I have actually told a friend when describing this show that the characters are written so well that 3 or 4 of the side characters could have been the main character. and they arent stereotypical as well, everyone has multiple aspects of their personalities , for eg: alex louis armstrong is strong, has muscular build and stern face ( which are typical attributes people often associate with people of cold personalities and narcissistic attitude and is known as ' MANLY' ) is so soft , sweet , caring with a kind heart and who also sheds tears after hearing every other random emotional backstory( which is so not typically manly as men in society are told ' why are you crying ? are you a girl?')

Except for the lady Armstrong. A lot of the female characters were one-dimensional, simply there to break existing stereotypes.

Most people who work for him probably aren't aware of that dynamic. The whole "her dad was his master, in the Eastern Martial Artist, 'becoming an apprentice means marrying into the family' sense" thing is already lost on most of the audience, and that's more than people get in-universe.

I remember Grumman talking to Mustang about marrying his granddaughter, without explicitly mentioning that Riza is his granddaughter lol. I don't think anyone in-universe outside of their families know they met so young though.
