Roy Underhill is awesome. I've always watched his show. He's taught me so much. Thank You Roy youre the best.

Roy's show was one of my favorite shows to watch, and got me into woodshop class and construction classes in highschool......thank you.

From one end of my career to the next , from a little boy watching the woodrights shop , and now a old man watching wood working for mere mortals . How does this not have a million views

Loved watching Roy when i was younger funny thing i remember him being very acquainted with bandaids and my grandmother always said i would be a fixer of some sorts because i was a kid that would want to watch an adult type program thx Roy for the child hood memories and happy to see ya still have all ya fingers

this guy always amazed me .

This man taught this kid far more useful skills than any school teacher ever did. And he smiled the whole time.

I'd love to see Roy have a "serious" online woodworking class. He obviously knows a lot and has much wisdom for those of us that work with hand tools. Really enjoyed this interview. It shows more the person Roy Underhill, beyond the tv schtick. I took a class at his school several years ago and was struck by the fact that he's a real person. When being photographed with him, he quickly turned it back on, and it was fun!! Great guy. Hope he's around for many more years.

Throughout most of my adult life there has been very few days where I didn't use some of the skills taught to me through the Woodwright's Shop. Thank you Mr. Underhill for the inspiration and the introduction to this wonderful addiction.

The part at the very end about becoming a complete human being really resonated with me.

Way back when my ol pops and I would watch the woodwright and the new yankee on PBS then compare notes, haha. He had a little shop set up in his garage and we spent many hours together building different projects we'd seen on tv. The non electric eclectic has always been my favorite.

Entertaining interview, Roy’s radicalism becomes endearing over the span of it. Jokes aside, it was fun to listen to and thanks to Roy for helping preserve a tradition and providing some intriguing wisdom.

As a hand tool only guy, it's always interesting to listen to Roy discuss the ethical/philosophical reasons behind hand tool woodworking. Steve, PLEASE try to get Paul Sellers on... That would be an amazing interview/discussion.

Enjoyed The Woodwright's Shop from day one. I have him to thank for much of my knowledge on the topic (not to mention the old timers from my past). I also have him to thank for a huge collection of early American woodworking tools, accoutrements, as well as early blacksmithing equipment.

I live in Austria/Europe and started woodworking a few years ago as a Hobby. Rob showed me a lot of handtool tecniques that i am using almost daily. So glad that he's still there and happy. Hug both of you for sharing knowledge 😊

I watched this show when i was a kid. I think maybe the resurgence in hand tool might be me and my fellow late gen xers and early millennials getting into this stuff. I have all but a few tools needed for hewing my own beams.

Awesome interview. I've watched Roy since I was old enough to switch over to PBS after watching my Saturday morning cartoons. Regarding working with guests: Christopher Schwarz episodes were always a treat. Your personalities really play off of one another and feed into one another's humor. My favorite one-off guest was from season 28, the Governor's PoBoy. He was a great guest and it was a really interesting episode. I also took away a lot from the "Who Wrote the Book of Sloyd" episode. It taught me a lot about when my work was good enough and when it was finished--that I was the only one who could make that decision and the quality of my work was set by my standards as much as my skill. A thought: I'd love to see a "Roy Underhill KZfaq Challenge" where woodworking content creators make a video where they complete an entire project in one take over 30 minutes.

I’m not that deep I actually prefer to use hand tools over my power tools ,I feel like I have achieved far more.Roy we love your energy speaking as a Brit who never got to grow up with your guidance.

I have a small shop, around 11x 23... I do have all the electric toys to do any job that comes up... but the tools that take my personal power are my choice for personal projects that I do most...

As a kid I had an older Man watch Me while My Father was working at the Smelter in Anaconda before I was old enough for school. He would keep Me out of mischief by having Me make birdhouses from barn lumber. Yup! G-G

I hope to attend his woodworking school one day. As you said his show is so much more approachable since the tools are more affordable than buying 20k worth of tools like some other how to shows do

I have no idea what made me think of the Woodwright Shop and if Roy Underhill was still alive but thanks a bunch for having this interview. The thing that made him so funny is that he isn't funny.

there is a sliding scale on hand tools and power tools and how long you can live. so how much can you make by living longer as to how much you can make in a short amount of time. Hmmm i choose to live longer.

I remember a line about a punk rocker. That may have been the first time I was aware of humor or word play. Maybe the first time I "got the joke".

Speaking of a carbon footprint, when the people who're saying there's a dire problem get rid of their mansions, yachts, and private jets then maybe I'll start believing their story.
