In today's video we do a deep dive into the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, variants, colours and optional extras. Which bike are you going to order or indeed which bike do you already own. We hope this video provides some advice for riders looking to make a decision on the Meteor 350 and potentially owning one!

Happy new year to you too B&B. When I was deciding which version of the Meteor to choose I went for the yellow Fireball. Your bike is the better of the others but I felt the Fireball was a little like me.. looks cool and is simple. Stay safe.

Thanks Paul. I agree the Fireball has a cool, simple and perhaps 'sportier' look whereas the Stella and Supernova are a bit more 'classic' looking. All variants are great machines and I'd be happy with any of them. It's been interesting to see the upgrades people are adding to all three Meteors which is a little like what has traditionally happened in India the bikes home market! Thanks again.

Lovely bikes. I personally don’t like colours of super nova and it’s screen. It’s personal preference. It be fireball yellow, or stellar red. As you mentioned you can’t spec the polished wheels. That be my first upgrade. Come on Royal Enfield, sort it out. Keep up the good work.

Hi Mark, thanks for the comment. I couldn't quite get on board with the supernova blue but brown I do quite like. I'd have a blue Stellar if not for this one. The screen is a bit of a pain and I've taken mine off, so my wind was getting deflected up into my visor. Polished wheels are relatively simple so you'd think they could be an optional extra. Thanks

Nice overview. I also have the Supernova Brown and am thinking of adding the bar end mirrors for a slightly different look to the stock bike.

Hi Mark, thanks for the comment. I have added a few bits to mine, the Givi touring screen, the RE touring seat, sump guard and engine guard. Bar end mirrors and possibly the upgraded foot rests would be next but I do like the look of the bike now!

Great comparison Video. All great colour options but for me the stellar blue is "best" looks incredible in full sun with a nice speckle through the paint and even better at dusk when the blue changes to a deep ocean blue hue. Slightly bias as I own a stellar Blue🙂

Hi Rexy, thanks for the comment. If I didn't have the Supernova in brown the Stella in Blue would be my choice. Perhaps with some choice extras. When I ordered I had only seen a Fireball and hadn't seen stellar or supernova in the metal so it was a bit of pot luck!

Jonathon your bike is particularly impressive in that colour and spec! Did you go for a brown seat or keep the standard black?

@@MindfulMotorcyclist I almost went the supernova brown but like you, the dealer didn't have one to show me! I agonised over the choice but I'm happy with outcome. I've since added the black touring seat, fly screen and painted black sump guard. The touring seat with stitched RE is class. No idea how they do these extras for very little cost to the consumer. Impressive in this day and age.

@@MrRexy04 100% agree, the accessories are really nice quality and not too expensive (imagine Triumph or BMW!). One thing is did you find the touring seat much more comfortable? I have only been out for a quick ride due to the weather since fitting it but it wasn't hugely different. It could have been the cold perhaps?

Hi Nigel, thanks for the feedback and support as always. I think this is a case of great minds think alike. I'm Supernova in PCB (I must stop calling it brown 😊, it does the colour a disservice!) first and very close second would be deep blue Stellar fitted with the dark brown touring seat and a few other choice extras.

Hi Allan, thanks for the comment, nice to hear from you. If I had known at the time that the Fireball was upgradeable with all of the parts from the Supernova I would've blown the decision to aim for the supernova only wide open. Red or Yellow Fireballs with upgrades look incredible! The detail and the quality of the finish really is high. I expect you like the new Himalayan Scram 411 then if you like the yellow colour scheme on the Meteor 👍

I chose the Fireball yellow simply for the colour and its arriving next with the windscreen, touring seat and backrest fitted..:).. I'm super excited and cant wait to see it. I'll will probably add a crash bar too at some stage. Now I have to find some decent panniers and agree with you that the RE one leaves a not to be desired.

