Wonderful to see this. My Dad was a petty officer on HMS Eagle having served through WW2. I have a few photos from him of this day but seeing the footage has been quite special. Thank you. A happy day for him after some very hard times in battles.

3 of my late dads ships were featured here, Agincourt, Contest and Magpie that must have been an amazing sight. I remember seeing the 77 review and as a 13 year old was in awe of seeing all those warships in the Solent. Thanks for posting.

Just look at what Pride we had for our Royal Navy back in the day !!! Now we have maybe 30 major Surface ships and no fighters !!! I'm glad we are getting two new CVFs but they should have been built with Cats & Traps ! That way we could be more effective with the US Navy and French (cross decking) plus the US Navy's F-35C is a more effective fighter ( longer range, more payload, less money and less maintenance ) a bad choice again by us !!! It would be more cost effective in the long run and F-35C would be available sooner ! God save the Royal Navy RN 1978-1986
