In this video I'm going to show you why you should rub a lemon on your glass stove top.
Glass stove tops gets dirty really easy with oil, grease, water rings and burnt on food. Using soft scrubs to clean it can be quite expensive so allow me to introduce to you a cheap chemical free, all natural way to clean your stove top.
Dip half a lemon in baking soda and rub the entire surface with the lemon. Be sure to squeeze a little juice out while you're at it. After you have rubbed the entire cooktop with your lemon allow it to sit and well for 15 minutes. This will loosen up and of the stuck on food and well are lift away any oil and grease.
After the 15 minutes is over use a microfiber cloth to wipe off the stovetop and you will be left with a clean fresh surface!!

I just use a tiny bit of Dawn and a damp microfiber cloth. The Dawn cuts the grease and the microfiber does the rest. No scratches and completely clean. Just rinse out the cloth and go over to remove any soap residue. Cheap and cheerful!

A much simpler, less messy way is to use Bar Keepers Friend powder. Simply fold a dishcloth several times into a thick pad, dampen with tap water, sprinkle a generous amount of the powder on to the soiled area, then rub in a circular motion with the pad...you'll find that stains remove with ease. The idea is to create a thickish paste, not a watery consistency. In any case, keep the pad safely to hand as you can reuse it several times after a single application of powder, simply wetting it slightly before use the next time, but also adding a touch more powder occasionally. After cleaning the cooker top, I simply spray any general purpose cleaner over the area, then wipe dry with paper kitchen towel, finishing off with a light spraying of ordinary glass cleaner, followed by a quick polish using a microfibre cloth. The end result is perfection, and it can all be done in 90 seconds.

These glass stove tops are a pain in my "burner" lol I have one and its only less than 2yrs old. The front right burner looks like its 90 yrs old. Pans took part of the surface off. It looks terrible. I agree gas stoves are better and in my opinion cooks food better.

How is that possible? We had one back in the 70’s and never had an issue and had one in the 90’s and as along as you only use real pans and don’t turn it up too high and leave it on for hours I don’t see how a pan would burn to the top. I have never heard of such a thing.

When I got my glass/ceramic cooktop twenty two years ago in 1991 it came with a scraper that has a replaceable blade. I’ve used that and Jif or Gumption cream cleaners and don’t have any problems! I really like how easy it is to use and adds bench space when I need it.

I just rub some Dawn detergent using my fingers when the top is cool. Once I’ve done my dishes, I wipe the ceramic top with a damp sponge after, if there is caked on particles, I use the scrubbing side of the sponge to remove those, flip the sponge and wipe it all down, then dry it with a microfibre cloth. You can use a Ceramic Top Cream Cleanser on occasion but that’s rare if you keep it clean daily.

We just bought one of these stoves for the first time a few months ago after a lifetime of electric coil burner stoves. Sure they look nice but it’s the stupidest idea that appliance designers have ever come up with! Pain to clean and have to wait for a cool down before cleaning and try to stir a pot or use a lifter in a frying pan and the pan/pot slides all over the place. Our old warped steel pots jiggled all over the burner when using and we had to go out and buy new pots, they never bounced around like the devil had processed them on the coil burners. I think my wife wishes we had brought our stove with is instead of leaving it behind for the new home owner when we moved.

Takes like 5 mins of actual effort. How long it soaks for just depends on if anything has burned into the stove. I don't really spend any extra money cos I have dish soap for my dishes anyway.

a lemon a day cost lest than a stove top cleaner?

I'm not sure this is a cheaper method of cleaning the stove top. Lemons were $0.99/ea at a Canadian grocery store this week. @ $0.45/cleaning event it might be more expensive than those soft surface cleaners. But it looks like it works well and is environmentally friendly at least.

Isn't the baking soda more of an abrasive than any paper towel? Once metal pots scratch the glass I don't think there is any going back other than replacing the glass. However a random orbital car polisher with some compound might improve the scratches.

I have a question. Is lemon juice acid or alkaline? If it is acid, and baking soda is alkaline, it would be neutralized chemically. Same with vinegar with baking soda. I am curious what is the reason it works.

Lemon juice is an acid. Yes baking soda is alkaline. In theory you would think they would cancel each our other but in practice they work for this particular job.

White vinegar is cheaper than lemons. I maintain my glass cooktop, but it’s not ideal.
