we were red hot favourites to beat. As someone else pointed out, in 330 minutes of knockout football we had a total of 5 shots on target, one was a pen another was a free kick. Can you imagine what would of happened if we had got to the final. France would have slaughtered us, they wouldn't have been happy with 1 or2 nil they would have wanted to humiliate the old enemy and to be honest and it hurts me to say this, I could see France winning 4,5 or even6 nil. Honestly this is one of the poorest England teams I've seen and I'm 57, We have one of the best strikers in world football and he had to come back into midfield to get a kick. The defence, namely Walker and Stones gave away 2 goals a Sunday league manager would have subbed them for. The only players who came away with any credit were Maguire, Pickford and Trippier. Kane can be excused because he never had no service. Henderson, Young and Sterling may as well have sat by me. The rest were at best average. Overall a very poor effort and Keane was right.

Croatia was more near to win 3-1 than England equalize. They simple were just better.

I sat watching the England games and media coverage thinking someone had spiked my coffee with LSD. England are a decent young team who overcame a few tiddlers on their way to the semis. One slightly wayward shot against the bar was the difference between the teams in the penalty shoot out against an appalling Colombian team. Having watched International football since 1960, I can't believe the mass hysteria of the English public and media. England did well for half an hour against Croatia but then it was like Boy Scouts against the SAS. Trippier's free kick skimmed the top of Loveren's head in the wall and went in. If he had had dandruff the ball would have been deflected over the bar. Once again it's hope for the future.

People don't realise the english have been doing that for decades. That's why all the talk they did at these euros 2020 was nothing new. The pundits tried to word it differently this time round. But they clearly were already talking about the final when they were still playing the last 16

England beat only one half-decent team in Colombia. We English win one game then think we can win a tournament. We beat two very poor teams in the group stages and suddenly 'it's coming home'. We chose to take the easier route and struggled. Southgate should have stuck to his convictions. When picking the squad he hurt a few feelings. But when players like Kane were clearly struggling he substituted sterling instead? Possibly terrified of the media backlash of dropping him. Maybe he should have kept Kane for a last twenty minutes cameo. Loftus cheek got a good review but we never saw him again. We didn't have a Gerrard or a scholes type player to produce a killer pass. Our tactics seemed to revolve around our pace, but when the players tired we did nothing but hoof the ball forward, where as Croatia with their superior midfield out passed us. Well done lads but Southgate needs to be tougher. If the big name players aren't performing, drop them.

We do get ahead of ourselves with everything and I don't disagree with Keane. Its good to be positive...but cautiously optimistic not arrogant. We have a very young team and actually they played some good games but were not consistent. This year there have been surprises...eg Japan. It is a shame but we should see it for what it is...we did better this year than we have for a while....

The midfield players and the back four spent most their time either 12 o'clock loop to lone striker Sterling or 6 o'clock back pass to the goalkeeper. The rest were not sure why had the ball or what to do with it. England will never make it if they keep playing that way. With all that training and money, they should play a bit better than pub football.

looking back at England on the World Cup, we really weren't that good... we got an easy route to the semi's. we almost drew with Tunisia lol and Panama we allowed them to score their first ever World Cup GOAL. lmao. we lost to Belgium twice. and we only scored against Croatia from a free kick, but in the end still lost to them.... nearly all of our goals were from set pieces. no skill at all really.... the penalty against Colombia was debatable and if few hadn't of got it we would of lost as Colombia scored last minute.... I think we have a good team of young lads that play well together and have a good time but if were talking some serious football we are no way on the level as Belgium, Croatia etc put us in another scenario where we play good teams and we will be out quicker than you can cheer on England lmao.... I do like the team ands the hype but looking back now its quite embarrassing. especially how our fans react.....

Congratulations to Croatia you are a fantastic football team. Well done England for getting to the semi's. I see by the comments a lot of people don't like to see England do well but I'm not one of them. Not many english people expected them to get this far so they exceeded everyone's expectations and performed very well. A lot of haters on here from all over the world but how did there teams get on did they get out of the group stages? or did they even qualify for the world cup?. Personally I think England have been one of the best teams in the tournament taking Croatia to extra time and let's not forgot Croatia beat Argentina 3-0 who where one of the tournament favourites. Why is everyone saying the English are arrogant because some said they should beat Croatia? They had a good chance you can't expect to get into a semi final and say Croatia will win as this would be negative from a English fans point of view. Just sounds to me all you haters are jealous of England because they got further then your teams. Good luck to Croatia in the final as it looks to be a exciting one as you and France have some real world class players.
