In today's video I give a quick update as to what has been going on with my HO scale 4x6' train layout "Littleville"! While there hasn't been too many changes made since I first introduced it, the changes I have made, have definitely made things much better operation wise! I hope you enjoyed today's video, thanks for watching!!

best thing i ever did was solder the flex track pieces together BEFORE laying the curve so i didnt have "dog leg" joints . excellent work !

Wish I did that too haha, nice to be ahead of the curve! Thanks for the comment!

Awesome to see the layout again, Corey! Really missed the old videos and streams with littleville 😢 Just a quick suggestion if you’d like, for your c for Corey macaroni shaped bends, wouldn’t trimming down the c’s on the inside, and then filling that space with some putty make the c’s less noticeable? Love your stuff! - Peter

Thanks for the comment Peter, glad you enjoyed the video!! I think it was for "stability sake" I kept the "C" shaped wood pieces as thick as they are because I found the thinner you get, the more flimsy the masonite wood becomes, so even having a little bit of material on the sides, or on this case the inside of the wood curves makes for all the difference. However I'll consider using putty to blend the curves in better, I just don't want them to stick to the layout itself as their design is to be retractable at a moments notice! Thanks for the comment!

Scenery is your forte..great layout. Good to see you were able to fix your curve sections.

I always found scenery to be a complicated but fun puzzle, figuring out what goes where and how to balance things to make a nice scene! However wiring is also a puzzle, one that I don’t enjoy 😂! Thanks for the comment OTSRxR!

Small layouts are fun, and this one is outstanding! I love all your detailing, Corey. The autumn leaves, the barn scene, the little downtown section, just really well done. Thanks for the update.

Glad you like my layout, I love the challenge of working in a small space it’s always a lot of fun, and I hope at some point to build more small but highly detailed layouts! Thank you for the kind words I appreciate it!

@@RsTrainsonYT It's also really cool that the road goes under the tracks, and the little (no pun intended) tunnel is a great way to create the illusion of more territory.

I remember seeing the video when you had completed it. For a simple layout and design i really like it! I especially like how the road goes under the tracks. Nice job and thanks for showing the updated version of the turns etc. Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.

Thank you so much for the kind words Shawn I appreciate it! If you remember seeing the original video when it came out then you've been following for quite some time haha! I'd love to do a video one day on the design of my layouts, or layouts in small spaces but either way Littleville doesn't get much attention on KZfaq so I wanted to do another video. Thanks for watching!

Good to see you back! I've watched your original video of the 4x6 a number of times and its great to see an update. 4x6 is actually an ideal size, especially if you want continuous running. Big layouts seem like such a great idea, but they almost always prove to be too much work to complete and keeping the trains running becomes a job in itself. As you demonstrate here, with a little imagination you can have it all in a small layout. Well done!

Thanks for the comment Karl! Like I said in another comment somewhere in this comment section, I love working in small spaces / tight configurations because it really does become a challenege to see how much of a scene you can create! The next layout I do I’ll try to make it smaller just for fun! Thanks for watching!

Looks like a win. Obviously it’s probably more of a permanent layout now. How are you going to address the tunnel going off the layout? Expand the layout ?
@RsTrainsonYT

Thanks for the comment Rose Jewel Railroad! Funny enough I often forget the tunnel even goes off the layout 😆! Maybe some day I'll get around to it, but as for now expanding it is the last thing I have in mind!

Hi Corey What are the terms new buildings on Main Street across from the depot? I noticed you moved some buildings around
@RsTrainsonYT
@RsTrainsonYT 6 ай бұрын
Oh right I forgot to mention that! I think I moved things around like 2 years ago haha. I don't know the manufacturer but they're old plastic buildings (my guess is Walthers) that someone heavily modified by adding their own decals and weathering, which I bought at a train show. Thanks for the comment and good eye!

Question, what radius did you use for your layout? I've been thinking try doing a Rutland and D&H layout
@RsTrainsonYT
@RsTrainsonYT 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question Ian! Both the outer loop and inner loop have varying radiuses instead of being an exact curve. I believe the outer flexes between a 24" - 26" radius and inner is somewhere between a 17" - 19". When transitioning from straight track to curved piece thats where I found my curves to be the sharpest, as they widen at the very ends of the layout, so they're more like an oval than a perfect circle!
