Is Royal Enfield's Interceptor 650 the best 'made in India' motorcycle?

It’s a freaking beast. It can easily put triumph classics red faced as it is available at one third of its price. Most of the Indian made bikes in 2 to 2.5 lakh price backer can’t match with it. I love it and I am a proud owner of it.

Good review bro. I rode the interceptor today with pillion rider, the bike is superb for Touring, very less vibrations even at 100km/hr. Easy to manage in mild to normal traffic condition. I drove for 80kms on a highway and 14 kms in city and still wasn't very tired which is amazing as compared to other bikes. The power you feel upon accelerating is simply estatic. The things to improve are 1. the seat can have pillion rest for long ride comfort of pillion. 2. Bigger tank capacity because mileage is 22-25km/ liter so range limited to 250kms . 3. Liquid cooled engine instead of oil cooled with insulation of heat affecting the legs. After a ride of 1 hour on highway at speeds of 60-110km/hr I started to feel heat from engine towards my legs, it wasn't summer so I could manage. I believe they should have put liquid Cooled Engine as people who spend 3.2 lakhs won't mind putting in 10-15k more for liquid cooling. Otherwise the bike is a big leap in RE, and people were observing me a lot loll maybe because it's still not common like other RE bikes. RE will snatch away potential customers of Harley Davidson and other bikes costing 7.5 lakh+ which aren't very practical on Indian roads and too expensive.

With 18 to 25kmpl how far would the himalayan go just in case one decided to stay on roads away from fuel pumps? The Himalayan would definitely need a much larger fuel tank to get good range with this engine! The Thunderbird would be a really good platform for the 650cc I guess.

Hi Faisel Khan, I have a suggestion. Try to find a Triumph 650 c.c. Bonneville air cooled, Yamaha XS-1 650 c.c. and a Kawasaki W-600 to ride back to back. Then jump onto the Royal Enfield 650 c.c. Interceptor to see how you feel about the RE then. Well heck, you might as well throw in a Royal Enfield 750 c.c. TT Interceptor too.

Great review! Is the initial pull a bit low and gets better in the mid-range? From all the shots of starting from standstill, the initial build up seemed a bit slow.

What I don't get is that RE have worked really well on the engine.. and forgot on other finer things..like the touring ergonomics, footpegs, windscreen, tubeless tyres, LED lights etc..🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Hi Faisal ,I recently bought an interceptor and I appreciate your reviews which really helped in selection. One worry I have about bike is the tube tyres . I am thinking of putting Tyre sealant like seelin. Outex is another option but it's exorbitantly expensive .please let me know your thoughts about same ?

Great review as usual. One question though, I am confused between Interceptor and Dominar Bs6, my height is 5'11 and my weight is 106 kgs and my wife would be around 60 kgs and 5'8. I enjoy riding a fast bike, but I don't usually tour more than 200 kms. And most of the time I would be riding with a pillion, and sometimes alone. Mainly my rides will comprise of 60 percent city and 40 percent Highway. I am loving both the bikes but really confused which will be a better buy for me. Any suggestions?
