Funny how the regular guy Ethan turned out to be potentially the strongest character in RE universe. He basically had the durability and regeneration abilities of a bioweapon while having his mind intact unlike Wesker or Krauser. With little to no training, he could single handedly beat the monsters Chris couldn't with a private army.

I like how when Ethan says he's freezing. He didn't remark on the fact he now has 4 fingers on his left hand again.

This is actually one of the better plot twists The RE teams have come up with. Everyone joked about Ethan's ability to take a punch since RE7 since he started as a normal civilian and now we can see why. The RE team took the endurance of the previous games we all knew and used it as a Narrative Gameplay mechanic. We're so used to Chris, Jill, Leon and Claire taking a hit and healing with Spray or herbs because we've gotten used to the moments of ridiculousness in the RE plots. So they actually subverted our expectations rather brilliantly by using our past knowledge of previous games. It also explains part of Ethan's near obsession with his Daughter and the neglect he shows to himself when Mia confronts him about it in some of his memories. This honestly makes Ethan one of the most developed characters in the RE franchise and one of the most sympathetic to come.

This explains why Jack kept saying "she's given us a gift" he wasn't speaking on behalf of his family but ethan aswell

That conversation with the real Jack Baker from RE7 sheds more light about Ethan's capacity to have a consciousness.

So Ethan is basically a walking BOW but with a complete consiousness and a personality

I like to think that Ethan essentially being a perfect Molded who retained conciseness and Mia was infected with it but was fully cured, that when they had Rose it ‘balanced’ her and that’s why she’s the way she’s the perfect B.O.W.

So they pulled a lowkey Asura's Wrath: A Dad motivated to free his daughter even after being beaten up and killed they still kept going.

No wonder why the Dimitrescu daughters were so obsessed with him cause FLIES LIKES TO DEVOUR DEAD BEINGS!!!

He was a strong mold character. Just like Jack Baker, he was just never pushed to a mutation form. And Miranda managed to tear out his heart so that basically put him on his last leg so to speak.

And in just one fell swoop, Ethan Winters has now joined Arthur Morgan, Solid Snake, The Boss, John Marston and Cloud Strife as one of my favorite video game characters of all time. Well done, Capcom.

I get why it had to be Evelyn since she's connected to the mold But it would've been cooler if it were Jack Baker telling him he died but that he has to get back to the living to save his family.

I think zoe baker had something to do with Ethan being a mold. I mean in the begining of re7 after jack killed ethan, we briefly saw zoe patching him up and on top of that she was quite knowledgeable about the mold.

You know what would be fucked up? After Ethan died, imagine if duke came back to the village only to collect Ethans remains like "Perfect Crystal Ethan Winters" and was he was in fact the most expensive item in the game. That would explain why duke had always been there for Ethan for the entire game.

Amazing revelation. I really thought Ethan was done, but this just connects to RE7 like a puzzle. All the crap that Ethan went through - - to die "twice" to save his child, is amazing. I did not expect this level of story-telling from RE.

Basically these new age Resident Evil (7/8/9) would provide the insight into the philosphical question about whether all the infected and clinically dead peoples we've been fighting against all this time could retain their free will or not. And whether or not bioweapon is alive.

Very important moment at 12:35. Ethan begins muttering about family then suddenly yells out "No! Rose!" and snaps out of it. Given the delivery _(maybe the original japanese is different but I don't think so, this seems too deliberate with the voice direction)_ it's almost certain that *Eveline was attempting to control Ethan's mind at that moment.* The people Eveline controlled _(the Bakers)_ were obsessed with family, and it's pretty weird for someone to say _"family... NO! I have to save my family member!"_ UNLESS the first instance of "family" was some twisted, hollow version like what Eveline was interested in. The hallucination he's seeing is also almost certainly the real Eveline, preserved thanks to the mold's doing. _(the Bakers might well no longer be preserved, but Eveline, having a direct line of contact with Mother Miranda, would be preserved within her romanian mold hive)_ This is also all especially interesting, given that RE8's concept art for Rosemary Winters states that they wanted her colour scheme to carry a tinge of Eveline's influence, and in the cutscene she gets offended at being jokingly called Eveline- So, if Eveline still lives on within the mold, that kind of carries additional meaning. _(as a side theory: the short first person flashes Ethan sees of rose's perspective as a toddler, combined with how Rose treats her dead dad in the cutscene as if she knew him IMO indicates that RE7/8 are actually being percieved/relived by Rosemary, thanks to her connection to the mold, hence the first person perspective)_