as for the supernova " polished" wheel spokes, they have the edges of the spokes ground off and then laquered but it seems as though the edges have not been fettled off properly so they are quite sharp, a thing to watch when you are cleaning the bike and if you fettle them yourself you will have to re laquer the edges again to stop water getting under the laquer and eventually corroding the wheel finnish, i have a brown one on order for the 21st of this month, weather permitting, ( but it was a difficult choise between that and the red stella, ) so i went to the showroom to have a look at it last week i had a good look around it and found that the quality control is a bit iffy in places, nothing major but they stood out, having spent a lot of years in quality control it comes natually to me to spot things like that, so when you, as i, collect our new bikes make sure you have a good look around it before you take it from the showroom and let the staff know "there and then" if you spot any visual problems, it's only a cheap bike so as expected they have to cut production times to a minimum as with everything else. enjoy.! jmo.
@MindfulMotorcyclist
@MindfulMotorcyclist 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven thanks for your input here. I find the quality control to be fairly good on the Meteor but then I have an 'untrained eye'. The spokes are quite sharp and I have found that when cleaning the bike they will cut the sponge or mitt if you were careless you hand could be cut as well. You make an interesting point about how the spokes will hold up over time and perhaps the lacquer will start to peel given this weakness. Regarding having a good look around at the bike in the showroom I can also substantiate this, I realised mine was also missing a 'top not cover' not exactly sure of this parts name, but I raised this with the service tech at the first service they just pinched one of the bike in the show room and fitted it back onto mine. Congratulations on your brown Supernova, this is the variant I opted for, second for me would have been a blue Stellar because of the colour coded fenders, but I wanted the touring screen and the brown seats with backrest.

@@MindfulMotorcyclist i took delivery of mine on the 21st as it was a nice day and did about 45 miles on it, when i got home i noticed one of the main screen brackets had broken, a bad design i think and the left mirror head seemed to have a mind of it's own and would not stay where you aimed it for long, spoke to my dealer the day after and he replaced both bits there and then, i didn't bother putting the screen back on as i found it a bit noisey and was getting a bit of buffetting on my helmet, it's better without imo, as i won't be taking a passenger on this bike i removed the rear seat and backrest pad so i had more room for my bag, i had to make some spacers to fit the grab rails back without the seat being there and today i made some bar lifters for it giving another 15mm lift on the bars, the reason i made some is because the standard lifters that go under the bars as with most lifters wouldn't fit as the fixing centres are slightly bigger on this bike so i made some blocks to go between the head stock and the bar fixings with longer bolts of course which i just happened to have in my bits box, i did 176 miles on a run last friday and now it needs the first service, a grand little bike, enjoy.

Now it's funny, but I've never been a fan of the bar end mirror idea, makes it look weird and extends the width of the handlebar, also if you drop it, even stationary the mirror is the first thing to go! And that's before the risk of catching it on vehicles, walls and posts ect, but that's just me 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m a bit jealous because my wife insists I have enough bikesI had a test ride on one and I liked it a lot. 14 bikes aren’t enough are they? I may as well round it up to 15 is my thought but the mad woman is adamant. Sheesh! I’d buy a black one because it’s a blank canvas to start playing with.

Hi Glenn, thanks for the comment. I have the Supernova in Copperbeech bronze but I would've probably gone for the Stellar in blue. You can easily for the touring screen to the Stellar or as you've done fit an aftermarket screen. You could even fit the brown seats from the Supernova as they are also available if you fancied that. Lots of options but the base colour blue Stellar is stunning.

In my case I didn't order the accessories from the dealer but a RE specialist website based here in the UK. Perhaps you can get some shipped to the US? Hi, the servicing costs on the meteor seem horrendous to me, i have been RE dealer quoted total over £600 for 300m/6months/12months or is this about the norm on a new bike ? comments anyone ?
@MindfulMotorcyclist
@MindfulMotorcyclist 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Glen. The first service is due after 300 miles (running in service) I can only speak to the pricing of that one as I haven't had further services. You have to have this service to keep the warranty intact but whether or not you take it to an authorised dealer AND keep your warranty is up for debate. Most owners I have come across have opted to return it to the dealer. We did a rough poll of the pricing of this first service and it was between about £70 and £199 being the highest. I paid £150 which was about the median for most owners. The next service is due after 3000 miles and I'm not sure what the pricing is for that one. I suspect the RE servicing is a little lower than the likes of Triumph or Ducati for example. Their services seem to be around £250-350 but then the Royal Enfield is more often and there is the annoyance of having to take it to the dealer. I hope that helps.
