Nice review. You have covered everything including the fact it uses the same oil that goes into piston for active cooling. Also this bike have literally ZERO negative reviews about the engine. Only few negative reviews due to the brake feedback and rusting issues. The only upgrades needed are the quick throttle and better brake master cylinder. After replacing the master cylinder for the brakes this bike will have zero issues. And a fact that a lot of people fail to realize is that the low end torque from 1000 to 3000 rpm is the best in segment. The duke have better mid range and top end. But the throttle play in gixxer 250 is big so people have to put in effort to extract power (Linear power delivery but hard to accelerate quick). This is why it needs quick throttle.

Brilliant segment analysis. Gixxer 250 is a better choice than its sibling too, the Gixxer SF250, as clip ons foul with the fuel tank during U turns, and are therefore limited to a larger turning radius apart from higher kerb weight by about 6-7 kgs. But I am told the Apache RTR 200 4 V though not in this cc class scores better with a smoother gear box, better ground clearance and lesser vibrations.

Thank you so much! Yes the faring version will also be slightly less practical! But some people (including me) do it for the looks 😜 TVS really did a good job with the new generation of Apaches! The 160 4V / 200 4V took engine refinement to another level. They activity worked on the vibration. Night and day diffrence when compared to the 2V generation. Vibration is something that the RR310 still struggles with even after the BMW influence on the engine.

Hi bro, great video. One question tho. What would be difference in the cruising speed of this one and honda cb350? max speed & also the speed with little to no vibration?
@butimjeremy
@butimjeremy 2 жыл бұрын
So both bikes in question are of totally different segments. The CB350 is a retro classic motorcycle... Royal Enfield silhouette. 5 speed and 20 bhp is just okay. From that stand point the Gixxer 250 will perform better when it comes to speed and refinement at those higher speeds. Gixxer has a 6 speed gearbox and 26bhp. I haven't tested the CB but i can say that the format of the motorcycle combined with the spec sheet says that the Gixxer would have more speed. That being said...the CB sits in a class of its own.

Considering going with Gixxer 155 instead of the 250 because of the fuel price hikes. The Gixxer 155 has an air-cooled engine though, how much of a deal breakerwould it be for someone who intends to use the bike mainly to commute to college and work? Would the new N160 with its reportedly super-refined engine be a better deal than the Gixxer 155?
@butimjeremy
@butimjeremy Жыл бұрын
This is a interesting question ! So the Gixxer 155 engine is the same unit from the first generation Gixxer sooo it is older but also matured enough that mechanics understand the problems. My friend has the first generation Gixxer...he faced some issues with the fuel tank leaked paint and eventually even the engine had to be rebuilt. It's possible that Suzuki have fixed these problems with the next generation. The N160 takes alot of inspiration from the bigger 250 twins so it looks bigger and the engine is new. Yes the engine is refined and bajaj has taken time to tune it for maximum torque and low RPMs. There's also the advantage of dual channel ABS and a big bike feel with the N160. The Suzuki Gixxer 155 is good but honestly I haven't seen many on the road compared to the first generation. If you do go for the Gixxer check for service centres around you. If you go for the Bajaj service shouldn't be a problem. You'll get more power and torque, especially the torque is useful in the city. I would recommend watching some long term reviews of the N250s and 160s to see what kind of issues if any are there on the motorcycle, only because it's a relatively new engine.
@basicbeaver
@basicbeaver Жыл бұрын
@@butimjeremy Thanks for a detailed response. And yeah Suzuki does have less service centers and less showrooms. I hear its resale value is relatively less as well. But it is also not as common as Apaches and FZs so I guess that comes with the territory. One concern I have with the Indian brands is that they may not be as durable as the Japanese counterparts. Due to taxes bikes are already pretty expensive here in Nepal. Gixxer 250 for instance costs about 2.9 lakhs INR. Xpulse 200 4v costs 2.8 lakhs but I think they're just ripping us off. I don't have a lot of money so I need to look for something that won't cause any expensive problems 5 years into the future.
@butimjeremy
@butimjeremy Жыл бұрын
@@basicbeaver okay! I understand! I also go for maximum value for money product on my channel! I got my first bike in 2014...Pulsar 135LS for 70K Indian... everyone told me that the quality is not good! But it's still brilliant 52K km after and 8 years on. But that also depends on how well they are maintained. What is the cost of spare parts? You'll have to consider that too! A good lower cc Motorcycle is a investment... sometimes it's cheaper to run that even public transport. I've kept my Pulsar 135 even after my 200 RS came in...only because of fuel cost and efficiency
@basicbeaver
@basicbeaver Жыл бұрын
@@butimjeremy I've witnessed Pulsars lasting a very long time as well! And for some people it apparently starts giving engine issues a lot sooner. I'll have to wait and see how they'll price the N160 in our market. Hopefully they won't inflate it atrociously. I know I don't want FZ V3, so for now I'm considering Gixxer 155 and Apache 160. We'll see how the N160 will fare against them. But I have a feeling it'll be priced at around 2.4 lakhs INR but we can also get the RTR 200 4V at that price (god bless Apache for not being as greedy as Hero). If I do end up going with a 250cc bike, I don't see a more attractive offer than the Gixxer. Looks more appealing than the FZ25 for sure.
@butimjeremy
@butimjeremy Жыл бұрын
@@basicbeaver The FZ V3 is under powered for a 150cc and doesn't makes sense at that price. Apache is good too! My friend has the 4v...he's enjoying the fuel efficiency and usable power in the city. A FZ25 has alot of torque too! But again the price and efficiency of a 250cc will come into play.

