Don't worry Saffy, it's a great bike. I've had mine for 2 years now and have loved every minute. Have several other bikes but the feel when riding my Himmi is special.

@@SaffySprocket Kind of! The end of the chapter one when Royal Enfield turned from a cheapo maker to a budget quality brand. Andi it kind of is, as the to my knowledge the first one or two years the production was troubled by loads of issues and the quality of the bikes was, like, half-good. Then some big wig (Not bog wig, Möppes!) decided that had to change, left no stone unturned, and when RyanF9 asked viewers for samples of the first oil of their bikes at the first oil change in 2020, the RE bike scored the best result, even beating Honda and BMW etc. They had the lowest particle count in the oil which is a direct indicator of production quality of the mechanical parts. As far as I know the Himy did inspire that company to take a HUGE step! It got countless adventurers going. Itchy Boots did her first two seasons on them which helped her reach legendary status, several other adventurers on KZfaq chos ethem as their firsts for all the reasons you listed. Marin (Channel Wild She Goes) apparently plans a journey on hers, German KZfaqrs Adventurist travelled two up with theirs, nataontheroad travels with one. In a few years, the Himy has built quite a heritage! That's a story worth telling, I think. If you play with the idea of actually going there and doing a video like I suggested, maybe ask the Swedish band Arcana if you can get a license to use a song or two of theirs! As my days with the black scene are waaaaay back, I only know seriously old works by them, but songs lie Season of Thought, God of the Winds (**Pflerz, parp!**) Opening of the Wound might be wonderfully over the top there! 🤗 And maybe ask the peeps at RE for how right my interpretation of things was? There's good content for your channel in that!

I have a 2022 in Houston TX and have couple 570 mile trips under the belt Expressways and highways included. Love it although it could be a little faster… just got a seat concepts Tall seat for mine and as a heavier guy I love my sweet Himi! Is it basic - yes absolutely part of the charm really! Enjoy the ride!!!! The bike is measured in miles of smiles!

hey Saffy great review, 800mm seat height is still a little high for me. im on tippee toes when i sat on one. on a different note i kept getting distracted by your phone sat near the edge of seat thinking any minute now thats going to fall off :)

When I first started hearing about Royal Enfield and the Himalayan I thought looked like a great bike for Top Knot Hipsters out of central casting.. no way it could replace my LC8 since then I've seen riders on them up in the mountains where I ride and a friend bought a used one and it is a great fun machine... Now I kinda want one.

I recently bought a 2019 Himmy and love it. Fuel economy is amazing and the ride is perfect. Been off road and keeps up with the 2 CRFs my mates use. Perfect little machine. Planning a RTW on it

love the styling, my friend has a continental GT and is a qualified bike mech just chopped it in for a CB 500 X. Enfields are good fun and all but they need more TLC than japanese bikes. Im looking to get the new transalp but at nearly ten grand its more likely going to be the 500 X, im pushing 40 and the sport bikes are murderous on my wrists these days.

@@andyc750 I'm referring to people I've personally spoken to who transported it in a van/trailer to Scotland and said" ideal for bimbling about but I wouldn't ride it up here! Their Himalayas were a second bike and they left the bigger bikes at home.

I went with the Himmy over the Honda but like you was a close call. So far as a first bike more than happy with it! P.s the money I saved went on camping gear.

As it must be going out off production in the coming weeks, you could have made this video a requiem for the 411! Sombre goth music, a black bike, dress in black, film on Black Street, have some supernumeraries ready that will break out in tears when thy look at the bike, that kind of vibe. 🤔 🤗

I have a 2020. I do 400km on a tank. Great when on my own. Not so good for overtaking or in a group context. I love it and will keep it as it will soon be worthless, financially speaking. Second bike arriving soon.

I'd love to see a 3 year review with at least a 25,000-mile on the clock . It would be interesting to services reports and breakdown reports. I've bought a Royal Alloy scooter, this year, yes cheap as chips indeed. To be honest, I've viewed the purchase as a massive gamble. I've always had Vespas, which are renowned for their reliability and performance. I'm wondering if my grandmother was right, "buy cheap buy 2" Only time and miles on the clock will tell if she was correct.

