I have several bikes but my Meteor 350 is special. A delight to ride, quick enough for the road in normal circumstances and a complete bargin. RE have soul in their DNA.

Im on my second Meteor and they are a cracking bike, my current one is the Supernova Blue. Great touring bike and have done 275 miles in one day without problem. Happy to sit on the motorway at 70mph all day too.🙂👍

My 750cc Honda just sits in the garage nowadays. My Meteor is my Go To bike. It's comfy, reliable, fast enough around town and the lanes and I really like the heel/toe shifter. Keen price when I bought it and I get more comments about this bike than from many a faster and more expensive bike.

Lovely mate ! Your enthusiasm for this amazing little bike really comes through. I also notice that you VERY NEARLY said that you have a friend in FRANCE who has one 😂 You should have gone for it mate, I would have wet myself ! Although the engines are the same, the Meteor definitely feels happier than the Classic when you shift up through the gears nice and early. Probably due to the larger rear wheel, a not fully run in Classic 350 always needs a few more revs on before it will comfortably take the next gear. I THINK this is why I always preferred the Meteor. The engine and gearing are so perfectly matched to encourage early upshifts and riding like that you really feel like you are riding a bigger cruiser. A cracking first ride review and the SuperNova in Brown/Black is growing on me. Certainly looked smart in the Exmouth sunshine 👍🏻 As you now know, the fuel economy is amazing, particularly if you ride the bike like it should be ridden and they seem to be extremely well finished. I will be doing a two year review on mine soon but it still looks absolutely brand new. There is NOTHING on Buddy which doesn't look brand new after two years. I will be in touch in a minute Steve, I was thinking that maybe we can have a little catch up over the weekend. Take care and speak soon. I'm really glad that you "get" the Meteor. Yes I got it wrong, it should have been France! Yes on paper the meteor is a better option than the classic I think. Its left a dent on me as you know 🤔👍

I just put a 16 tooth front sprocket on mine and i thought it was a happy bike before but now it’s noticeably better at cruising on A roads and 4th gear is way more useful than before , maybe not the same fore everyone as these things are subjective but for me its way better , 65 /70 is way easier but the spread in the lower gears isn’t wrong either as first always feels a bit under geared anyway but not anymore it feels like the original gearing was for India and now its right for the Uk

@@user-rd7qu8kk6d Hi Noel. Yes the 16 tooth front sprocket is a worthwhile mod if you spend a fair amount of time at 60 mph and above. Fortunately I don't need to ride fast roads at all. Here it is very mountainous, so I don't really want to increase the gearing because the shorter OEM gearing copes really well with my local mountain roads. Usually I can just leave the Meteor in fourth gear, maybe dropping to third on tighter bends and swing it about. If it was flatter here and I needed to ride fast roads to get to the good roads, then I too would probably change the front sprocket. Glad to hear that the 16T is working well for you ! Good to see that you've now got the opportunity to really get to know the Meteor over a longer period. You're absolutely spot on with the way that the RE 350s give you that Zen state of mind. I exchanged my Meteor after 2500 miles for a second Hunter which suit my riding needs rather better. Good to see Exeter Quay in the sunshine too. Peter

As soon as the Hunter became available I got one and then I knew that was what felt right for me. Enjoy your next few weeks with the Meteor and I look forward to your conclusions. @@exeterrider Aha yes indeed - that's what finally made me change to the Hunter - I found the shocks up the spine too much. The Hunter has a much more 'normal' positioning and easy to get up onto the footpegs when things get really bad - as they are on our country (and town) roads now.

Bought a brand new blue Supernova last year. Absolutely love the bike. She has a wonderful charm to her. I put a pipe on her and an air box mod which really helped her breath and a bit more piff. 5500 miles on her now. Iv a collection of 12 bikes but 9 times out of 10 when I open the garage door I wheel out the Royal enfield. If you own a Meteor you're a meteorite... Check out my walk round video of mine.. What a beautiful colour scheme, stunning. I have a Classic and love that little bike, the engine is a cracker. I had a heal and toe gear change on an old Honda C90 back in the eighties and never thought anything of it, would be interesting to try it now and see if that view changed. Sounds like you going to have a great time on that bike and look forward to the videos.

