This man, reminds me of my uncle, a Mexican American, marine Corp. Veteran who served in both Korea and Vietnam. A few years ago this man was told he'd only live another 3 days est. Due to an undiagnosed and untreated medical condition. He was offered hospital stay but said "I'd rather die in my own home than a hospital bed." He was found 3 days later, dead in his living room with a cigar put out in the adjacent ash tray to the recliner he sat and died in, with an empty whiskey glass, and a half bottle in his freezer. His fingers crossed together with his hands rested calmly on his chest. He was a stern man with a gold heart. And faced death with as much dignity and pride as he faced life. God Bless these hard men who helped keep this country alive.

I'm anglo and I grew up in a ranching community in South Texas. And, I'll tell you what... if I was heading into battle I'd want to be surrounded by a team of rural Mex-Americans. I have never had tougher or more loyal friends.
@fallback32062 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you! Dedicated, strong, willing, and loyal are the words I would use to describe my Hispanic friends.
@tone210texas2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the good words sir! Not all white folks know about them tough as rugged rancheros that know how to fight and hunt like native American warriors =) the ghetto Hispanics make the great ones like Benavidez look bad until you hear their story. But many hispanics from the Edgewood independent school district in San Antonio, TX were sent to fight n die in Vietnam, while those from Alamo Heights had people in high places helping em dodge the draft. I rode a plane with fellow Texan Master Sargent Benavidez back in the 80's. Best trip I ever took. He signed his book to me as we departed. He showed me the medal he carried in a briefcase. He wore during his speeches and special events only. I carry his memory with me today.

To a man that has survived such an incredible time, he is a person that definitely has earned The Medal Of Honor. I believe that it’s awarded to servicemen that makes it seem impossible to have survived such injuries saving others. Although you were awarded this in 1981, and it is 2020, I hope that you are still with us so that you can read our appreciation for what you did. You are a true hero. A truly brave man. Thank you for all that you did back then, and I’m sure throughout your life. You are to always be honored.

They are not disrespecting the country. They are disagreeing with the systemic failures of a country that says everything is ok. When it's not. America used to be the greatest country in the world. But it's not anymore. The role of a government is to take care of its population. In exchange for the population to provide an equal amount of resources, services manpower etc. But the United States is not taking care of its population. Most of its population live in constant fear from either eventual poverty or violence from either crime or those meant to protect the citizenry and maintain peace. How do you expect your population to react.
