I have a similar chair. When I go out on shorter trips during the day, I have it, a thermos with coffee and a sandwich in my backpack. Stays somewhere with a beautiful view and feel good before I roll on my Himalayan. Life is good!

It was sunny and not too cold in Portland this last weekend, so I went out for a quick ride. It was only an hour or so, but it was comfortable and it felt good to get out. My bike is also a Himalayan, so thanks for the tips.

I too bought and install an iridium plug. This is cheap upgrade that makes a noticeable difference. I have a Thermarest chair which is made from a Thermarest sleeping pad and a couple of rods and some fabric. I'm sure it is not as comfortable as your chair but it is lighter and easier to pack. I used it for many years hiking and mountaineering.

Great video. However, I would say that changing your spark plug every year is completely overkill. Those iridium tips are designed for 100,000 miles.

+1 to the QuadLock set-up with the anti-vibration add-on. So far, no issues with my iPhone 12 Pro. I recently added the weather-resistant wireless charging mount which is really nice. I want to come up with a better, more efficient solution for the EDC items I keep on the bike. The bag I'm using now takes up too much room inside the pannier. I'm thinking about adding Velcro panels inside and finding a tool roll or something that has Velcro on it that I can stick underneath the lid. Any ideas there? Thanks for the content!

I love your videos. Great practical tips. Question: You mount the drone controller on the gas tank, but how do you monitor the drone footage? Do you have the phone attached to the controller itself, or do you run an extension cable from the controller to your phone? Or am I missing something? It looks like a Mavic Mini controller like mine, but I have to have my phone attached to the controller. Thanks.
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 2 жыл бұрын
I just attached the entire controller w/phone to the gas tank via velcro tabs. So I have to look down to see. I suppose with a longer cable I could keep the phone up on the handlebars....but I typically never fly the drone for more than a few minutes at a time for a specific shot. I've had a quite a few issues controlling the little gen 1 mini. I suppose that's what I get for buying a used on on craigslist for $200. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just changed to the iridium plug to try to fix my cold-stalling issues. It didn't help that, but the bike does run noticeably better.
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 2 жыл бұрын
Replace the two relays under your seat and get your throttle position sensor adjusted at the dealer. Since I did these two things, I've had zero stalls.

Love the velcro idea for the drone controller! If you want to remove the velcro peace that's attached to the bike, will that damage the bike?
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 11 ай бұрын
I don't think it will damage. I will probably leave some sticky residue that can come off easily with WD40

Perhaps using epoxy or duct tape on those pannier pannier fittings would keep them in place if the wheel came off again?
@HSsharma37
@HSsharma37 2 жыл бұрын
that issue with pannier bolt and metal peace missing is pretty uncommon... but yeah I faced it once.. got to know that RE doesn't sell it separately so I did visit a welder and for $2 buckes... he made the exact peace for me by cutting and polishing... also got the bolt from hardware store for $1 and cut the head... it has been a year and 15000kms since then... still no issue aftr that
@L--Z
@L--Z 2 жыл бұрын
Yours is the fourth instance of this happening that I've heard of and I'm not paying attention...I suspect this is a common problem and these bolts security should be regularly checked.

How many weeks does Flagstaff have snow on the ground and/or sub-freezing weather? Do you ever trailer the bike down to Phoenix during that time of year?
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 2 жыл бұрын
Last year we had bad snow/ice until mid-february. Right now the roads are actually fine and temps aren't too bad, so I will probably do some riding very soon. If I want to go someplace warmer, Sedona is the easiest. It's only about 40 minutes away and is always 10-15 degrees warmer.

Non-ethanol fuel has no need for stabilizers. Ethanol attracts water and causes rust which is why "stabilizers" became a thing
@On2Feet

Yeah...There is a ethanol-free gas station in Flagstaff, but it's about 20 miles away. I do try to fill up there when I can though (It's also REALLY expensive here).

If you're going to keep having bolts/screws rattle loose on the bike, consider adding a little Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242* when you re-tighten them. * NOTE * Make sure if anyone does this that you use Blue NOT Red! Blue can be cracked off again with a little effort, Red is a permanent hold.
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah...I try to use blue locktite on any bolt/screw that I can when it's metal/metal. For the well nuts on the windshield and other plastic or rubber connections, I usually don't.

I have the quadlock with the vibration dampener. Went on a 2000-km trip last year, and the camera on the iPhone 7 - that I (sadly) still use - is dead. No bueno.
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 2 жыл бұрын
ah man...well that's definitely a bummer. I haven't been brave enough to put my good phone on the quad lock yet. I am probably going to buy a new phone soon, so will probably downgrade my current phone to be my new travel phone. Then...even if the image stabilization does bonk out, it's not a huge deal.

@@On2Feet I rode with Quad-Lock Vibration Dampner for about 1000km, but conditions differed. I was using Pixel, not iPhone. I had it mounted (the base mount) right next to where the handlebar is mounted to the steering column (where it is bolted to the steering column). The dampener-mounted phone shook madly over rough patches of road, but the OIS of my mobile was still fine. Due to the terrain and conditions, I mostly stuck to low speed (4-4.5k rpm). I will go for longer 2000 - 3000km rides after the summer. Will keep you updated if you are interested. Please note that different devices may need different vibration frequencies or forces to show the same type of damage, so Pixel and iPhones may not be equivalent comparisons.
