How comfortable is the pillion seat? I'm planning to buy this one to cruise with my wife and I like to know if I'll have to change that one
@Sohelahmedkhan
@Sohelahmedkhan 6 жыл бұрын
How long are you planning to ride.... By the looks of it im sure you know its not a honda goldwing rear seat. So yeah expect discomfort. I rode for 600+kms with pillion in a day multiple times.. we need to stop like every 150kms for streching... I suggest u try for a ride on stock seat and then later decide as comfort is diff for diff ppl.

Sochte rahenge ki Yaar bethne me kaisa hoga,ride karne me kaisa hoga, awaaz kaisa hoga, Mujhe suit Karega ki neyi bike me wagera wagera. Har Ek second lamha lagne lagega. Raat aise hi kat jayega. Phir Subeh Ke andhere me Uska aane ka intezaar karenge. Jaise hi wo Apni Gaari lekar aya to jaisi Humari Aankhon me tej chamak jaisi roshni deekhegi. Sabse jyada to Hum excited Honge. what is the most comfortable speed for Thunderbird....to cruise all day long
@Sohelahmedkhan
@Sohelahmedkhan 7 жыл бұрын
+Shashank Singh Chauhan hi shashank, for tb500 it is little strange actually...it feela very relaxed at 80kmph and can cruise all day long, at 90kmph aswell it feels good and still feels can cruise all day long..at 100kmph it feels i just wokeup and still feels can cruise all day long at 110kmph it feels fast cruiser and vibrations irritate you initially but later you get uaed to them and still can cruise all day long.. Iam not trying to confuse you with my answer but i have done couple of trips of 500+kms and in each trip i have cruises at all above speeds and it used to feeel as if its made to cruise at that speed. Generally i cruise between 100 to 110kmph most of the part of my ride on expressways and 90 to 100kmph on country roads..

Hi Khansaab! Love from Solapur, Maharashtra.! I already have gunmetal grey. 350cc engine feels underpowered on highways. I can only cruise around 70 kilometre per hour after that it starts to vibrate like hell and I lose confidence. How is the vibration and sweet cruising speed on Thunderbird 500?
@Sohelahmedkhan
@Sohelahmedkhan 4 жыл бұрын
Hi zubair, Tb500 sweetspot is 90 to 100 kmph, but you can cruise till 115kmph with bearable vibrations.. Anything beyond 115 is unbearable and feels like the bike will fall in peices due to vibrations...

@Sohelahmedkhan

there was no performance lag, rather due to free flowing exhaust i have rather felt the bike ran smoother and quieter, and makes riding at low speed more comfortable. with stock exhaust it is difficult to ride in city at low speeeds in 5th gear, but with this exhaust i can cruise at 50kmph at 5th gear in city. however i dont use this exhaust on highways, as at highways stock exhaust is best for highspeed cruising.

Hi bro i own a RE TB 350CC i used to drive long distances approx 4 hrs or 5 hrs but used to get this butt soar which hinders my long rides ... How to get over it ?? Any tips bro ?
@Sohelahmedkhan
@Sohelahmedkhan 3 жыл бұрын
Sore butt is a not a problem but a badge of honor of being a biker :) cherish the sore bum, numb hands, biking pains.... Ive done couple of long rides and like upto 18 hours of riding in a day, these are the things i follow for myself: 1. Wear a jeans which fits snugly at your bum(too tight will cause blood flow issues, loose will cause pain due to hip bone).. so it has to be like tight but comfortable. This will keep you going for like 5 to 6 hours ride easily nonstop on saddle. 2. Dont go on ride after very lazy days.. just before ride make sure you are active enough by either riding around city or by workout(bicycle is the best) so that your body will not be subjected to stress after rest.. 3. Get a comfy seat/air seat/gel seat/added foam in existing seat/cushioning seat cover.. these will help aswell. 4. Take your 1st break after covering 50% of total distance for the day.. that way you have covered most of distance when being fully energetic. Rest of the distance take a short break every 100kms or 1 hour of riding(do some streches during break) Hope these help :)

