Tbh this low tier card is quite useless in gaming, you can as well just use higher tier 10 or 20 series cards that cost less and probably push more frames.

@@mirei_ you are only looking shortterm. in the longterm, these graphic cards will be in the used market for cheap when profits crash. where gamers who didnt feed the scalpers will be able to get them. do your research. miners arent the enemy nor are they the reason we have no graphic cards available in the market. there are many factors in SUPPLY and the demand. manufacturing, distributing, retailing, mining, scalping all are affecting it. BUT, at least mining helps in the longterm once supplies are met. and the fact that this can only hash at 50mh on ONE x16 pcie slot, miners arent gonna be interested still until its unlocked fully. BUT this helps gamers who get these to help get some of their money back by mining with it.

In all honesty... THEY ARE BLOWING SMOKE UP OUR ASSES... Why do you think Nvidia and AMD are have no real planned releases or shipment dates of anything but a select few cards now? Remember when you could get RX 580s or 1660tis, or knew they'd be in 3 weeks? Think. I'm not going to tell what they're doing with them but it should be obvious.... Sincerely someone who lives in Austin where Nvidia is located and "neighbors" work at...

here's a bit more information about this from a guy who messed with headless vms for years, managing servers with gpu devices: this "hack" has pretty much existed for years in the vm sector. this is not in fact a hack but intended functionality to allow virtio pcie passthrough functionality to work. without installing the developer driver and using a headless display adapter, you are unable to get output inside of a headless environment when connected to vnc and using framebuffer direct-copy thanks to the section of firmware responsible for blocking it (you will receive error 43). this same section of firmware is the slice the code detecting mining was added to. this developer backdoor is intended to be used by sysops, software developers, and datacenter professionals needing direct hw device access for virtualization.... this isn't a mistake. its a developer backdoor intended for us, that puts the card into a special virtualization mode jumping out that entire section of code so that virtualization passthrough functions correctly. guess you guys found it ... i guess its going to be abused by miners now. life just got harder at the datacenter. :/ i will inform you that as far as i know, this developer backdoor has existed since the gtx1080. the only place where it had use, was virtio pcie passthrough to avoid error 43 and nvenc problems for virtual machines, but i guess its valuable to miners now. if you happen to be virtualizing a graphics card in software such as qemu, you might discover better gaming performance as well, in a windows vm. thanks to none of the integrity protection code running in firmware. the good news is, if nvidia does patch this, every virtualized gpu vm in the world that receives their new driver will break, so they won't. have fun with this dirty little hardware nerd secret.

Hey Red Panda - random quick question... I've asked a few other miners, but nobody replies to this question. How come we don't see more of gpu's running with fans aimed upwards since hot air rises? I built a nice rig custom rig rack with fans aiming up and seems to be pretty stealth. Am I missing something? I would think to see more of this, no? Thanks in advance, for your expertise!

Hot air rising is nothing when a fan is used. Steve from gamers nexus has talked about this. I think most recently in their Xbox and Playstation videos.

If you could can you test to see if the hashrate falls if you manually set the pcie gen to 1 or 2 in bios? This would like every the reason for the hashrate nerf in the driver. If you could get a standard riser (vertical gpu riser) and a board that offers the min gen spec you could get multiple 3060s to work

What about hooking it up to your MSI B360-F with the Molex extra power on a PCE slot maybe the extra power will help instead on that ITX MB Also....When installing new Nvidia Drivers you should always "Uninstall" (Check box option under advanced installation) the old drivers first regards, rick

Cool video as always man! Maybe try a 16x to 16x riser cable adapter. If the mainboard has more that 1 full-sized 16x, some even have 5, you could still create a decent rig with these cards, but not sure if this would work and I don't have any 16x to 16x risers cables myself to try. I have seen the flexible cable types like this before so they definitely exist. Give it a shot if you have any. ;)

Hey guys quick Q. I started mining on nicehash to test the water and see it all is. I have an alienware 3060 and my MH rate fluctuates between 38-41 mh. Should my MH rate be at 50? I've been making like 3-$5/24h

Manage to get a 3060, have been mining for the last 20 hours with around 48 to 50 Mh. It only works with Pcie 16x slot. I think it needs a bios modification to run it on other pcie slots. Software understands the bandwidth limit which is abvious for a gamer not to plug that card in a much slower slot. Anyways i think nvidia achieved their goal some how like selling 1 gpu to 1 household :D

We can mine on more than 1 card with full ETH speed !!! I have 2x 3060 in my computer connected to PCI-E x16 3.0 (both) and hdmi dummy plug. Both cards mine 49 MH/s !!!

I'm tossing up whether to buy a 30 series card for mining. I know NVidia has nerfed the 3060 model (as shown). Is NVidia planning on doing the same with the 3070, 3080 and 3090 cards? Also, I run my mining on Linux. Will there be driver compatibility issues if I use a 30 series card with a 20 series card?

