No you don't have to disconnect the HMI as long as you have a port available to download the PLC program with.

Dear sir, I have RSLogix Micro software but some instructions are not active. Do you think that the reason is in this software I can only choose PLC type 1000 or 1100 but I found out somewhere the people who have RSLogix 500 Pro are allowed to choose PLC type 1400 or others and then most instructions are active. Is this right ? Some of these instructions are not active is CPT in Compute/Math !!!

It doesn't have anything to do with your particular software license. It has to do with the PLC model. Not all instructions are available and every PLC model. The CPT instruction won't be available in the Micrologix 1000 or 1100 but you can use all the math instructions to do the same thing. Just takes a little more work.

Does this downlad for the communications interrupt the process?

Yes, a download switches the processor to program mode, stopping the process. Most of the PLCs do support online editing which can be used to make changes without interrupting the process.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but won't this download clear if the PLC gets powered off? Don't you need to store to EEPROM to have the PLC load your program when it powers-up? Thank you for the videos!

Hi Mark. Not wrong if you have an EEPROM, but 99% of PLCs don't have EEPROMs

Sounds like you're RsLogix 500 version is too old.

@@habibcm4227 Should be there after version 8.1...this isn't Micro Starter Lite is it? The free only supports the Micrologix 1000 and 1100.
