Royal Bath and West Show 2024 | My Friday show highlights

Join me for a wander around the Royal Bath and West Show in Shepton Mallet , in Somerset.
The Royal Bath and West Show is one of England's biggest celebrations of rural life. There is something at this show for everyone of every age. Its not just agriculture, there is food and drink, entertainment, gardens, a miniature railway and so much more.
I could not possibly cover it all in short video, but I hope that this gives you a little bit of a flavour for the show.
An adult ticket cost me £32 in May 2024. It would have been about £5 cheaper, had I remembered to buy it a few days before!

Wow! Lots of things going on at the Bath and West Show Louise and you seem to capture a lot of it. You also captured the atmosphere and excitement of the day. Lots of food and drink on display too. And you got your pen from BBC Radio Somerset! Fun seeing the pony and traps whizzing around and the miniature railway as well. Great video 🙂👍

It was a brilliant day! Yes, I got a pen from BBC Radio Somerset - my new favourite pen! BBC Radio Somerset has such a special place in my heart. Watching this video back I can see how full of joy I am when I talk about it! 🤗 It was a fantastic day out!

Wow, the show looks like a lot of fun to attend! I enjoyed seeing all the animals, especially that litter of sleeping piglets - so adorable! It's always fun watching dog agility competitions, even when the dogs get a bit confused. The food looked great, too. Have a great day, Louise!

Lovely video, Louise. You captured the day beautifully . I realise there was far more to see, but time is not always on your side. I've been to a few shows in the past and however hard I tried, it's almost impossible to see it all in a day. The Bath and West is one I've known about, but never visited, so many thanks for giving me a glimpse. Now I no longer drive, I have to rely on public transport.

Thank you!! Yes! I am beginning to realise how much I missed after reading reviews of it. I was so lucky to be able to get a coach to the show which left just a few minutes walk from home.

Hi Louise, you always look like your having a such a good time, so much to see and do there. The cider tasting looked great. This show goes back a very long time, It put me in mind of the agricultural shows that were mentioned in a book on William Smith (The map that changed the world), especially as this show was in Bath where he lived and made his first maps on geology. He appears in a painting by George Garrard, of the great shearing held at Woburn in 1804. Both the painting and book can be found online. All the best!!

Thank you David! That all sounds really interesting! I will take a look online! Yes, the cider tasting was great! I did not realise how much variation there could be in flavours. It all complimented all the free cheese very well!
