The fact that Dortmund forced Akanji out, claiming he's not good enough for them will never not be funny... But the way, Pep is making players better is unbelievably crazy. Just look at the evolution of Stones. The way he played in midfield is something I'd never have guessed. Same obviously goes for Akanji as right back and Diaz in general.

I wouldn't say he's better than dias. He's certainly on the same level or maybe even higher than akanji.

@@jimsu-whls-1686 It all depends if you're talking only at club level or at selection one aswell. For example, Akandji had been heroic at the euro 2021 but on this treble city season, Dias has been even more solid while Akandji has been litteraly as near perfect as a defender can be. He's not the most flashy and you won't see many camera focus because he very rarely commits fouls ( wich is of course one of the signs of a superior defender ) but I encourage you to watch at least 2 games focusing a lot on him and you will see that he almost never misses a pass, show signs of febrility and he's so often way ahead of the attackers' mind that he intercepts the ball perfectly.

@@julian-eu3xh I just said ake is in my opinion better than akanji. Defensively akanji is a bit better but when we look at contributing to the attack ake is much better than akanji. I know akanji could be great at attacking but pep clearly doesn't want him to join the attack because john stones on his side of the defensive line is always making runs forward. But imo ake is more important to city but I still think akanji is really underrated and world class