A bit like me - cheap and simple 😅. I love a bargain. Excellent on road manners and great for newbie off roaders. I have some niggles with it, but very bike has some. Can be found well under list price now as they will probably be discontinued when the new 450 arrives. Everyone should have one.

Norely (Itchy Boots) did 22,500 miles on first one, an Indian version couldn't be imported in to Europe, once she got home. 2nd. Himalayan shipped to South America; 12,000 miles before stuck in Peru, when Covid closed the world down. Yet, we still have the comments 'You can't go far on it'. Go figure !!

The ones I’ve dyno’d have been between 18-20bhp, which isn’t a lot for a 200kg bike. I get the appeal but you’d need to do a lot of off tarmac work for it to make sense. On tarmac they are only a click above a good 125 in most situations.

Done hrs on the motorway on mine 70+ mph with camping gear. I agree though it can chug a bit so best to stick to country roads much happier in the 60mph zone. Just have to give yourself an extra hr for longer journeys or be prepared to go a bit longer...

Two stunners I would say😊 however, Saff, the CB500x soon to become the NX500 is a better quality bike, I would say. Bigger tank. Over 300 miles on a tank. More powerful engine and torque. It is a nice bike, but when you compare your bike and this one, CB is a better one. Talking of the CB500x, I let you know when I have the NX500. Fancy doing a comparison?

The 452 is in the 40 horsepowers. Apparently a very different beast to the 411.

All they needed to do was put the new engine in this. The new bike is so much less appealing visually, aside from the black one with the gold wheels which is marginally easier on the eye.

@@johna6968 I like the 452. It looks like a crossover between the Himalayan and the early Yamaha XT500. The ground clearance was improved, which was a big point with many Himalayan owners when off-roading. You couldn't have done that with the 411's frame, I guess.

The bike is cheap and if you want to modify it... that's cheap too!Imagine putting on a slip on exhaust,DNA air filter kit,iridium spark plug and a ECU for only +- 430 euro's 😮 I'm happy with my choice for the Himmy 😊

[Only 600 km exp. and impression]: Went for the Himalayan as a first bike and got it with a lot of accessories (everything useful and nice; ca. 2.5k €) and with only 6k kms for 4.2k € (2020). I went straight for the purchase after testing it. It feels really robust and clunky (I like that) and the style of the analogue instruments, the overall look and the growling engine do their feel-good magic at every ride. Yes, you will notice that you cant accelerate very fast and that the engine does not like to go for highways... Breaking is not as "easy" - you will learn to use the engine break and rear-wheel break more often, due to the very forgiving front-wheel break... But in the end this makes it not a cheap or bad bike - its an alternative concept :p ... It feels great between 30-80 km/h and the engine break sounds godlike (supercar-ish). Switching gears works very smooth. The seat position is comfortable and upright. Like a knight in the saddle of a strong horse - the ride is straight and steady. So, I really enjoy it so far and have not the feeling of missing something out (cb500x would have been another option). After purchasing the bike you will thank yourself, still having left some money - especially as newbie (without tools and equipment). Cant wait for spring and summer.

I have owned a 500x but sold it for a 660 tiger sports that was big mistake I also nearly bought the the 411 but I have just now bought the new 452 but it not in the country tell march and yes I have had no test run and yes I'm going to be glad to see the back off my 660 as for me it not fit for purpose

Personally I think the 450 is not going to be as good as the 411. The 4:50 has more gadgets to go wrong without that much of an improvement in performance. And the 411 is definitely better looking

If it has a maximum range of 210 miles from 15 litres then that is only 63 miles to the gallon at it's best, which is not that impressive for that type of bike. My old CBF500 would get over 60mpg and the new Honda 500 range gets up to 80mpg. The CB300R and Triumph speed 400 can get up to 90mpg. The Hornet 750 and Suzuki 8S can get over 65mpg.

Spent a day doing green lanes on the himalayan, basically its crude slow and horrible. You dodged a bullet by getting the Honda. As they say you get what you pay for.
