They took a steel pistol target, glued a pillow to it, and screwed what appears to be maybe a cheap Amazon bungee sling to the bottom. I mean, I'm glad it worked-ish. But between pretty crappy customer service, and a general distrust in their quality control, I'd say that's a hard pass. But good video none the less!

M193 is better at penetrating steel than M855. Velocity is primarily what defeats steel. The penetrator core in M855 is a very soft mild steel, designed to not break up as much as lead when hitting light cover like foliage or wood. That’s why it’s called LAP not AP

@@chaimafaghet7343 Idk man, I can slip my vest on in seconds...and I'd like to have my hands free to actually be able to manipulate my weapon and lights properly. If I have time to prep, i'm grabbing my 4" AR, not a pistol I could see it possibly being useful in that situation for some people..not me though..also a ballistic shield isn't going to always be over your vital points so that's a huge factor as well..usually ballistic shields are used in conjunction with body armor.

@@DillonWaffles So when you get in a gun fight you would rather take them full on then have a shield in front of you? Your arms are going to be the first to take hits as they will be in front of your carrier. Carriers are nice but when bullets fly I would rather be safe behind a shield. Real gun fights are not like John whick where he kills 80 and takes one hit to the chest and his vest stops it. Chances are you will take hits and it will be in your arms. Now if they do get hit, manipulating your gun will be quite difficult. A poly shield is where its at. I have both and the poly is setup far better and weights far less. Stops rifle rounds as well. That added to your kit is where its at.
@DillonWaffles
@DillonWaffles 2 жыл бұрын
@@thisissparta8884 good luck effectively manipulating a rifle and a shield in the combat situation you just described without getting pinned down though. I prefer the ability to shoot and scoot before I’m pinned down then shot because I thought my shield will save me. Exactly, it’s not John wick, and a ballistic shield isn’t going to be your saving grace, especially if you have no one behind you providing covering fire so you can move up together. Which is how ballistic shields are most effectively used.. Without support you’re a cumbersome, slow, target with poor weapon manipulation and lack the ability to return fire as accurately and effectively than if you had both hands free and a rifle. It’s just too niche to be an effective piece of gear unless you’re storming buildings with a team supporting you, it’s not really that useful for a singular person or small family around the house. You’d be much more combat effective returning fire than trying to hide behind the shield. I still thinks it’s pretty cool and has its place, but I think that place is in a squad role in which you are provided cover so you and another small team can close the gap between the threat. Just my 2 cents.

That was pretty cool seeing those two .45 bullets bouncing back. Wouldn't want anything that size gettin past my armor no matter how slow its goin. If it got to ya and was still parallel to the ground it's gonna hurt. I'm curious to see how much different .45acp and that bigger(cased) "45 magnum" type round rate against each other. What do they call it anyway? Was it .45 super?

Why didn't they put a curve to the surface? Even the smallest curve would help and make it stronger, as well as more ergonomical. It's a neat idea that I might get behind if they'd take it a bit more seriously. The spall coating is silly, the shape doesn't make much sense. It's literally just a sized up target with a handle.

It would be cool to see somebody make one with a convex shape that can safely deflect bullets or absorb the energy without them splattering off the edge of the shield and hitting the holder or their team mates. There's gotta be at least a few companies that are working on something like that. Or maybe they've tried it and abandoned it already. Still seems like it could be workable with the right enginerding done to the edges of it.

Sorry, but these ballistic shields give their owners/bearers a false sense of security. If I was in a gun fight with someone carrying a shield, I would automatically aim for the legs. The average individual’s bottom half usually is longer than the top half making it a better target choice anyways.