Hi, can you please suggest which is a better option to go for between Thunderbird 350, Thunderbird 500, Avenger Cruise and the Dominar 400? I know people will say you cannot compare TB with Dominar or Enfield with Bajaj etc but I want to select between these bikes only. Also I know people will say that TB and the others are for different uses etc, but I want to know which is the best bike out of these for my overall usage. My use is for daily commuting of about 50kms and occasional touring. My height is about 5.7 and I am on the heavier side. Budget is about 2.2 lacs. Your honest suggestion would be really appreciated. Or shall I wait for any other upcoming bikes you recommend? Thank you.
@Sohelahmedkhan
@Sohelahmedkhan 7 жыл бұрын
+Navin Peters hi naveeen... Youve got one of tbe main requirement fulfilled i.e of initial investment of 2.2 lakhs... Coming to bikes it is not very easy to pin point directly at which bike is best for you because that is something which only you can decide..although i will try to put points as per my knowledge which shall help you in deciding that. There can be multiple scenarios which could apply in your case so let me try to break it down. Scenario 1 : money isnt a issue In this case i advice you to remove avenger cruise and thunderbird 350 straight off, and you remain with thunderbird 500 and dominar.. Both the bikes look big but they are pretty nimble for riding, although thunderbird is more on the raw side and dominar is on refined side, for city riding both will have almost same fuel economy, almost same weights, dominar is more of power in numbers but thunderbird torque isnt far behind. So not much to differentiate between tb500 and dominar here just upto your liking. Main difference starts when you talk about highway rides...now if you want a bike which can cruise between 100 to 110kmph with ease and also has a soul to it then tb500 is for you. If you like to ride fast and cover long distances in a day and cruise around 130kmph then dominar is for you. To sum it up i would conclude it as : Avenger and tb350 not recommended. Highway cruiser - tb500 Sport cruiser - dominar. Now let me come to another scenario Scenario 2 : budget does counts. Cheapest in all terms wise avenger cruise comes first, becuase its cheapest to buy and cheapest to maintain and also for fuel. Fuel costs per month : If u ride 50kms a day..220 cruise gives you 40kmpl in city easily, so at end of month you will ride 1200kms and approximate fuel cost would be 2000 inr. Thunderbird 350 also would cost the same interms of fuel costs i.e 2000 inr Thunderbird 500 which gives 30kmpl avg in city will cost you 2800inr Dominar which gives same fuel economy as tb500 i.e around 30kmpl will again cost you 2800inr So if you talk about 1 year then avenger and tb350 would cost you 24000inr for fuel and tb500, dominar would cost you 34,000inr per year. Initial investment : Avenger is cheapest around 1.1 lakh i assume Dominar and tb350 both are around 1.5 lakh Tb500 is the most expensive of 2.1 lakh on road So in terms of initial investment tb500 is the costly. So if you talk about owning a bike for 4 years then Avenger - 1.1 lakh initial cost + 96k fuel + 10k service and maintenance(basic service only, no parts and unplanned repairs included) = 2.16 lakhs Thunderbird350 - 1.5 lakhs + 96k fuel + 10k service and maintenance(no parts or unplanned repairs included) = 2.56 lakhs Thunderbird 500 - 2.1 lakhs + 1.36 lakh fuel + 10k service (no parts or unplanned repairs included) = 3.56 lakhs Dominar 400 - 1.65 lakhs + 1.36 lakhs fuel + 10k service (no parts or unplanned repairs included) = 3.06 lakhs Looking at these approximate values i can tell you tb500 has the least value for money as a bike and dominar looks most value for money while avenger comes as cheapest in all categories and last but not least tb350 can satisfy value + desire of owning a RE. After this very lengthy reply i would like to conclude the whole things as : TB 500 if you have money, dont mind spending on fuel, love torque, and most importantly royal enfield experience and a bike with character. Dominar if you want speed, looks, instruments, high speed cruising. TB350 if you want relaxed riding, slow speed cruising, royal enfield experience, decent fuel economy. Avenger if you cant afford above bikes, cheapest to buy, cheapest to run, trouble free, very reliable, least in terms of character.

