Pairing the (reputable independent investigated and monitored) lonely or elderly or disabled or systemically oppressed or marginalised or recovering with the appropriate children or young adults or middle-aged adults or other seniors in need of whatever we can provide as a group and individually is a *simple yet progressive step* toward the solution that too few are enacting. Unless you have other problems to do with your health why not get a dog you will have to walk your dog and in doing so it will get you out and about people will start saying hello try and stick to the same route so you meet with mores or less the same people and they will get used to seeing you around and who knows you could find a friend or even a partner to share your life with or go to the same cafe for a coffee people talk more to you if they see you out and about good luck and remember a stranger is just a friend you do not know it takes time but you can make it happen 😉

You don't need to watch them though. They're there to raise awareness. I wouldn't have realised how bad this situation was for the elderly if I didn't see the TV adverts. I'd admit the only ones that are too much are the 'save the african children' ones urging for money donations, which have being going on non-stop for decades. But the elderly have it bad now and not many people care, and we can't just let that slide.