Excellent review. I've just collected my new to me 22 plate Classic 350. I test rode both the Meteor and the Classic and really found them both comfortable, and really had difficulty choosing between the two. Different riding positions but I found them both extremely comfortable, but I think for me the Classic had just the edge - but that's a personal thing and everyone is different. I also love the traditional look of the Classic 350 - just got to keep on top of all that chrome and polished alloy. Love the bike and in two weeks have racked up almost 1000 miles. Just a bike that you want to ride all the time. Its the only bike I have had where rather than having my music playing I prefer to listen to the sound of that engine....it makes its own music😁

That was like poetry there Steve. The classic is a beautiful bike. As you say, it's a personal choice, my heart says classic, but my brain says meteor due to tubeless tyres, and having a screen, but no wrong answer there. Thanks for your input 🙏👍🍻

The meteor is definitely a calming bike. I go out for a ride or tour and at the end of the day I could do it all over again. I do the same on my 4 cylinder 1200 triumph and I end up buzzing and pushing more when that wasn't really what I wanted. The only faults on my meteor were the stiff rear suspension initially, it's softened up over time plus I find them a real pain to adjust. I have to adjust them a lot as I switch between pillion and solo. Plus I have a MIL that keeps coming on and needs sorting. Also, mine loosened up as the miles racked up, by about 1,500miles it felt better and will run happily at top speed for ages. I'm now up to 4,500miles and it's even better.

Yes the shocks are the one thing that bus me. It's have to go after market if I had one I think.

I second all of this! It really does change ones state of mind into a calmer, more mellow "enjoy the ride" mindspace, which I love. Mine has just over 220 miles on it, and the rear suspension is definitely stiff. I was wondering if it might soften up over time, sounds like it will. Great comments, and great video @exeterrider!

@@exeterrider well, I chose the Meteor AND the 500 Bullet! Best of both worlds for me! Also, only cost me £131 fully comp FOR BOTH BIKES on my insurance. I’m 59 and live in a rural area.

My meteor 350 was unbelievably slow and yes i like riding it but was a bit dissatisfied with the performance but now 1600 miles down the road and it goes much better than I expected, i’ve done a few little mods and its a fantastic bike to ride and i have total confidence in it so anybody thinking about getting one needs to be aware that a test ride will tell you nothing about the performance or braking as my brakes didn’t reach their full potential until a 1000 miles had gone by the back shocks would rattle my teeth on pot holes n bumps now the brakes are progressive and strong and the ride is getting better every-time i get out, the motor feels way more powerful and my pal at the mot station after i let him have a go actually said to me “ i thought these were only about 20 ponies but thats probably just the classic cos that flies around the town don’t it” so I didn’t argue

Very nice, don't see many poor reviews of the meteor and it has avoided the speedo issue that the classic 350 suffers from. Looks like you'll have had an enjoyable time with this one.

The speedo problem on the classic 350 was cracked down by several owners to be dirty connections behind the front light.

@@Stefan_trekkie Ian Hughes channel tried that, he had a replacement speedo after it got stuck. The new one failed, so he tried cleaning the connections - worked for a little while then got stuck again. There's a few 350 classic vloggers with duff speedos or had them replaced.

I'm on my 3rd Classic 350, the first two had the speedo issue. The problem is caused by the glass on the Speedo head distorting when there's heat such as sunshine reflecting on the glass and it traps the needle where it pivots. There is a modified speedo available now to rectify the problem. As a temporary measure owners can stick a corn plaster over the centre of the glass where the pivot point is and it stops the problem.! Great bike otherwise🙂👍

Had my Meteor nearly two years and 7000 miles, performance is better than ever, only down side is a hard ride especially on the rough Devon roads, otherwise can't fault it.

