Hey, this is Siddharth from Trip Machine. Absolutely love the video and thank you for making this. Your unbiased view on the seat is spot on. Though you purchased a used one, we made improvements to this one and the new seat which now has one foam with different levels of stiffness within the same foam. That's made the seat softer for shorter rides while still having the firmness for long ones. While we use a special water repellant suede that we designed specifically for outdoors, it can not beat the Vinyl in terms of water resistance. It can beat it in terms of longevity. Our seat/ products can best be described as a beautiful spouse. Everybody turns back and looks at you, they admire you but if you want the relationship to be long, it will need an extra level of love and affection. :) how do you think we can make it better, I'm dropping you an email.

Thanks for this clip. I love the Trip Machine seat. It's one of my favorite mods for my Interceptor, along with my S&S slip-ons and my Beeline Moto nav unit.

you can spray the suede with water repellent spray. and if you're crazy, you can add wax onto the suede and turn it into waxed flesh leather and make it even more water resistant.

I have the exact same TripMachine seat on my bike - it's a lovely thing and great when you're putting in the miles. But yeah, I wouldn't tour on it. I'm a fair weather rider these days, so I don't really have that problem. If I were to go touring again, I don't think it would be on the Inty anyway, so the lack of practicality is not really an issue for me. Quick point on the seat - it actually costs close to £400 here in the UK. I bought it around £250, but a week or so after delivery I got a bill for £150 from FedEX for tax and import duty. So buyer beware. It's a fantastic seat, but had I known it would cost me £400 I probably wouldn't have bought it. Looking forward to seeing the result of the changes to the stock seat - I might do something similar.

I had a GT style touring seat which came extra with my Interceptor but didn't find it any more comfortable so sold i . I bought a suede seat cover from Raw & Rugged in India, great quality complete with brush and looks exactly like the Trip Machine seat. You can remove your seat cover and staple it on or just fit it over your seat and secure it with the supplied heavy duty draw string. If it rains you can remove it and put it in your pannier so your not sitting on a wet seat. It cost me $119 Aus. which included postage. It comes in Brown or black. I love it. Great videos and I love the presentation. Keep them going. I have a 1975 Honda K5 and 1978 Honda CX500 and the standard seats are so comfortable. I have been riding 50yrs and manufacturers stopped making comfortable seats in the 1980s. Why??

Had the pleasure of using this seat as I ordered it last week. It's lovely and by far one of the best I have used on the interceptor. With luck it will not get wet anytime soon. I loved it 🙂

So when I got my Interceptor and ride it home 54 miles I already knew the original seat had to go ! I ordered the GT seat from India on a Friday afternoon and was fitting it to the bike on the Monday, then the suede seat covers started to arrive so I bought one , best of both worlds ....if the weather looks iffy I ride without the cover on !

Appreciate the seat video, i use the touring seat on my interceptor with a rear cowl, it has been fine but the bike is generally used only for shorter coffee runs. Your series of upgrade videos has been very helpful so thank you for that, keep em coming.

I have this seat and I really like and it's very comfortable. Though since I live is rainy Seattle I also bought a touring seat. So this is my summer seat and the touring is for the rest or long trips where I might get rain.

I have leather seats on my classic 500, I just make sure to have a dry towel in the saddle bags to sit on when there is a chance of it being out in the rain.

Nostalgia seats upgraded my seat but I was completely unhappy with it. I was looking forward to taking delivery of what I thought would be a very comfortable seat, but what I got was an instrument of extreme torture. I opted for a new leather seat cover which was excellent quality in every aspect but that was the only good point. I asked for a comfort seat but what I got upon inspection (I took the cover off) was the same foam below with a 1cm deep cut out portion removed underneath my old boy and NOT underneath my backside area. This 1cm gap was filled with a 1cm thick gel pad which again was placed underneath the area beneath my old boy and not my backside. Upon inspection it was easy to see that the gel had been cut down from a thick gel pad which meant the support provided by it wasn’t very good. These gel pads generally come in a standard thickness of around 2cm ‘ish’ so why did Nostalgia cut it down? The gel pad was then covered in a 3d mesh material…..and that was it. Now I’m no upholsterer but even I know that for comfort to be achieved it needs to be a case of ‘out with the old and in with the new’ and for me a 1cm cut out towards the front of my seat just didn’t fulfil my expectations of a comfort seat. Would I recommend Nostalgia Seats? Well they are clearly excellent at working with leather as my seat cover was of first class quality….no complaints there, but they clearly have no idea as to what constitutes a comfortable seat because if they did I would have received one, but I didn’t and for that I believe it was money poorly spent.

