~~~~~~Server Information~~~~~
To join my Minecraft server, head to my Twitch channel and type !server for the login information. You must be subscribed on Twitch to join, and have a Discord account. This is so we can moderate and manage the server due to demand. The server is open 24/7 and has a survival world, as well as a museum of every past build we've done on the channel.
New Earth Build Rules:
-No obnoxious floating text. No obnoxiously tall buildings.
-Respect the coastline and borders. Islands, continents and countries should retain their shape.
-Build the best you can. Low effort and unfinished constructions will be removed.
-Your building cannot just be a flag.
-No contemporary politics.
-No depictions of war, recent mass tragedy, racism or discrimination or hate symbols of any kind.
-Railways must be at ground level. Railways in the air are considered low effort and too tall. We recommend an underground metro instead.
-No pixel art. We find that this obscures other builds, and we plan to provide a space later.
~~~~~~~~Extra Things~~~~~~~~
Special thanks to Nitrous Networks for hosting our Minecraft server. See their site for quality server hosting across a variety of games: nitrous-networks.com/
Music is Xenoblade Chronicles DE - Colony 9 & Frontier Village.

This is our best take on New Russia! It's not geographically correct with our solid southern border, but that's only because Russia is so massive already. There was a lot that couldn't be featured in the 8 hours it took to tour this part of the server - I'd strongly recommend watching the broadcast on my Stream Archive Channel, which you can find here: kzfaq.info/love/yUmevTef0H-pFaspmfTb3Q If anyone is looking for server information or login information, you can find all of it in the description of the video. The server is open 24/7 for Twitch Subscribers. And thank you to everyone who took part in this session!

OK so they're mixing up two instances of Olga of Kiev's savagery. Basically, this tribe named the Drevlians didn't want to pay taxes, so they killed the king Olga's husband. Then, to secure their powergrab, their leader wanted to marry her and sent some advisors to propse. She asked to honour them by letting them be carried in boats, which they accepted. At the end of the parade, Olga had some trenches dug, in which the diplomats were thrown and burried alive. Olga then sent a letter to the Drevlian leader accepting his proposal only if he sent his top advisors. When they arrived, Olga offered them a bathhouse in which to rest from the journey and subsequently burned the building to the ground with the advisors inside. The thing with the birds happens later after Olga had amassed an army and laid siege to the Drevlian capital for a year. She offered peace in exchange for a tribute consisting of three pigeons and three sparrows from each houshold. To every bird was bound some cloth with a bit of sulphur which was ignited as the birds were released. As they flew home, their nests acted like tinder and the entire city caught on fire simulaniously. PS: Olga of Kiev is also a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church

That Olga story is incorrect. Those were three different stories they’re mixing up. She did use sparrows and pigeons to light a revolting city on fire by tying tiny sacks to their feet and lighting them on fire. When the birds flew back to their nests the nests acted as kindling, igniting the house. For the sauna there was a city state trying to lay claim to Kiev via marriage. Olga saw through this and killed the initial mailmen then sent a message saying she accepted but needed a group of the cities elites to escort her. When they arrived she offered them a rest in the sauna, then locked the door and burned it down. She is a saint btw

More about Saint Olga of Kiev (yes, she's a saint): after her husband was killed, the killers first sent negotiators to convince Olga to marry the killer. She responded by having them, in their boat, carried into the city and dropped into a trench, where they were quickly buried alive. Then she summoned more nobles (who didnt know about the first group's fate), took them to the bathhouse, locked the doors, and lit it on fire (but not with pigeons). The pigeons come in later, when she sieged the city of her husband's killers. She told them the siege would end if each household gave her 6 birds from their home. She took the birds, tied burning bundles to them, and freed them. The birds went back to their homes, landed in the thatch roofing, and gone was the city.

34:00 is the Russian Woodpecker, an antenna array used as a radar to see over the horizon. Built during the cold war to detect ICBMs. It's called the Russian Woodpecker because of the woodpecker sound it makes, which can be heard around the world because it's in the shortwave bands and interferes with broadcast and amateur radio transmissions. Cool to see it in minecraft, but the build does not fully show the sheer size of the actual thing lol

Those “Electrical Lines” are actually the Duga Radar System. It was a Soviet over-the-horizon radar (OTH) system used as part of the Soviet missile defense early-warning radar network. The system operated from July 1976 to December 1989. Two operational Duga radars were deployed, one near Chernobyl and Chernihiv in the Ukrainian SSR (present-day Ukraine), the other in eastern Siberia.

@@thatguyintherain3168 Most likely budget, plus they might not have seen any use for that. The Soviet Union mainly funded projects that could make them compete with the US's military power, that's why the Buran was created, in fear of the military capacity of such a craft. Of course, the US never had any military plans for those projects and when the Soviet Union saw that, they stopped looking to space as much. At least that's what I think, I haven't looked that much into it, but seeing the reason for the Buran's death makes me think that it was something along those lines.

The notion that anyone really won the space race is absurd imo, since every country benefited from the technological developments. But if I had to look at the space race as win or lose senario I'd like to break it up into two parts: the soviets won the "space race" by getting the first man to space, and the US won the "moon race" by getting the first man to the moon.

@@plushthefox I don't know much about before that, but I do know that the Soviet Union also went bankrupt trying to keep up with the US during Reagan's "Star Wars" project. That was kind of the beginning of the end for the Soviet Union. But that's pretty interesting. I didn't know about the whole Buran thing. And it honestly doesn't surprise me that Russia was ahead in the space race, but they just couldn't keep it up financially more than likely.

1:47 Although I'm glad my country and its history get appreciated here, I have to call out some major bullshit: First of all, Russia was in a great economic state in the 15 century and tradition for the Knyaz to pick his wife from the women presented to him is far older than 15 century, dating all the way back to the Ancient Rus. Also, although it's a minor mistake, I have to point out that technically Russian rulers were not officially called Tzars until the reign of Ivan the Terrible, which began in 1547 Secondly, there are two separate stories mixed here. Olga first burned the ambssadors alive in sauna, than besieged Iskorosten - the capital of the rebels who sent her the ambassadors - and, according to the legend, burned the city to the ground using pigeons with burning cloth tied to their legs 25:40 And this is just ridiculous! I mean, sure, government benefited and still benefits from alcholol production, but to think that it has the gole to keep people perpetually drunk is just plain wrong. I now really wish to know what video that dude watched wich led him to believe this crap

The video is How Vodka ruined Russia by Kraut. It’s actually inspired by a book by Iain Gately called Drink: A cultural history of Alcohol

Fun fact, me and my brother named our dog after Laika, she’s so sweet and adorable. She isn’t the same breed but we did it in honour of her. When we went to the space centre we took pictures of the information about her just so we could show her when we came home. It’s silly but still cute. ❤️❤️

Have you seen the flesh? It feeds us. It feeds us and we feed it and it feeds us in turn. We eat of the flesh of us, and we consume it. When we are sick, it cares for us, for sickness to us is not sickness to it. The grand Karcist will be back shortly.

I mean Sweden had the appropriate scp-3008 so there must be some SCP fans amongst the builders.