I had the new classic 350 for close to a year and I trade it in but the bike was good. The reasons where many but it will take ages to explain. I almost made it in to a meteor. New taller handlebar, low rider seat, heel-toe gear lever. As Garry /Economical rides/ said to me - I should have gotten the meteor not the classic. The Classic was too shiney in a bad way, did not wanted to get it dirty but I needed more practical every day bike. Hell-toe lever is a blast.. Got use to it on the classic within 1-2 days of riding and never looked back.

@@exeterrider I am riding mostly in and around big city~1.5 mil people with bad traffic and bad roads. And traded in the classic for a city scooter + surplus but is temporary fix.. My dream is the new adv350, that you have reviewed. That bike is literally everything that I need. The chap that took in my classic is riding it and loving it. He rides with his wife as pillion and it is very comfortable, they say.

Great video, and I love the way you put it - that it puts you into a "state of Zen." I had the same experience of learning a new way to ride, more calmly, and actually enjoying it. The Meteor really has a way of doing that like no other bike has for me. I came from a much more powerful bike and was wondering how much I would miss the extra speed. At first, I did just a bit. But this bike has such a vibrant spirit to it, and makes up for it in so many ways. It's extremely comfortable, handles great, looks fantastic, and sounds absolutely intoxicating. It's really won me over, and I find myself making excuses to ride it, even if just around the block, because I enjoy it so much. Oh, and then there's the 80mpg - love that too!

No one could blame you for already doing a good ride, I too love the Meteor 350, I know its down on power but it does everything else brilliantly, super classy. You're spot on, there is a way to ride this bike specifically, it definitely a much more chilled ride. I don't see many of the Hunters around, see a fair few classics, they are all class in their own way. Great video mate, can't wait to see more videos with the Meteor.

Last Month, Royal Enfield had a demo day I had planned on going to. Unfortunately I was I'll that day and missed it. Needless to say I was bummed. They had the entire line up for rides too. Great looking bike. I can see why you like it so much.

Ahh gutted Kode, RE will take some time getting used too for you id imagine being so used to the other end of the scale with Hondas etc. But if you "get it" then it really is a game changer, it takes a while to recalibrate 👍

Between this and the hunter for me,,iv had a 600cc suzuki gsr for 5 months now as a first big bike,,already find its too much power for normal A/B roads,never use in half the power,,these bikes seem perfect for my riding,,great review there,,definetly intrested in down sizing,,thanks

What a lovely looking bike it really suits that colour, Now then I do believe you're talking my language, I have been thinking about one of those for a while but I haven't ridden one yet so I'm so looking forward to anything you have to say about it. You sound very keen and happy to ride it which is great. Can you give us some comparisons with the NC, such as comfort, power comparison in use, (I know the numbers but how does it compare in use), and fuel economy. Hello Paul, totally different in every way compared to the NC. For me it would work well as a pullout and ride bike,but the NC is more of a bind to pull out I find. It puts you in a good Zen mood, but it will take an hour to get the feel of it and how it wants to ride,also when they are new they are "tight" so they need 2k miles on them till they loosen up and you can get the full torque then, this one has done 1k now . I have put 260ish miles on it so far and filled up once , it worked out I'm getting about 100mpg! Its all about the ride with this one...If you can get a ride then go for it,BUT bear in mind it works best very low down the rev range and that mess with your head if your used to Japanese bikes. Totally different to the bikes I normally like but I still loves it😍

That really has a quality look. While at the ABR I had a good look at them. They really have upped the offering. Quality is outstanding. Especially at that price point. If it wasn’t for the fact I wanted a light bike I would have bought a fireball in yellow. Or a super meteor. But then a conti GT looked appealing. I could go on!

