See what it takes to service and replace all the seals in your RP23 fox float shock on your mountain bike.
The fox manufacturer part number for this kit is 803-00-142 or you can easily purchase the kit in the link below.

I also noticed on mine there was a small leak from behind the pro pedal lever. There is a small o-ring there that is not replaceable with basic tools. So I am going to leave it as is until I need to get a new shock entirely. Fox's service center can fix this problem though if you are experiencing this.

thanks! I have an older Pivot Mach 4 and the little lever is loose and floppy - does something else need to be replaced? Or can I find a new RP23 to purchase? I converted this bike to Bafang electric power - the extra weight may have caused shock failure...

I’ve got hope everywhere as I’m from Yorkshire England. Lol I’ve had it since new in 2008 so sentimentally it’s worth the upgrade plus I’m sure you’ll understand......I feel one with it haha

Great video, very informative and well explained. Having just done my RS lyriks for the first time the other day I feel confident I’ll be able to tackle this although my lyriks are sprung which I like on the front(more forgiveness with abusive use) lol I’m doing my Rp2 on my 2008 kona coilair I’m sure you know bikes and know that I’ve swapped the front forks hence the coilair instead of coiler. Is the procedure pretty much the same on an rp2 I’d imagine so but I’m a believer in asking someone who knows better. Lol those internal seals look like they require patience there’s a similar one in the lyric mission control damper only it’s the size of a penny.......many frustrating attempts to get it in nice. I think patience is key with jobs like this. You break.........you break! Lol Thanks for this video the rest where foreign Eastern European mostly. Good for them but hard to understand.

I have an old 2007 specialised enduro. When I opened the air can it was full of oil. Presume this is not meant to be there?

After a rebuild my shock is leaking oil on the first ride out. It's leaking thru the dust seal onto the shaft. Everything went just like you did it. I saw another KZfaq video where it said to use the whole tube of oil. Will this cause the seepage? It hasn't lost any air pressure. Just wondering.

I'm not sure. I tend to make sure to follow specs when available. Over filling oil does seem like it could seep out, but not sure why it would. Best of luck Geoff!

Besides my shock not holding air, I noticed some oil coming out of the pp switch, is there a seal I can replace there?

I have the same issue. I have researched it and it is possible but pretty technically challenging. Plus you have to get creative since it requires specialty tools. Your best bet might be to send it in to the Fox factory.. I plan to try to replace mine this winter and document it. Good luck man!

Not sure without any more detail. It could be the valve core on the pump connection. Or somewhere a seal could be bad. Really tough to tell until you get into it. Might want to throw some soapy water on it and look for bubbles.

what pressure do you use? Do you ride downhill with them,?

Hey! I ride a lot of XC but I have had this setup out west before on some moderate downhill and smaller jumps. This is definitely not a good setup for downhill or jumping. I ride my rp23 at 175psi but it depends on your bike geometry and rider weight. Fox has a good rider weight scale you can find online as a good starting point. Start there and dial it in. Thanks for watching!

I didn't know that at the time that is for sure. Do you have any resources on how that gets changed. All I could find was telling everyone if needs to be done by Fox with specialty tools.

You never touched the oil!!! No one is making a 100hour video for full rebuild! The oil in the main piston wears out in less then 20 hours... seals in the air chaimber don’t really matter conspired to bad oil! You see that Allen nut at the end of the shaft? That’s the oil Rez!

I had no idea that was there. Thanks for the tip. If/when I rebuild again I will do some more research! Thanks for watching!
