Hey Ben! You are making by far the most useful videos in terms of motorcycle maintenance & mods. All of your videos are to the point and very well narrated. Thank you so much for you efforts to explain each and every steps involved in the process. I am facing the fogging issue with my instrument cluster and this videos solves the problem. Can you update on how is the silica bag working till date for you?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
karthik prabhakar Thank you Friend for taking the time to acknowledge the effort . Means a lot . You will have to change your silica packs every 3-6 months depending on exposure to rain . Also I always cover the instrument console while going for a jet wash.

Hi Ben rather than opening the headlight assembly I remove the 4 screws of the windshield and easily have access to the console using a ring spanner size 10. Once all the 3 nuts are are removed I slightly pull the speedo in the upward direction and remove the connector. It makes it much easier standing rather than doing it sitting looking upwards. At the same time I also inspect the windshield rubber inserts if there is any vibration and replace them with new ones. Thanks

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This console on my Himalayan has accumulated lot of dust and the speedo meter needle kind of dances (jumps quite a bit), would simply opening up the console and blowing bit of air and then slightly pushing the needle help?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
If the needle jumps , then you are looking at servicing / changing the speed sensor on the wheel . On a side note . Pull out the speed sensor’s connector blow air into it and put it back , also inspect the wire for cracks .

Hi Ben, thank you very much for this video. Rather than having my cluster replaced under warranty for the second time and having the oddometer go back to zero I will try this fix. Can you tell me how effective it was please? Do you envisage having to replace the silica gel pack on a regular basis or did the gasket maker seal it effectively?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
Boreen Run you will have to replace the silica gel pack every 3-6 months . Depending upon the humidity , rain conditions in your area. Also apply a rubber based paste so that you find it easy to remove the cover the next time .
@boreenrun62383 жыл бұрын
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN Ok, thank you Ben. So the sealant doesn't actually completely seal it. Is there anywhere else you think the water is getting in?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
@@boreenrun6238 in my case the water gets in through the micro cracks in the clear acrylic. it isint wide enough for just surface level cracks. what ever cracks the plastic clear screen develops, goes through to the other end in time.

I have a 2020 Himalayan with only 430 kilometer's on the clock, and am now experiencing the same thing. When it fogs up, I can't see the readings on the digital display, current gear in particular. I wonder if I can get this fixed as you have demonstrated, when I take my motorcycle in for its 500 kilometer service. Since it it seems to be a common RE Himalayan issue.

My dealer in Germany has new information's about this problem. He said to me, if we change the console now, I will have the same problem a few weeks later. Enfield improve the console so it will be waterproof and dry inside. I will wait now for the new part.
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
not sure about that as the latest 2021 himalayans also have this problem. i believe its a component flaw in the speedometer (could be design, hardware, o ring etc). So help yourself with solutions and be stress free.

Hellooo ben Wonderful videos mate.👍 I recently got my bs6 model and i am facing this issue, is that a permanent fix? Will it affect the warranty of it?
@ONTWOWHEELSBEN3 жыл бұрын
you will have to replace the silica gel pack every three to four months as it will swell up with moisture. and yes this will void your warranty only in india just like changing to any other brand of oil other than liquid gun will. RE service, warranty policies are crazy in this country alone.
