दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने जीन संवर्धित बीज (जीएम) पर दिए एक फैसले में कहा है कि कपास का बीज मुहैया कराने वाली अमेरिकी कंपनी मोनसेंटो को अपने बीज पर भारत में रॉयल्टी वसूलने का कोई हक़ नहीं है। कोर्ट ने माना कि भारत में बीज पेटेंट के दायरे में नहीं आते। विशेष के इस अंक में बात जीएम बीजों के विकास, तकनीक और इस्तेमाल पर। साथ ही बात जीएम फसलों के फायदे और नुक़सान की।
Delhi High Court has ruled that Monsanto cannot claim patents on its genetically modified (GM) cotton seeds in India. Citing an Indian law that excludes seeds from being patented, Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd (NSL) argued that the US seeds company was not eligible to claim patents and charge royalties from Indian seed companies. Ritesh Choubey Dear I agree with the view of Dr. Kalaam on G.M. crop but in contest of indian agricultural system it is a failure of policy not of the technology...!! *government should focus on The National Commission on Farmers, chaired by Prof. M. S. Swaminathan, submitted five reports through the period December 2004 - October 2006. Following from the first four, the final report focused on causes of famer distresses and the rise in farmer suicides, and recommends addressing them through a holistic national policy for farmers. The findings and recommendations encompass issues of access to resources and social security entitlements. This summary is a quick reference point highlighting the key findings and policy recommendations under land reforms, irrigation, credit and insurance, food security, employment, productivity of agriculture and farmer competitiveness. *Former President of India and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has said that breakthroughs in agricultur biotechnology have the potential to increase crop productivity and the resistance of pests and diseases.

Ritesh Choubey dear brother don't you understand what the lady said in this report...it can be harmful to humans and it is harmful...it is time to control human population not finding ways to cheat people by means of GM poison...let's talk of controlling population..and let's have what nature have to offer to us...sunami se bach jaogey..tufan se bach jaogey..bhukamp se Bach jaogey..lekin khane m zeher mil gaya toh Kya karogey...

@@bhuwankandpal1137 this report is basically adressing the issue of momento's patent and monopoly and bt cotton We have GEAC and a robust structure for regulation and monitoring .