The engine is extremely refined and not even a hint of vibration. And Gixxer is another gem of a machine that has a totally opposite character. I loved the fucking conclusion 😅❤. Yes Gixxer 250 is jack of all trades . You perfectly summed up all bikes in 250cc segment. But I was also looking at Honda CB300F but I am not confident that it will be selling after 3,4 years Because Honda has this habit of discontinuing bikes after 4yrs atleast plus you can only service it at Bigwing dealerships or showrooms. With fz25 discontinued people are looking at CB300F and N250 also in 2024 to make good sales in its absence . But Bajaj is now saying that they are going to bring the 300cc pulsar which also means they might kill the pulsar 250 twins as they are not selling really well . I don't like the KTM too much as they are too loud for my taste. So only Gixxer 250 remains for me 😅 as a possible upgrade over BS4 150cc gixxer . Do you think Gixxer 250 is a good upgrade over 150? Can i consider it over Honda CB300F? Please reply 🙏
@butimjeremy
@butimjeremy 6 ай бұрын
If you are upgrading from a 150 I'd say get a 300 or a 400. It's double the power but just enough to keep you away from trouble. The new KTM Duke 250 is a good platform. I'd also suggest the CB300R if the budget allows, because it is expensive. The Dominar 400 is there but it's very heavy and isn't really comfortable in the city. About the new Pulsars! I think there will be 2. One 300cc which will use the new KTM 250 engine that has a SOHC setup and one that will use the current D400 or old 390 engine. If this happens I don't think the Dominar 400 will stick around for too long.

@@butimjeremy See I will be using the bike for city mostly with some occasional touring on weekends or maybe once a month. Hence it has to be fuel efficient easy to maintain, practical at the same time plus it shouldn't be too expensive like Gixxer 250 is right now with Ride connect at 2.40 lakhs on road in Mumbai. I don't have that budget so I am going to exchange 150 for 200 or 300cc segment bike. Heck I am also looking at NS200 because I used to like it back in old times but it didn't have basic safety features like Dual channel ABS 😅 in past. But now it's well equipped with USD forks, Gear indicator, real time fuel efficiency And Dual channel ABS. Husqvarna 250 is not a very comfortable motorcycle and the CB350 is comfortable. I'd suggest the Triumph Speed 400. And if you want a 250cc then new Duke 250 / adv 250. If you like RE then the hunter 350 is also a good option.

Suzuki, Yamaha, & Honda which brand engine is more durable for long term ??
@butimjeremy

Honda then Yamaha then Suzuki! That used to be the line-up! But many things have changed... Indian manufacturers have stepped up big time. Also durability depends on how the owner maintains it as much as the RND to develop a good engine.

Hello guys if anyone wants to buy this bike let me tell you that I'm planning to sell my Gixxer 250 naked model which I own on 16 Dec 2021. It's just completed 435KM with first service done. Gixxer 250 is super smooth and powerful bike in 250 segment, road presence is exquisite. We are planning to buy new car so want to sell it.

@@sarthakshahpurkar7380 Between the two the Gixxer would be more mature and easy on the pocket. I think the Gixxers engine is well made. The Honda is not a real 300 it's more like 200 with a lot more torque. I would go for the Gixxer if it was my money. The ADV tho.

@@butimjeremy But now the CB comes around 15-20k cheaper then the gixxer, with lot more features and better looks, i agree that the top speed of CB might be less than gixxer but I think the acceleration 0-100 will be at par the gixxer 250, correct me if I am wrong wrong. And that’s why it has become a very VFM product now, and so I am very confused. CB is costing me exact 2lk on road, and the gixxer will cost around 2.20lk after festival offers and all

@@sarthakshahpurkar7380 Yeah Honda had a price correction. But with the power figures it's making, it's right in the ball park of something like the KTM Duke and RC 200. The KTM and Suzuki are much better in product maturity and they are true 200-250s which are exciting. I look at the Honda as a underpowed 300. It's very refined and great in the city but I wouldn't buy it because it's not as exciting as the others.

I think they just released the bike and let it be! I didn't see alot of talk about it after the initial reviews. In addition I think many people buying motorcycles in that segment think that oil cooling is a very low cost thermal solution. Now they've launched the ADVs ! Let's see what happens.

See for yourself... Yamaha's new bike launch speculation itself creates ripple in the market and yet you don't see the product get launched for months. First of all 🥇 Thanks for the comment 😄 Both are great city motorcycles. They are well suited for the city hustle. You'll get more power on the Gixxer but better fuel efficiency and technology with the MT15. I would go for the MT15 only because it's got a very good engine that makes good power for the city runs and comes with features like USD forks & liquid cooling.