I took my old MSI Z87 GD65, which has 3 PCIE x16 slots. According to the manual, they are splitted in to two x8 slots, when two GPU's plugged in. So i plugged in two RTX 3060's, both connected to the same monitor, one via HDMI, the other via DP. And it works. I can get both of them to over 50 mh/s sustainably :D

From what I thought, you can get display out of a card in a riser and it seems like the dummy plug triggers the card into trying to push display out. If you can see your gpu in device manager there has to be a way to utilize it to force a display out by either duplicating windows or opening another program on it to trigger the display out turn on.

those btc boards technically run on x1 even though they have x16 slots, at least as far as I know. x8 slots with a x8 to x16 riser work, and so do x16 to x16 risers

Hey Panda, you forgot to add that the 3060s strictly works only on PCIE 3.0 slot. It doesn't work on PCIE 2.0 and 4.0

Did you try adding a 2nd card with 3060 like a 3070? Read comments that it can be only 1 card, wondering if its only 1 3060 or 1 card in total in the system. Also would it be an issue if adding a let's say 6800 in 2nd slot. (I managed to work a 3070 with 6800xt in 1 system before)

Test the 3060 plugged into the pcie x16, with several other gpus on risers. Also test 2x3060's (if you have them) on pcie x16+x8 with several other gpus on risers. Thx!

for the amount of video cards with 6600 is it good because I want to upgrade my rig, but for 6600 I'm worried that it's 128bit and only for my modest knowledge I know I have to shake 256 bit cards, but they are at least twice as expensive

If you need to elevate the card use a 4.0 pcie-16x riser cable not the 1x adapter card... I would like to see if my theory is correct.

Hi, I got a 3060 and a 1660s in my rig, but no matter how I install driver on both I only got 1 driver showing on my MSI afterburner, so now I am using 470.05. but when the mining restarted I only got 41mh/s on the 3060 and I have to press the save button to get 48.5mh/s. But the 1660s is great having 31mh/s all the time

Have 4 RTX 3060 and With the monitor plugged in, i am seeing less hashrate (21.80MH/s) - getting 38.89MH/s without the monitor on the other GPUs.... was even getting 43M/s few days back.... using Octopus... still monitoring it. cheers!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just got a 3060 and I'm trying to do my first setup. is there anyway I would be able to get these drivers to work on hiveos or is the card only going to give me 25 mh/s? Basically would I be able to update the drivers on windows, swap the OS's out and run the rig on hiveos or will it give me the standard hashrate and force me to switch to windows?

Threadripper, PCIe x16 riser like you would vertical mount a GPU in your regular computer in each full size slot on the mobo and see if each get 50 MH/s.

Can you test if it will work in x8 PCIe connection? High end gaming motherboards with 2 x8 PCIe connections are quite easy to get and it would be great to have 2 running in a gaming PC. I can confirm from my own testing that not even x4 will work so that rules out cheap motherboards.

The same day the drivers leaked, bought 2 3060 and been mining with them since with full hashrate, got third one too, but it's only 26 HM/s on eth because of the limitations. Can use it to mine some more profitable alt though and trade it to eth or anything, so all good there. Lucky I got the cards because later the same day stores pumped up the prices higher and after a few days all cards were sold out anyway.

Technically it's still broke. Unless your rig has has a motherboard with 20 PCIe x16 slots, you are stuck with running the card at the throttled rate. NOT FIXED! Thoughts?

I've got some ideas for testing. Does it still work on x16 slot but in x8 mode? For example Ryzen 2200g apu has only 8 lanes available for pcie devices (+4 lanes m.2). Another question, will it work in x16 slot but half populated, making it de facto x8 slot?

Could use a "16X Riser Card PCI-E PCI-Express Extension Cable Cord" to connect the 3060 to the MB and save the space. worth a try on a multiple GPU mining MB to see how it goes (with & w/o the HDMI dummy plug; if the slot position of the 3060 on the mining MB will affect hashrate)

hi, i have an asus tuf notebook with rtx 3060, i installed 470.05 with clean mode, but hashrate is 27 / 28m / hs. i did cleanup with DDU, but nothing. i bought a dummy hdmi connected but nothing changes, do i need to do some procedure?

I don't think this works anymore. I've tried it with the same exact zotac 3060 and it doesn't work with my card for some reason.

I have a message for everyone about the RTX 3060, only models with three fans are susceptible to unlocking, now test whether they will work on one motherboard at a time ;)

Do you need to download the specific driver or can you just use the dummy HDMI plug?

Your next video should be about motherboards and pcie lanes how two 16x lanes get split into 8x is there any that give 16x at 2 Lane at the same time. Will sli work what are the options to get 2 3060 to work in one rig at full hash rate. Is it the slot that limits the card or the speed of the slot you definitely need to do a follow up video I need more information thanks.

I also agree there should be no reason why it wouldn't work since each pin on the riser goes to each pin on the motherboard slot. Just a theory.

@@MrTeeseeone Check out the SerpantXSF livestream, it looks like the 3060 needs to be in the first x16 slot. Can we mine @50 Mh/s with 2 or more cards? Still waiting for that info👍

I read in a German magazine that this 50 MH/s only works with one RTX 3060. As soon as you have more than one, it no longer works. Have you also been able to determine this?

It works with 2 but they need to be running on a x16 slot with at least x8 speed each and monitor to be plugged in

Thats no mistake,nvidia loves miners,you would too if you sold gpu's,they just want the gamers that aren't willing to cough up the cash during a card shortage to quit crying about it.

I've got a Tuf Gaming GTX 3060 12gb - I have downloaded the developers drive and overclocked on Afterburner but still getting 26 MH/s. Is anyone else running into the same issue?? or knows how to sort it??

I'm guessing not as it needs actual electrical 16x connection. Riser less boards are just motherboard with risers built in essentially so only x1 in actual connection.
