Rubio Monocoat Sheen Plus on Ebonized Ash

I take you through the steps of applying Rubio Monocoat SheenPlus over Intense Black Pre Color and Black Oil 2C on Ash Furniture. This blackens the wood similar to a traditional ebonizing solution process and is very easy to apply. I show the comparison between the original 2c oil sheen vs Rubio Universal Maintenance Oil and the new Sheen Plus Oil. Surprising results and definitely produces a Rubio hardwax oil with a satin sheen vs the matte finish that's typically the result. Very impressed with the latest Rubio product.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience! Tomorrow, I'm applying Sheen Plus to a maple butcher block top I treated with "charcoal" tint Oil Plus 2C. I was hoping for a true satin sheen from Sheen Plus, but really didn't know what to expect... I wasn't very impressed with the sheen improvement from the universal maintenance oil I tried on a previous project. Sheen Plus looks like exactly what I was hoping for. I'm definitely going to enjoy the job tomorrow, instead of worrying about the final result!

Rubio states you can dilute with up to 30% water. They claim it provides a more even stain as it slows down the initial drying time. Have you ever applied Rubio this way? Thanks for sharing.

is this product supposed to feel "dry" after application much like oil plus 2c? Im supposed to be applying this tomorrow and just did a sample piece but the piece still feels wet, not sure if it's supposed to feel dry in 24 hours or right after you finish applying. thanks

Good video thanks for sharing. Have you tried using Indian ink as the blackening agent followed by an Oslo or something similar? Had good success with it and certainly a lot less expensive than the Rubio.

Good day)! About Pure-Color Easy Intense Black. It can be diluted with distilled water, and at the same time the intensity of coloring will practically not change! And the price will be 2 times lower)...
