The equivalent of going to Taco Bell while in Mexico...California has some of the best taco places in the world Ken! Even 2 seconds of Googling "tacos Anaheim" brings up 10 better places than a Rubio's.

From Cali and Rubios is a very solid fish taco... one of the best chains to have them. Taco tuesday is a good deal and flour over corn. Plus all the hit up the trucks. Yes those are good as well but can be hit and miss. Rubios fish tacos is always good

Ken, those beans are a traditional side dish. They're called "refried", although they aren't fried. I don't suppose there's anything wrong with putting them on a taco, but they are generally eaten as-is.

Rubios is only in California, Arizona, and Las Vegas. Lots of Rubios has closed. Definitely go to authentic Mexican restaurants. Little mom and pops places are the best

It's refried beans with a little cheese in it you could use it as a dip or you can apply it to your tacos great either way😊

You got the two things I consistently order. Also, seasonally they also have a Langostino taco, which is really good, too. By the way, I dip my chips into the refried beans. Super yum!

Years ago, my favorite was a place called Casa Grande galliano's😅 I'm sure I pronounced that wrong, but nowadays, my favorite spot is a place called El Burro Loco😊

Rubios is pretty good for $8.99 you get two fish tacos and beans and chips with salsa bar to make your own little nachos, you can’t complain with prices through the roof nowadays for food.

Taco trucks in southern California is the way to go but if you want to hit a chain fish taco. Wahoos is the way to go. It started in Costa Mesa. Blackened fish tacos with their special green sauce.

I prefer the corn taco shells with the traditional ground beef lettuce cheese tomato taco when it comes to chicken steak and when I could eat shrimp I would prefer the flour tortilla😊

The bean dip should be consumed on a tortilla chip with a bit of the salsa. You can eat it by itself or maybe mixed with the rice. I like to order one of the dishes that comes with the rice and beans on the side of the plate (instead of being in the enchilada/burrito). Then I douse them in the salsa, mix it up and eat it with the tortilla chips.

Hi Ken. I lived in San Diego for 31 years. I found out that any of the 24 hour taco stands usually were the best. If it looks run down and sketchy, then it usually was awesome. We used to say if the name ended in -erto (like Roberto’s, Rigoberto’s, etc) that they were the best.

not sure why folks are knocking on rubios. it has the most variety of seafood tacos and salsas. i love their mango salsa. and the quality is pretty consistent wherever u go.

They look good, but next time in Southern California, take a day or two to travel down to San Diego for some awesome fish taco places. Even food carts. You'd love the city over LA anyway. Much more laid back!

So rubios is great for a quick fish taco. Of course there are better Mexican style street tacos but that’s different. Each spot has its own style for tacos. I’m Mexican and I can tell you that each spot has its pros and cons. I love going to Taco Bell for a quick fast food taco. But I wouldn’t say it’s authentic Mexican. Definitely try different spots for different style tacos

Drove me absolutely crazy that they didn’t give you fresh lime wedges 😢! Whenever I’ve been in a Rubio’s. They’ve had a HUGE bowl of lime wedges and a salsa bar in the dining room.

I am not a fan of floppy corn tortillas. I'm sure they are more traditional than flour or hardshell, but I'd prefer a fish taco in a white corn hardshell or flour tortilla. The best fish tacos I ever had were in Laguna Hills, California when I went there almost a decade ago for a video game convention. I could have ate a dozen of them but only got 3-4.

I love Mexican food!! Definitely corn soft tortillas are the best!! It's the OG way to eat a taco!! If you ever go to New York you have to go to Los tacos nr.1, on the Chelsea Market!! They have really good tacos!!

As someone that grew up in California from Ventura to Bay area, I work for CalFire and the current governor refused to let us do our preventative fire work,. So glad I left it. I miss the beauty, but not the politics.