The premium touring seat from RE might be a good option, not the GT one you have but the premium touring one ment for the interceptor. That GT one is ment for the Continental GT

Suede touring seat slays...

Hi, " passenger grab strap ". It makes a handy place to store gloves while adding gasoline or otherwise off the bike. Passengers, grab with one hand inside your thigh, under the seat, preferably under the frame. Grab beside the hip or buttock under the seat, preferably under the frame. Pull one's body down into the seat as needed. Aids in remaining seat while launches and braking occur. Don't ever trust the seat strap for gripping the motorcycle. Ever. d:)

Sahara seats make the most practical (& stylish) seats for the RE Interceptor

Also I find the Suede grippy & it will brake into your arse.It is also narrower & lower.A steam clean at a professional shop or a hand held steam cleaner will clean it up great. They are going to make a waterproof cover for it & I emailed them about waterproof cover & said it not released yet.I reckon you & anyone else email them about waterproof cover to put the pressure on so it released.You can get a vinyl waterproof seat cover from Sahara Seats & being vinyl is 100% waterproof & stuff in your jacket if it fines up.Leather gets wet too but takes longer to get wet & around stitching.Sahara Seats make several styles & make custom seats.My seat has been in 20mins Heavy rain with me riding & I brought it inside & dried it front of fire & it dry.I live in NZ & it not as bad as the UK weather & have toured on it in summer.In winter if it looks like it rain I use stock seat & also use stock for services at garage.

I had the GT touring seat fitted to my Interceptor after hearing about the discomfort people had with the original seat , so although I have the original seat I've never sat on it , I also have a single seat which I had on for a while with a tail bag which fitted flat on the frame behind the seat . On another note have you seen the "Suede Look" one's on the 120th Special Edition models with the Black Chrome tanks ? I was wondering how water repellent they were ?

When it comes to seats, check out Tom Hurley custom seats, yes there is a long wait, yes it's expensive. However you don't seem like you scrimp on things. I had mine rebuilt with medical gel and memory foam, and i'm blown away with the quality and comfort. find him on Instagram. AMAZING work.

I think the best idea is to just have the original seat re- upholstered to your own spec for less than £200.....

since what day was animal leather a quality thing for motorcycle seats? It sucks up liquids and makes everythng worse... I obviously prefer a fake leather material that let's liquids drip off. On a side note, I took 3h rides on the original seat, but I had less comforting experiences with Yamaha/Honda seats (not that the Interceptors seat is perfect ;))

vinyl/whatever plastic non-stitched is the way to go tbh. real leather with stitching is just a really dumb choice for a seat. it requires way more maintenance and the 'real' stitching means it won't EVER be waterproof, no matter what kind of sealant you use. it may suit a car, but for a motorcycle that literally has the seat exposed to the elements at all times? no thanks. as for the GT touring seat, even the stock GT seat is very firm. the touring version feels barely any different tbh. I also feel like it has less to do with firmness and more to do with the spread of the seat, which distributes your weight better. trip machine also makes these grip wraps that are also entirely stylish with zero practicality. they basically turn into slippery messes when wet and require a stupid level of maintenance.

Aesthetically the gt looks the best.

I got mine a year ago & it was $380 delivered but after Stu Fillingham video price shot up to $500😂🤣

You murderd a horse to brush the seat..(just kidding)it seems ok,but the RE preimum red stich seat would seem to blend with your oem paint blend very well/or bit better)just my opnion) i think,as always informative/info 100% thanks
