Speak English, please. The value of a strong safety is in his ability to make open-field tackles, something I think Roy Williams, who played in the dominant conference, proved he was more than capable of, as he continues to do so in the league.

He's one of the best players at safety when stopping the run, and he's below average in coverage. The problem is the system has changed quite a bit lately and they've been asking him to do more coverage. When Darren Woodson was there he could creep up into the box and he was a pro bowl caliber player. Not as much anymore. Also, the reason that you haven't heard his name much this year is he's played very little due to breaking his arm, and then rebreaking it soon after he returned.

wasting? what the hell do you mean, he's been doing good as a safety. He is perfect for a safety position, he's probably one of the best ss player out there, and he was a safety when he was with the sooners. So that means the cowboys would have a good reason to put him as a safety.

Here is a medical journal on the effect of head injuries in NFL football players... Also, you should already know this; but, the NFL did (finally) change the policy on concussions received by players. If you haven't noticed, now when a player receives a concussion, they can only return if Medical Doctors say they can play, this is different then previous years when players would return the next play. They changed this because of the large amount of former players suffering from diseases...cnt...

Was Rocky Marciano overrated when they said that he fights with his strength than with his mind? You really don't get the simile but that's ok. He is rated the way that he should be rated. He might have no coverage at all but if the receiver knows that Roy is where he would catch the ball, its just as good as a coverage safety because the receiver would hesitate and consequently not catch the ball.

His game didn't change? Please explain to me how the secondary is any different in a 3-4 compared to a 4-3? I'll wait... I'm not expecting a response, so with that said, the front 7 scheme changed had nothing to do with his lackluster performance in the secondary. He lost his drive, that's what happened. And it's a damn shame, because he was my favorite player for several years.

Hindsight is always 20-20. Roy looked like the next best safety since Ronnie Lott his first few years in the league. Besides, I think Reed is a bit overrated. In hingsight, I would've rather had Brian Westbrook who was picked in the 3rd round. Or perhaps James Harrison, who went undrafted in the 2002 draft.

@SevOneDeu

You mean the game in Seattle, after he led the team down the field and inevitably dropped a slick ball as a holder, which has nothing to do with his ability to quarterback a team? If so, he's no longer the holder. Or the game versus the Giants, in which the Dallas O-line played absolutely atrociously in the 2nd half? No QB is going to succeed if only given a second or two to pass the ball. Not to mention, we completely abandoned the run after half time, so he had to do it all.

roy lost his game due to what i belive coaching changes and diffrent expectation from him. he is not a cover guy he is the guy who hammers and forces fumbles. with newman being one of the top corner roy should never stay deep like 20 yards. he should be clouse to line and knock people out! 2 late now cowboys released him. hopfully he find a good home and system that works with his game.

Roy Williams is a decent tackler but is horrible in coverage, though at first he was decent at coverage, and usually safties are actually good cover guys, not to mention Roy Williams is only 27 so i wouldn't exactly say he's old. He's middle aged for NFL players, but not old.

Roy Williams is to Rocky Marciano as Darren Sharper is to Muhammad Ali... Get the simile? Roy overcompensates his lack of coverage speed by showing his presence in the secondary and that is a fact. he didnt forget what made him good. the cowboys forgot. they tried to make him fill woodson's shoes. roy was a ss for a reason: he was killer on run support, big hits in the underneath routes & a good extra blitzer. the 'boys never took the time to find a competent FS to balance out Roy. As sad as it is to say it, the 'Boys failed Roy. Now they have Sensabaugh, so it's a slight improvement, but they don't have Roy anymore.
