What Separates Dias & VVD is their Playstyle & Both are effective at it. VVD needs another Centre-back who would Tackle for him when he couldn't & then with Physicality he gets the Ball , VVD doesn't go for the Player but waits for an Opportunity to get Ball & in the Meantime defence gets back & Liverpool gets the Possession Back , Marip is an Ideal Centre-back for him . Dias on the other Hand is different , His Positioning is Based on how others are on the Pitch & he Makes a Picture of Opponents Attacks in his Mind & you can often see him Advising teammates to be here & there . Dias likes to Tackle as well & his Tackles are Precised too. For a speedy Player , getting Past against both of them is hard because Dias's Movement is too strong , he makes runs on Balls weight while VVD's an Elephant . His Physicality is a big Plus for him & his Positioning is very good too. Dias imo is more of a Tactical CB & we'll see him on Top Like Ramos untill Pep is there . Dias is more of a pure tackler and as a defender myself I can say this is the first advantage he has over vvd and the second one is that he is more agile yet very strong. Also he is extremely young. His first season was as good as any of vvd seasons in liverpool and if that doesn’t prove that he’s a a good as vvd or better now then he will definitely reach a higher level than vvd later. He definitely has a higher ceiling than vvd

Don't forget that Van Djik had 3 defensive midfields that cover him. Personnally Dias will surpass him and none knew about Virgil when he was 23

Virgil Van Dijk is injured, not fair to compare this year, but if you compare all the years, Van Dijk is a monster you can't compare him to Dias.

Dias is a good defender but still not on the same level as vandijk. Any defender playing alongside vandijk will be able to show their best football because of vandijk's overall quality can translate a massive amounts of positive influence, not just the regular back four but also throughout the team. He is oozing out the best in any team. Vandijk seems to make football look Easy and Simple due to his world class Art of Defending. He had done it and proved it against the best in the world in all competitions ie: Premier League, UEFA Champion League and also international football with Dutch national team. It's hard to see Dias reaching the same level as vandijk if he plays the way he did during Euro 2020 group stage with so many individuals mistakes. For example the game against Germany when he made so many poor judgement during the entire 90min and clumsy fouls too whenever he was defending and marking a player in One on One situation. Playing together with an experience Pepe in the Portuguese team, both of them look vulnerable every time opponents running behind their defense. It happened in all of their group games(vs Hungary, France, Germany). That sums it up for this comparison.

Tough one, as a City fan I have a biased preference to Dias. He is more aggressive in defence which I like, while Virgil is calm which is a super quality in stress situation. Dias gives encouragement to the team during play which makes me think he brings the best around others, while Virgil is a solo contributor. I think defence is not only about you but also others around you. So Dias is more complete as an individual and a team player. I wish both play side by side one day 😀