Royal Enfield are doing a great job at the moment. Its not my style of bike but can appreciate the looks and build quality. As for power I think you have to adjust your expectations (every bike seems down on power from my MT10!)

thanks for this video btw, you're totally right! its a totally zen bike, very friendly and designed for miles of smiles! once you get it, you get it. i own a stellar black meteor 350 and love the fuck out of that bike. Ive also ridden the super meteor and i love the extra power on that one but i miss the heel shifter, but i believe its available as an option (?)

Easy to work on, value for money, more smiles per mile than a lot of bikes, easy to get on with and ride, comfortable with good riding position, shed load of accessories for the bike ect, ect, ect 😊

@@exeterrider agreed, which is why I fitted a set of endurance gas shocks for the Bullit 500, which improved the ride 20-30% and cost around £80 the pair. 😀

@@kevindarkstar Yep, he's already been onto me about improving the ride and currently the Endurance units do seem to be the best option I've heard about. I really want to get some myself but buying stuff from India is a real pain when you live in Spain. Customs give you SO MUCH grief AND you end up paying VAT twice, so everything ends up 21% more expensive. But a shock upgrade is absolutely THE ONLY THING that my little Buddy needs to be my perfect bike. So I think it will have to be done at some point ! Cheers Kevin, the other ER.

I am glad you did not review a bike I want. But you do make me want to grow the channel so I can go to my local Indian dealership as they picked up RE as there drug of choice to get people motorcycling, as they are wanting people to then get an Indian later. I will see if I am the first one to offer, as I think I need to get to a couple hundred subs before I try. Thanks for the intro to the 350!

@@exeterrider I did enjoy walking into the dealership as the ground level is Indian and they have an up stairs that about 30 feet by 30 that houses the RE lineup. RE has not shown his dealership on the website and he only advertises on Craigslist. Not sure what he has going, but he does ride a 500 with a side car to work as I was there when he showed up. We will see what comes from this discussion as you think it might be a possibility!

I couldn't get used to it, so one of the first things I did was adjust it so the toe portion was one notch higher on the spindle. Now, it sits where the ones on pretty much all the other bikes I've owned sat - much more comfortable for me, and super easy - took like 15 minutes ;)

I can see one of these ending up as a permanent resident of the ER mancave. Enfield have come a long way since the oil drippers of the 60's. I like the Hunter but think it will be too small for me.

Yes I have a hunter coming Jim...the hunter will be too small but the Meteor may not be...super comfy, Arm chair peg position, I'm very tempted Jim. Easy to pull out and go which appeals. I was out huntsham looking at a job yesterday on it. Lovely lanes out there. I wonder if you would like that type of riding!?!? Low down power but not much of it . I definately get the Zen from this one, not perfect but lovely.

If you think it pulls well now, try what I like to call the holy trinity of upgrades for the J-series engine, de-cat exhaust, dna performance air filter and cover and the fuel X lite 😁

Has anyone had issues with the riding position. I get sciatica and the riding position looks comfortable but also seems like it could put weight on your lower back? I prefer the look of the meteor but i think the Hunter's riding riding position might suit me more as it's one I'm used to.

Its reletive what you say and I do get Sciatica normally when riding a push bike would you believe!!! Thats what kicks mine off anyway. sciatica is caused in different ways and varies from person to person. For me Although its feet forward pegs, it hasn't caused me any issues at all and I have it quite comfortable overall, yes there is biast weight to the bottom of my back but not really as much as you may think. I'm going to have to test one out. I think it's pushing heavy bikes in and out of the garage that sets mine off. Especially when I lean it into me. I used to ride a few sports bikes and I found my back was ok hunched over. I'm leaning more towards the hunter but I'd like to at least have a short go on a meteor as I think it could change my mind.

I have a bad back (got hit by a car) and when I looked at both Honda and RE, the petal position and upright seating have caused zero back issues. I have had mine for a year and absolutely love it.
