I fixed my overheating issues with a new thermal paste. I used arctic mx-4 and now the cpu runs about 70 degrees and the fan rpm went from the max which is 5300 rpm to 4000 rpm. Huge difference. The original paste was bad, it was quite dry. my 4060 g5 gigabyte is solid and the screen is really nice, not a retina, but neither washed out. It shows a decent image.

@@thanos967 Works great. Btw, I have recently repasted it with Metal Liquid grizzly and the temperature never went over 80.

@@thanos967 It works amazing. I have repasted since with metal liquid conductonaut extreme. It is very easy. basically you give the GPU and CPU a coat of polish nail liquid if it has exposed components, on mine the GPU had. Then I warmed up the liquid metal a bit to flow better and applied on both gpu and cpu. I also dropped some on the motherboard, but I cleaned it with alcohol - accidents happen so you don't have to shock yourself, it is not solder, it cleans easily, just you need to know where you dropped it. Anyhow, with the Metal Liquid, I don't see temperatures over 80 degrees. The laptop is mostly silent as a lamb and even when gaming, the fan speeds don't go crazy. Please note that I have the frames locked on Nvidia to 60 max. If I have to unlimited, the fans work harder, but again, it doesn't thermal throat as before, as the GPU is not getting hot (above 80) at all. The CPU is the one that gets hot, or better said, was getting hot.

Sir, in the following video, you review the MSI Katana B13VFK laptop, it uses i7 13620H and the important thing is how many watts can be tdp when dynamic boost is turned on on the rtx4060 card.

I believe you are wrong on the mux switch aspect. I think there is an option to enable dGPU only in the BIOS of the G5 KE (last year). It would make sense that the same is true for this year. Can someone clarify this? Thx

I just ordered a g5 kf with i7 12650h, 16 ram, rtx 4060, and i have this doubt..., i saw some reviews telling that you cant plug an external monitor via HDMI and have above 60hz, This laptop uses the integrated graphics when you use an external monitor?, if so how can i use the dedicated one to have the best perfomance while having an external monitor plugged to it?

Hey bro, I just got the variant with RTX 3060. I wonder if it's normal to keep the power button pressed to turn on. Acording to my experience, It's just a small tap on the button to turn on laptops. But with this, I have to keep it pressed for 1 or 2 seconds which is weird. Is it the same thing with your model? Thank you!

I’m probably gonna buy this laptop due to having it an RTX 40 series, and also I think I would not able to reach a 100 degrees on the cpu since I don’t really play too much graphic demand games. Lastly if I were to play CP2077 and etc, I would only set it to High Preset. Would it still heat up to 100 degrees?

Look around in the bios. Are there any settings in there to revert bios? Contact gigabyte support and ask them for help

It should perform better with another 8 GB ram stick, right? Since you’d have more memory and also dual channel which is known to be faster than single channel.

Yeah for sure, this is a pretty standard money saving technique for the manufacturer on these budget gaming laptops, they're leaving a lot of performance on the table by only having single channel ram. It will be running at half the rated speed for the ram since it's one stick!

I just returned this laptop because I was getting a paltry 6400 in time spy after feeling like game performance wasnt good enough. Seeing your unit has me really questioning things. I was looking at buying a more expensive Asus instead, but maybe I just got a lemon and should try again. with a new one. I like the IO, numpad, and price on the gigabyte a lot more.

hello guys please help me just got this laptop and having alot of problems getting maxium 40w on the gpu wich is abismal playng anything framerates goes from 60 to 300 in cs go cant even play anything ive done everthing roll uodates ,bios update fb03 new version , reinstall drivers ,went into msi afterburner tageted 125% to get as much power as it wanted nothing works can amyone helps me this is not what i expected from gigabyte very poor with everthing

I bought this laptop last week, it arrived yesterday and i had insane amounts of issues with it... The fans are going crazy 5000rpm, the CPU is at 90-95 degrees celsius at 40% usage in game same for GPU. Did anyone face similiar issues?

I advise you to undervolt cpu and use wuick cpu 2.3-4ghz. but a video card with a temperature of 95 degrees ... only if the stand

@@enqichong7044 depends on what do you want and your budget. In my case, i had a small budget and for 829€ is Perfect for me. I am playing right now diablo IV at 140 fps and looks great for the price of the laptop, one of the thing is that when you play Mamés A LOT of noise but nothing that a good headphones cant stop 😂 (i have a Razer kaira and a Shure AONIC 50). I was about yo buy the ASUS rog ally (800€) for 29€ more i have something better.

the real advantage of this setup is you can run it with Geforce Now and get 60fps 4k or 1440 120fps for only 200 extra per year plus internet

Keyboard malfunctions out of box. I uninstalled the drivers. It was fixed. Then it happened again. Uninstalled again, but this time the problem isn't going away. Headphones not working.

