I'm probably buying on of these this weekend. Unhappy with theirore rugged soft sided coolers. To narrow. I wanted pockets for keys and trinkets. I have a standard Igloo playmate hard sided cooler I use for a daily lunch bucket. Think I'm to a soft sided cooler. My biggest thing I was looking for was something wide enough to hold a large water jug and wide enough to hold a typical sized take out container from a restaurant . That's why I like the bigger playmate cooler. I think this will work in 28 can size for me.

What is the optimal amount of ice to put in for maximum coldness without taking up too much space? Please do a follow up video so we can see how it’s working for you!

Hi Cam,I would use ice packs for these. It does not have a waterproof zipper so if it happens to tip/topple over you could have ice melt in your vehicle. Also ice packs take up less room. RTIC sells them online at rticcoolers.com and in different sizes for your different coldness needs.

Do you think this is too large for a daily lunch box for a 12 hour shift? I wish I could find a side by side comparison of the 28 can vs 15 can to see which would be the better option.

Im gonna say No. especially if you carry a larger water bottle, like a takeya, kleen canteen, etc... 40oz or little bigger. Gives you plenty of room without having all you tasty food smashed up. Personally I wouldn’t want one any smaller. Thanks for asking and for watching.

Cheapest place to pick these up is through their FB page. I think this one is $28 right now plus shipping. I want the one size smaller but I don't think there's enough pocket space for what I need. This one looks badass though.

Just bought this cooler to take to on our upcoming trip to Yellowstone. We're going to keep our drinks in a YETI hard cooler, but bought this to take our lunch items such as deli meat, cheese, e.t.c to the picnic sites. With two medium RTIC ice blocks, would it keep food and condiments chilled all day? Also, does the side pockets hold a 36 oz Nalgene or rambler bottle?

It should with 2 medium packs keep for a bigger part of the day. The side pockets hold my 32oz nalgenes just fine. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps

How has this held up? Really just need a soft for a day, tailgate etc. Can't make myself spend the 299 for the Yeti Flip 18

It’s holding up great so far. I plan on buying another one for a buddy of mine. I’ve had a couple guys from work buy them and they love them as well especially for the $$.

why post if you're not going to talk about how well it keeps something cold?
@figsoutside1981

@Dave Krause Because some people just want a soft sided lunch/day bag. Because some people want to actually see what the size actually looks like and not by what it says the size is on the web site.

How do you like this cooler? Would you consider it too big for a 12 hr shift for someone who does full meal prep

I really like this cooler. I would say it’s probably perfect. I use it for straight 8’s and have also done many 16’s with it. I highly recommend it. Thanks for asking and for watching. If you do get one, use it for a bit and let me know what you think.

I don't know if anyone is still reading these but I just got one from the RTIC website and all the ice melted pretty quick and the water leaked through the bottom. Is this normal or is it defective? Thank you.

@Eduardo Cavazos I’m not sure. I didn’t have any issues like that with mine.

Directly from the RTIC website on the features for this cooler. "All-day cold with RTIC Ice Packs. Not designed to be used with ice."

@@thatdamnsamsquanch Yeah, I emailed them. Got a refund already. Pretty ridiculous to sell a cooler that can't handle ice. Guess they're scared to but they should advertise this as a "lunch bag".

What size of rtic ice packs would u recommend for the 28 to keep it cold?
@figsoutside1981
@figsoutside1981 4 жыл бұрын
2 of the smalls would lay side by side and totally flat in the bottom. I haven’t used them personally though. If I were to use them I would use a couple of mediums. I usually use the bigger gel soft packs and usually get several hours of coldness.

I have 2 RTIC hard coolers but looking for a jet ski cooler, I hear people Bitch because to clean it’s a PITA and there is no insert. Meanwhile a cheaper OZARK or COLEMAN has a thin plastic insert. I’d drink a dirty beer anyway but hey food is food

Yeah, mine is finally starting to wear thin about 2” on the top back edge of the lid where the insert is. By now the other brands I’ve used are trashed. I’m definitely going to be getting another when this one goes. Thanks for watching.
