Do you use dlss frame génération? And also, does the max fps cap frame generation? For say if you were at 50 fps with a max cap of 60 but dlss gives you 100, would you see the 100 fps?

I was also not a big fan of DLSS, but if you run it with DLSS and DLAA as setting, it even more tweaks the performance of it without the blurriness in the cockpit.

Hi, having a absolute nightmare over the last 2 weeks with ctd’s and freezes of msfs2020 at the menu stage and within pdmg 737-800. Restored the complete pc and reloaded msfs2020 a number of times. I have a NVIDIA rtx4090 as well…what device driver are you using?

Hello, upgraded my PC to RTX 4090 and adjusted the settings to my Benq 32 inch, 60 Hz monitor with all add-ons running and no frame generation on (monitor only 60 hz), limiting the FPS to 58. The game very smoothly with good FPS at EGLL, KJFK and KLAX, weather raining at night. I need advise on 4K monitors for frame generation, as the bottle is my monitor.

I think I will give these settings a try, The only things different in my setup is that my monitor is the Alienware A3423DWF (1440 ultrawide) and CPU is the 7800x3d

for some reason i dont have options like DLSS or DirectX version in my settings. the game literally runs at 30 fps on my rtx 4090 even on the lowest settings.

Interesting points made here... i'm just waiting on a 58GB mandatory update! (It's been a while) . so i got a 144htz 34" ultawide (that i use for gaming) and a 60htz 32" 4k (that i use for studio apps).... if i too discover that 60fps is optimal for this sim then maybe the 4k monitor may also be? Another thing to consider.

It seems like video settings for MSFS are critical no matter how powerful your system or video card.

Do you recommand setting Anisotropic filtering to 16 in sim? I see most tutorials prefer setting that to 16 in nvidia control settings. And than in sim to off. Thnx.

I see your are using FG with your RTX4090. As I'm sure you are aware, FG is now useable on 20 and 30 series Nvidia cards as well. I have an RTX3080Ti and I'm very impressed with the extra performance when running FG. One thing that bothers me though is the ghosting/flickering I am seeing in certain situations especially when panning in the external view. I am wondering if this is because I am using a 30 series video card. So, the question is, do you see the any ghosting/flickering?

Hey Luke, thanks for your video, I already watched a couple of weeks ago. Back than I didn't had a 4090. No I do and I copied your settings over. However I changed a couple of things which works quiet good. Maybe you can try these settings also. First I changed the Anisotropic Filtering in the SIM to off and in the NVCP to 16x. I see a big improvement with that. Secondly I Also manual tweaked the "UserCfg.opt" file which you can find in the standard folder C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt). In that file I changed the value under the "Graphics" options {shadows} from max 2048 to 4096. The shadows are very crisp now. Just try it and you will see the difference. 🙂

Vsync off in sim AND in nvdia panel ?

TAA + DLSS 3 is the best setting for performance and looks, overall. DLAA + DLSS 3 can cause artifacts in some instances.

For the most part, MSFS is Cpu bound not really GPU bound. Once you start running 3rd party airports you use more vram. Rastor not an issue vram and core clocks are. I have a 5800X3D with a 6950XT with a mix of ultra and high and get really good performance. One thing I have noticed is that DX12 while works on Nvidia seems to bring a bigger driver overhead. To check your performance I'd recommend having some kind of OSD running.

My specs is a Alienware Aurora R15: - 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9 13900KF - 64 GB DDR5, 5200 MHz, XMP - 1 TB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD (startup) og 1 TB SATA 6 Gbps med 7200 o/min (storage) - NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090, 24 GB GDDR6X - 1350 W PSU Monitor: - Odyssey Neo G9, gsync- compatible ( I have it set to 120hz, can go up to 240hz but optimal setting as stated in manuals is 120hz with native 5.120 x 1.440). I bought my pc and monitor in January and since then tried to found the best settings for MSFS. In the beginning I saw tearing when I moved the camera.. but for some reason everything has changed now after the latest Nvidia drivers 531.68. So now I have smooth and no tearing while in MSFS. Only 2 things that I have changed in Nvida CP: - Power management mode: highest available - Vertical sync: ON In MSFS i have everything in ULTRA, and also have TAA and frame generation ON. Vsync is of course OFF, but the frame rate limit is on 50% (not 100% as you). The interesting thing is that now the FPS goes to max 116-117 fps and never over. I see you have a gsync compatible monitor, so should you use the advantage with it. In november Nvidia came out with drivers 526.98 that introduced DLSS Frame Generation support for VSync when G-SYNC is enabled. And to have gsync enable you have to put vertical sync ON in Nvidia CP. I have a 4090 card, but my cpu is i7 9700K overclocked to 4.9MHz - I think I should back off something, but what. Some have said reduce LOD and I see two LODs. One is "Terrain LOD" and the other "Objects LOD" - so should I reduce one or both of those. Any comments would be welcomed.

I use the RTX 4080 and have pretty much the same settings. Even with the 4080, the CPU Main Tread continues to be the main frame rate limit most of time (and I have an i9 13900). Limiting the FPS to 60 provides a very smooth experience and unloads the CPU. Even with the 4080, the GPU is often loafing (I use TAA as well). For someone that does not do high end VR, even the 4080 works great for MSFS. Even with a 3090, if you have an older CPU, money might be better spent upgrading the CPU. The single thread programming is really the limit to the game.

Idk I gave the same System as you (Same CPU, RAM and GPU, MSFS on an SSD) and still only get 30FPS in Cruise with the FBW A320. I have no idea where the problem lies :D

You gotta get a 7800X3D/7950X3D. With the setup you have, you really are holding back. With 7800X3D, you will unleash way more performance. You got everything else already, drop that to finish. You will be doing 60+ fps at any airport WITHOUT frame generation.

if you're using top shelf gpu as 4090 and need to adjust it's control panel options not the game options - the game is badly optimized

interesting, I have a 4090 and a 12700k and im only getting like, 15-20 fps with these settings. Probably a limitation of my CPU more-so than the GPU

Those are basically default settings. I disagree with locking in at 60 FPS when I'm getting 100 to 150+ FPS with a 4K 144Hz monitor. Just my two cents.

Guys, friendly recommendation, no need to spend your liver over 4090, I am rocking it in excellent performance on ultra wide 2k monitor with i7 10700k with rtx 4070 , rtx on, 32gb 3600mhz ram. Important thing, make sure you turn on XMP profile for your RAM in bios. Thank me later 😊

Its good have nice hardware :-) British AVgeek, I have About same settings here but turned off Lens flare in MSFS and another system with Intel I9 13900KS @ 5,7GHz all cores boost only 6.1GHZ but games almost never use boost and MSI 4090 supreme watercoled 2825/10500MHz with 3 monitor @1440 and DDR5 2x32Gbyte Gskill 6400MHz, 2x2TB, 1TB PCIe4 NVMe custom water cooling system with direct die on cpu, 1600W PSU, I tested run OBS studio cant see any hit on performance in msfs its amazing have 60-65 FPS in MSFS :-)

I prefer DLSS and DLAA over TAA. It actually increased my performance at 4K with more stunning visuals and smoothness. I tried TAA with the 4090, and it actually decreased my performance.

Nvidia settings are too small to read.