@@GizmoSlipTech I bought it a week ago and I think it is really nice, especially the build materials. It has a bit weak cooling system though, but I've bought a quad fan cooling pad and I've upgraded the thermal paste to thermal grizzly conductonaut liquid metal.. The cpu is now 10C degrees cooler. I kindly ask, wether you could try to figure out how to undervolt this laptop.. I've tried with Throttlestop and Intel XTU but with no luck. Could really use your professional help here, because if I can find a way to undervolt it, this laptop is really worth every buck!!!! Thank you in advance!!!!

@@still.the.1 Hi. I think you can edit power plan and disable processor performance boost mode during gaming, it shouldn't affect your FPS too much. look it up.

4070 is below what 30ti was at launch - wowo what a generosity from Nvidia side. Giving the fact that 4070 is on par when it comes to power and only thing that differentiate those cards is FG. That would be irrelevant once FSR3 will be out.

I believe 1080p need tostay back in 2021. Its so much better with 1440p 1600p is sooo sweet for eyes. Is 4080M will beat 3080Desktop?

4080 laptop and 3080 desktop are very similar. But the 4080 laptop gpu has 2gb more vram and frame generation. So the 4080 laptop gpu is overall better

@Thrace I have no idea, over the last few weeks my laptop started dropping to 20fps on games that usually run at well over 100. And also the thing got so hot it started burning the charger that came with it. And when i bought a new one and plugged it in, it just started smoking (i dont think it was gonna explode but it wouldve probably damaged the internals since the first charger melted a bit, and the second one was burnt to a crisp with about 2 minutes of use.) I had it on a cooling pad and everything so im not sure what happened Tldr: laptop was lagging for a few weeks, laptop was overheating and shutting off randomly even with a cooling pad, and it burnt the chargers i had for it to a crisp

Just wish companies would stop with these bad screens. Every budget gaming laptop in 2023 deserves a 100% sRGB screen, 144hz, decent brightness and response times. Other than the GPU/CPU, the screen is the feature you really don't want to cheap out on considering you're looking at it 99% of the time using the laptop even when not gaming....

I agree with you, but also I think with inflation companies are trying to keep the prices down in general, so cutting costs like display costs is one of the biggest ways of doing that, so I can understand their reasoning too

Hey man, that is to make price lower. Wanna better screen then there are options to buy. Say thanks it isn't 60hz 1333x720 TN display. It is quiet descent. It only limits you in professional graphics uses. And BTW may be it is just uncalibrated, and applying good calibration it may achieve close to 100% sRGB.

I watch your videos on a regular basis Love the way you test these laptops ❤ So far from the reviews I have seen I think that the 3070 ti 150w has similar or better rasterised performance than both the 4060/4070 Now I know your thinking to compare it against the RTX 4080 but they cost atleast 2500$ for a full powered 4080 where as the full powered 3070 ti's were around 2000$ and now they are around 1500$ and if you compare the previous generations You see the following trend (if not running out of Vram) Gtx 1070 = Rtx 2060 Rtx 2070 = Rtx 3060 Similarly the Rtx 4060 should have been at least equal to the 3070 But sadly it isn't Now why is this happening If You look at the specs of the 4060/70 you can see that they are cut down in every possible way Cuda cores , Rt cores etc I mean seriously the RTX 3060 has the same amount of cuda cores as the 4070 , the only thing good I could say about the rtx 4000 series is power efficiency , So to top it all off the rtx 4000 series has terrible value to performance Nvidia is just trying to generate sales on the desktop market by providing Extremely Overpriced GPU's & heavily relying on DLSS 3.0 to save them in the Laptop market and if that wasn't embarrassing enough someone actually found out a way to enable DLSS 3.0 on Cyberpunk 2077 an RTX 2070 Search it on KZfaq , without it with Raytracing on Ultra he was getting 35 to 40 fps and with it enabled he got around 80 fps So similarly they are just using DLSS 3 as another strategy to fool people and generate overpriced sales which for the most part isn't working as they might have though However I Didn't find any tutorial to enable Dlss 3.0 on KZfaq for the rtx 3000 series , but my point is if that guy was getting such an insane boost on an rtx 2070 then there is no reason why The RTX 3000 series should not have it , specially since in newer games Raytracing is getting a lot of Systems CPU limited In which case DLSS 3 shines the best so If you want to help people look out of the shell Then you should look for a way to enable DLSS 3.0 on the 3000 series specially since a lot of guys like me are Cpu bottelnecked with Raytracing on , in games Like Spiderman, Hogwarts Legacy etc It would be helpful for A lot of people man , much Appriciated 🤝🏻

