Can I just say that, visually, this looks like the VR group project I made in college (I study game design) and was extremely embarrassed about. Like, this is the kinda shit you never mention to your friends, but you put it in your portfolio anyway because you got nothing else to show. And no, we didn't have a 15 billion dollar budget, but we probably did have the same "who gives a fuck, this is gonna suck anyway" mindset as the Metaverse devs had.

Generally when you find yourself falling victim to a long running joke you can do two things: embrace it and play into it, like the bands Laibach and Rammstein have with people frequently mistaking them for fascists, or ignore it, as is usually the case. Zuck, being the absolute void of charisma and competence that he is, is trying to do both simultaneously and thus failing extremely hard at both.

Left FB over three years ago and haven't desire to return. They actually owe me £200 for an advertising campaign that they took from my account over ten years ago without my authority but they never got back to my complaint In person, and because you can't deal with people, I left the platform. I also have no desire to see what people are "updating" in their profiles and this game doesn't appeal to me AT ALL. I also reported a human trafficking post, which was found to not be against their community standards, but the next day was put into FB prison for sharing info in groups, so when a website allows the sale of 14 year old girls on live FB video and not the sharing of educational text information , I was fully aware by then that FB, is probably one of the worst platforms on the planet.

@@Shcreamingreen Well, the good part is that nobody seems to be really buying into it. That particular program/world/whatever is doing spectacularly badly, about as badly as it's possible for a "social" app of its type to do, while being utterly outclassed by things like VRChat (which is free) in every way. On top of that, there's the fact that people are totally used to the now traditional "likes" system used basically everywhere now. I suspect many will be totally baffled and appalled by the idea that they have to pay actual money JUST to give likes in this setting, when absolutely every other service/site/whatever doesnt have such a stupid concept in it. This whole thing is an example of one of these companies finally overstaying their welcome, during a time when people are slowly getting more and more fed up with this type of nonsense. And all this taking place in a space only accessible by a technology that most cannot use yet! What a ridiculous idea. Here's hoping that it continues to fail.

I didnt know they have been working on it for quite a long time and it was already released. It looks like some sort of embarassing Wii-Textures. This is like some early 2000-stuff. I cant believe they have realized this. Who would want to spend time and money in there instead of RL? I have seen a documentary where they sais Metaverse is supposed to be the next bing thing and companies are already buying shops and stuff so that people can shop prada and stuff in the metaverse. They even sold property for like a million or something. Who the heck spends to much money for non existent things? Why would I buy I house in a virtual reality which doesnt serve any purpose? Coming from someone who's been deep in both recroom and horizons creator community's, recroom acts way more corporate. Honestly the metaverse is not done at all but if you're in the community you can see how quickly it's developing. So right now not the most marketable thing ever but coming from someone who's been in the vr space for 5 years it's the only game making a push and starting to make progress. Like even on the commission end of things people will actually pay artists fairly as opposed to recroom where a kids like "i can pay $20 for an entire world". Personally I see a lot of potential and I think it'll be on top in about 2-3 years as a social/creative vr space for adults.

I think that cell phones and vr have a huge problem, the lack of feedback, everything is virtual, nothing exists so you have no idea when you are touching something, that is why is so hard to interact with anything, video games joysticks as simple as they are, have buttons, so you always know where you have to press in order to interact, I don't know, maybe its necessary to look for a way to give feedback through virtual controllers or maybe is necessary to step back and don't remove the buttons in the middle.

I have to give the devs some mad respect for this. They straight up scammed zuck out of $15 billion. This game was literally made in unity. One person could make this entire game on their phone over the weekend. That's baller as fuck

@@gnack420 I'm guessing Facebook probably has some sort of infrastructure similar to how government bills end up getting split up. Like for example, if a government has a Bill that they want to make new roads, then a lot of Congressmen will probably stick on a whole bunch of other smaller things like splitting the funds for charities and other organizations until there's not really any money left for those new roads.

@@shablam0 I mean, they work like any other business. They have a budget and in the budget they assign X amount of money to each initiative that they're undertaking, and $15 billion is what they allocated to the Metaverse nonsense. It's a complete waste of money I totally agree, I was only objecting to the idea that it goes directly into developer pockets. It's everything: salaries, office expenses, computers, software licenses, outside contractors, research and development, prototyping, production, materials, labour, etc etc, the list goes on and on.

I remember in the new Ducktales they had a supervillain who built up this huge project he was working on, only for them to find out at the end of the episode that "Project Ta-da" was made of literally nothing but hype. It was an empty room that he had tricked a bunch of people into investing in. Oh yeah, *Mark Beaks.* I can only assume "Mark Duckerburg" was scrapped for being a little too on the nose.

There are so many, many, many projects like this in the game developing ecosystem, billions lost in scams alone... Mark will regret changing the name of his project, since now he is the "face" of all these scams, the super villain branding would have been epic.
