This is my second Black Reserve Knife by Rough Ryder. Again, the knife is a bit on the wide side but is well made with great action. It offers an interesting take on the those who collect Doctor Knives.

I have the Black Reserve locking copper head. It is fat the one end but slims out nicely toward the bolster. Thanks for the vid. Like the doctor's knife.

Good review Tobias, and a good Doc's knife. I think 3.62-3.75" is their standard length. A longer single blade doctors knife (4"- 413") would be cool but so far I've found that a slimline trapper fits that bill and there are several makers to choose from. Thanks buddy.

I think the larger the frame, the more acceptable the width becomes. I need to grab the locking copperhead.

The Black Reserve definitely needs to be thinner and have a more elegant look to it. The Rough Ryder Tortoise Shell is spot on.

The width of the knife makes the proportions pretty bizarre. Thanks for sharing! The pattern on the wood makes me think of parquet flooring.

I have the gunstock in the parka wood. I love how it looks and I am not planning on carrying it. So its perfect for me

I think the thickness would be less noticeable on a Gunstock.

Love your channel. I just can't get into collecting cheap Chinese knives even though the quality is probably better than Case. Look forward to some US made reviews as your reviews are on point.

I have some USA made knives coming up soon. I know some folks feel the quality of the Chinese knives are better than Case. I'm probably in the minority, there. Case is definitely your better value purchase, especially if you're a collector. They use a better grade of material all around. And the funny thing is, when it comes to a user knife, the things people complain about when it comes to a Case knife really doesn't affect the the functionality or usefulness of the knife. So often they make their judgement based one just one bad experience. I think you can tell from my channel, that I have traditional pocket knives from a wide variety of brands from around the world. I've been doing this for a few years. I do my best to be objective. Also, I can 100% respect your views when it comes to Chinese made knives. Many of the Chinese knives are well made ut some folks would just rather by a USA made knife.

I guess it is okay or you could get used to it. But it is a little awkward at first. You know where this width would go almost unnoticed? In a sunfish!
