Replace your air filter by yourself!

The air filter is an important part of the air intake that’s responsible for keeping the air that goes into your engine free of contaminants, it’s good to replace these filters to keep your car running smooth BUT don’t waste your hard earned money at the mechanics for something so easy! You can do this yourself and it’ll only take a few minutes tops.

Look inside box to make sure all dirt/ sand is not in air intake or bottom of box , vacuum then replace filter.

I came here because my mechanic said my engine and cabin air filters were dirty and they wanted $85. I figured I could go to dealership to buy OEM parts and do it myself.

You can. A lot you can do yourself. There’s tutorials for just about everything nowadays. Most places want $200 in labor just to change a simple part. I had to replace a camshaft sensor on mine. They wanted over $300 to do it. I’m like nope. Found out it was literally one bolt and a brand new OEM part cost $20. Did it in like 10min myself.

Same. They try to act like the labor is so hard so they can charge those prices. My dad is a mechanic but he lives thousands of miles away so I’m currently finding different videos on how to maintain my car on my own lol

Is that for the Ac or more for the engine? Because they also have the cabin filter too just don’t know if I need to replace that too because my car has some sort of cigarette smell coming from the vents inside.

Take your current air filter with you to the parts store

Just drive to the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts on King and Punahou Street, remove the filter there in the parking lot. As you go inside, you can clean your hands with a Handi-Wipe from the dispenser and let them match up the filter for you. It’s really that simple. 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