Also, i disagree about the 407 vs 3070 Ti comparison. The 3070 was a much better deal. not even counting the 3070 Ti, it also wasn't the 2nd best gpu of the last gen, it was 3rd, still worse than a 3080 non Ti, which was still available after the Ti refresh. You're comparing the fresh to the base 4070. I also heavily disagree comparing a 4060 to a 3050 Ti. At launch the 3060 G5 was about $1100 as well. Nvidia is basically just cutting down the die size and bus size to give us about last gen performance using less cores to achieve the same level, and then throwing frame gen on top. Which would be fine if it didn't add latency, but it's nearly no upgrade in fast paced fps games. I feel really good about my 4080 pro 7i I bought for $2160. But historically, I've been a 70 series guy on my laptops. It just wasn't worth it this gen to stay in that tier. Nvidia cut it down to much. I understand the concept of segmentation, but the 4070 and 4060 sometimes legitimately lose to their 3060 and 3070 counterparts and that should not be normalized. the 128 bit bus I think has a lot to do with that.

I think the design principle is different. People complain about too much noise and heat. The low/mid range of this gen is more about lowing temperature, noise and high power efficiency than raw performance. it actually makes the laptops behaves like laptops. They do have 4080 and 4090 for the performance. After owning both 3000 and 4000 desktop cards, my 4000 card runs almost in silence. The last thing I want to buy is 140w 3070 laptop to match 105w 4070 laptop. Most of time 4070 doesn't even hit 105w.

The score is low in time spy. My laptop lenovo legion 5 pro i5 12500h+rtx 3060 140w in general score 9267 , cpu score 11503 and gpu score 8960.

You have a good laptop since it is a full power RTX 3060 140W that is in a much larger laptop. This one weights only 4.2 lbs and is only 75W, so a more apples to apples comparison is the Zephyrus G14 that I compared this one with near the end. The RTX 4060 will perform better at 140W for sure, probably over 10K pretty easily I would imagine. Looking forward to testing the MSI Pulse 15 with RTX 4060 at 140W.

Man, your 3060 has double the tdp and around 800 more cuda cores... My 105 w 3060 gets around 8200 in graphics, so yeah 4060 is a nice gpu. Especialy cause of FG

This one could've been a good medium tier (or even high depending on how demanding gamer you are) gaming laptop if not the piss poor CPU cooling, having temp 85+ at all times just terrible. I don't understand why i5 12500H is so damn hot here. RTX 4060 mobile is pretty good tho, frame generation is really a big deal and very future proof.

At this price point, the Strix G15 Advantage Edition is way better. CPU performance is similar, GPU performance is way better (11500-12000 Timespy). Better Screen at 1440p 165hz with good colors and brightness, Excellent battery because its on the AMD platform + its 90Wh. The only appealing thing from this laptop is the DLSS 3 Perks

@2:14:15 Yeh i agree with you tuning this sucker and showing a before and after in a video. Standalone as is its completely useless at the 1100 price range. Terrible Cpu temps (also much worse performance than a stock 11800H), insufficient power adaptor, non existent Ram capacity making even 1080p demanding gaming like Hogwarts a no-go (also DDR 4 needs dual channel fiercely). Add the 8gb stick, solve the power adaptor issue (may just need a larger brick), repaste, and also consider a Gpu Undervolt+Overclock to see how these low watt 40 cards perform with tuning.

@@TheMaxedSkills Very soon (as early as this month) laptops with rdna 3 based 7600mXT are coming out. They should beat 4060 and maybe rival 3070ti/4070. We have seen Jarrod review recently the Asus Tuf with a power limited version of it called the 7600s i believe, and it already beats a full power 3060 while using less than 100w (also it was only using a refreshed zen 3+ chip in the 7735, not an actual Zen 4). It should be priced competitive with the 4060 as well. Also if you want all Amd, Dragon Range (and maybe Phoenix) Zen 4 processors should also be rolling out later in the month. Those crush Intel in terms of power efficiency, and even win on performance. Pricing should be no more than Intel, and maybe a bit less. It will all depend on availability and models. There should be some solid ~1k to ~1.3k options for mainstream in the coming weeks, I wouldn't bite right now unless one wants to settle on a good 3070ti deal or something.

Pros Good price 40 series for dlss 3.0 Decent cpu 12c 16t 1080p 144hz Cons Thermal throttle 8gb Vram only ( what a Shame Nvidia ) No undervolting High cpu temp Heat Heat Heat P.S even with liquid metal, it will only drop 5 degrees. The only way to reduce cpu temp is by undervolting but the cpu is locked so no chance. New thermal paste will do nothing but void your warranty.
