Did you forward this to Roy's son? Roy had an unusual, in some ways unique voice, but Glen Campbell used to love to sing his songs. He did Dream Baby on Shindig (it's on youtube) and Cryin' was on his Gentle on my Mind album and as an old man, when his voice was quite different, he put it on his PBS special; both are on KZfaq. I only mention this because if you go to Nashville I personally think it would be great if you could connect w Glen's old bandmate, the great musician & producer Carl Jackson, who plays at the Station Inn on Monday nights; I don't know him personally, just through Twitter, but to me it would be awesome if he could work with you in any way. Connections w so much history are nice. There are so many people in Nashville who value live music and are connected in some way to so much of the music that you like--I guess they can be said to be all sort of like the heirs to the Chet Atkins magic. (Chet was an exec & producer at RCA when they acquired Elvis's contract and one of the great guitarists in pop music history.) Do you know who Roger Miller was? Roger was a contemporary of Glen and Willie Nelson and Roy etc, a singer-songwriter who had some smashes of his own and a lot of songs that others made famous--like "I Catch Myself Cryin'" I think that is a great song for you. Songs that are plainly emotional--up or down--seem to me like good ones for you. I LIKED what you did with Back to Black because you didn't try to sound like Amy, who has that punch-in-the-face belting voice--no one could out-Amy Amy. Your version was more plaintive and so it became your own song--in fact I had to look it up to remember whose song it was, which is crazy because I love Amy! Speaking of heartbreak songs, Lonnie Johnson's "Another Night to Cry" would be a perfect song to do with a master guitarist like Carl Jackson because the guitar part is hard and your voice would make the song into something else. I wonder how many more cryin' songs I can think of. Here is a video of Willie, Glen and Roger Miller, with the songs "Uncloudy Day" and "Old Friends," both very beautiful. It was a tremendous job and that's a difficult one because of the range. (I try it and can get all the notes except that last highest one.) Less difficult but also true to Orbison: Ricky Van Shelton doing Pretty Woman.

As a teenager and in my early 20s,I worked with and for Roy, both in and out of the recording industry. A kind, shy, unassuming man and in the many times I was with him on tour I was amazed by the sound that came out of a mouth that barely seemed ever to open much more than a slit!! Ha! Ha!

I am 77 and came to listen to see if anyone could even attempt Roy’s music……what a beautiful job you did! Bravo! Music is huge in my family. I am a singer, my daughter plays three instruments and is a Music Therapist, and my son plays drums trained by the director of music theater in Indiana, so I listen closely to music, and how it is done. I know good music, and this is beyond good! 🎹❤️

My step father was a huge fan of Roy Orbison. I live in Vancouver Canada and in 1980 Orbison performed there in a small venue of about 250 people. The tickets were 13 dollars each... and I thought ... Wow what a great gift for my mother and stepfather. Their anniversary was coming up. I bought them the tickets for their anniversary ... two days later they went to see Roy Obison perform and were blown away... they couldn't stop talking about him and his performance. I only wish I could have gone too! And only $13 dollars a ticket ... I would pay $1300 now. Thank you Elliot for such a great cover, you did Roy proud! I would love to hear you do Crying if you can... Roy Orbison's collaberation with Kadie Lange was epic. I know you can do it even better. Luv ya Elliot.

I saw Roy the Big "O" Orbison live at St. George Leagues club in Sydney Australia in 1983, just 3 years before he left the building. He was F@#&ing MAGNIFICENT!!! The most charismatic performer I have ever seen. He was getting double standing ovations before he even finished the songs. You, young guy, have just drilled it. Hi Elliot. Roy Orbison was one of my idols along with Elvis, Buddy Holly, the Platters and others, when I was in my teens and early twenties. How I remember those days. I have just listened to your rendition of Roy's In Dreams [ 4 times in a row now ] and for me, it was Roy Orbison singing. I didnt know about Roy Orbison…except my mom loved his music…this song touched my heart after my husband passed away…it has comforted me so much.

When I hear this song I think of my departed wife, The lyrics bring me to tears as I think of my Jeannie. I dream of her often and it's understandable since we were together 50 years. Your rendition is spot on with Roy. Good job and that song will always have a special place in my heart. 😢

I've heard so many covers over the years, but this is the only version I've heard which is actually on a par with the original. Excellent world class voice and singing.

Roy Orbison is my all time most favorite singer. I still listen to his music regularly. Your rendition of his songs is fabulous. You are incredible. Your voice has that same beautiful tone that Roy Orbison was privileged to carry as his signature voice. Keep singing his songs and writing your own. Thank you so much. I never saw him live. It would have been my dream, too. I was a little girl when his first song (to me), Crying, was released. I’ve love him ever since. ❤️👋👋

Elliot, I’ve already commented once about this song, but I just can’t stop listening to it. It is so beautiful. I really liked Roy Orbison but for some reason your version has a profound impact on me. Maybe it’s just your amazingly crazy voice I love listening to, or maybe it’s just because of being later in life. I’ve lost both of my parents, and the love of my life as well, over the past few years. This song actually makes me think of them, and wishing I had been a better person in their life. So you bring me to tears with this performance, but they must be good ones, because I can’t get enough of hearing it. Thank you so much my friend. You definitely do it justice. Your voice is addictive and what I wouldn’t give to see you live. You are a beautiful amazing young man. Thank you for what you do. This world is such a better place with you in it. Please, never give up on your dream. You have no limits as to how far you want to go in this world with your talent, and you will always have fans. Please come to the Chicagoland area sometime.

Thank you Elliot for bringing Roy Orbison back to life, your clarity to the lyrics is magnificent miles and miles ahead of the crappy music that is put out these days where the lyrics are barely understandable. Hi Ellliot, thank you for doing this Roy Orbison‘s (one of his greats & my all time fav)… I enjoy singing karaoke but struggled with this one but after watching you, I felt inspired & think I can manage it now… thanks once again… keep it up👍🤗 Not to mention your versatility in covering a pretty wide repertoire of songs (from Elvis, Righteous Brothers, Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Simon Garfunkel & of course my favourite Roy Orbison & the list goes on & on… Oh wow! Perfect!! My brother was a huge fan of Roy Orbison had all his albums..he died aged 42 but passed on that love of Orbison to me and now at 71 hearing this took me staright back to times with my brother thank you! You sound so like him!