Hi, thank you very much for this detailed response. However, just had another query about the maintenance cost of TB per year? I visited the showroom and they said all the earlier niggles have been sorted and I also happened to witness a customer shouting at the manager for service issues. But I still read a lot of negative reviews about the problems with TB. Though Im inclined towards the TB, I dont want to spend much on maintenance etc as Im looking for comfort after putting in so much money. But, still confused as I like the TB but the negative opinions are stopping me from going ahead. Also, I would like to know if all the earlier issues reported like tappet sound, headlight beam issues, oil leakage issues etc have been corrected by Enfield or not? Please help out. Thank you.
@Sohelahmedkhan
@Sohelahmedkhan 7 жыл бұрын
hi, to be very frank those problems still exist....i was in same situation as you are now and used to hear about the levels of service quality at RE, but only after buying the bike i was assured that whatever i had heard was nothing but the truth...service guys are pathetic, they are overloaded with the number of bikes coming in to workshop and hence they are unable to deliver the quality. coming to tappet sound, it i depends on some bikes you wont get any tappet noise but on some you do get very bad tappet noise. my friend bought a classic 350 along with me and trust me that bike is as smooth as butter with not a single sound....but you need to understand that tappet sound is not a mechanical problem it is something which needs to be adjusted periodically and it differs depending on engine temperature. so if you are keeen on buying RE you shd be able to live with these small nudges. service and parts are surprisingly very cheap for RE which is a very good point and also they dont trouble you much when the bike is in warranty, they just replace the parts and charge you minimum. problems i have faced on my bike were : 900kms - rear wheel bearings started making sounds and found out to be damaged upon inspection(although RE dosent makes bearings on their own so it can happen to any bike) they charged me nothing for this job. 4000kms - engine tappet sound(job done for free) but not upto mark, tappet noise returned back in few hundred kms 5000kms - engine tapppet sound(job done for free again) this time they got a expert mechanic onto it and got it recitified by adjusting properly.. so yeah shouting does help sometimes :P and bro to be honest, i love all these small issues, visitng service center now and then, constantly worried in back of my mind what would go wrong...all of these things are part of RE and adds to the charm of riding a old school motorcycle :P if you dont want alll of these hassles, and if visitng service centers and befriending mechanics bothers you then i strongly suggest you should opt for dominar 400.

Hi Khan saheb.. like the way you have summed up your observations and points above. Like Navin, I am also bit confused about TB 500. The EFI system seems to be lil low on quality. Would you mind sharing some tips on how you take care of this ? I heard/read that it is very sensitive and needs lot of pampering...

Bro I am planning to buy Thunderbird but as per your comments I see that TB 500 is made for long rides and cruising, which is what I'm exactly looking for.. However my question is; 1) I'm mashallah healthy with height about 6'ft.. Is it worth going for this beast as I would compromise with average little bit for a better performance, cuz I'll be riding only on weekends. 2) Since it has a fuel injector does it needs to have a minimum quantity of fuel to be stored in the tank regardless whether we use it or no? If so then how much amount of fuel does it require.. 3) Can you also advice me on the fuel gauge ? Does it shows the correct amount of fuel left in the tank and how likely does that part needs to be replaced? These are my few concerns if you could pls help me so I could go for the right bike. And by the way miyaan tume maut daal dete aisa video banaye.. You earned a new subscriber..

Assalamualaikum, For your questions: 1. There are plenty of more powerful bikes available but 500 has a charm and makes ypu smile everytime you ride it(but beware of maintenance as it is a demanding bike which needs alot of regular care and maintenance every now and then) and for your height aswell it shd be good but i suggest take a test ride. 2. Yes you are right always needs 4 to 5 ltrs in tank always. 3. Fuel gauge is crap. It blinks for low fuel even when there is 7 ltrs of fuel in tank. Anynore questions i can answer so dont hesitate :)
