It's clear they wanted to build the tension instead, it works better cinematically, but narratively its better he wasn't threatening at first to build his character. You can quickly switch the mood in a LN or manga from one panel to the next or one sentence to the next, but you can't do that in animation, so they probably opted for the more tense theatrical approach.

i feel like it was explained as a straight up multiplier so if hed used it wouldnt the stone cannon have had more damage? like does that staff give him the ability to cast stronger spells or is it just mana cost

@@Von_Hohenheim Pretty sure it just lets him preform the spell with a smaller mana cost. Does half the work for him, so what he'd normally use to create a basic stone canon would instead create something a lot stronger.

@@Von_Hohenheim al his spells increase in power while not increasing the mana cost. So if he wants the same result he will need less mana.

Its a 5x multiplier while using the staff. Either it costs 5 times less mana or he can cast a 5 times larger spell, however it's affinity is water magic, so the strength of the rock bullets would t be buffed to the same extent.

@@Von_Hohenheim It doesn't make him cast stronger spells, just more of em. Take the stone cannon for example, he incriesead it's speed and hardness to the fullest, the staff would just lower the cost of mana.

@@Ozone946 Massive Spoiler: Orsted is stuck in a time loop where he has been living the past 200 years over and over, and the only way out is to kill the Man-God. That's the reason he knows everyone in this world, since he literally have all the time in the world to know each one of them and how they lived their lives. Now the reason why the ending credits is not in Orsted perspective, is because of Rudy and Nanahoshi's existence. Both Rudy and Nanahoshi are from another world, and this timeline is the first timeline they existed in this world. The mana calamity is the consequences of Nanahoshi getting transported into this world. That means, in previous timelines, the mana calamity did not happen. Rujierd would have not met Eris. Sylphy would have not met Ariel and Luke. Roxy would have not met Paul's party. Paul would have not created the Fittoan search party etc. In conclusion, the ending credit does not exist in Orsted's memories, and it is not taken from his perspective. The credit is probably a symbolism on how Rudeus see himself as an outsider living a dream life, and his fear of suddenly waking up and finding himself back on his old life where no one cares about him.

@Celeritas that wasn't the first time he did it too. Anime also cut out when he used it vs paul and the 2 ladies. Its not as strong as the beast tribe but it is enough that paul was distracted . This time, it failed because his lungs were full of blood, but orsted was a lot more cautious than the one-sided fight would show.

Good to know because how the main story ends is just not that good. Mean with that final extra chapter that explains why the teleport happened and then nothing. And yes I’m aware of Buddhism’s view of a good death, I just don’t like it personally.

There's only 2 more episodes left plus the OVA next year. If you plan to read the LN, I'd recommend reading from Vol 1, also if you're getting the physical Light Novels, good luck finding them.

*SPOILERS* Wrong. The mana disaster didn't occur before, on any of the original timelines. So ruijerd and Eris probably (still not exact) didn't meet on the other times, at least on this journey, but Orsted met them both at different points in time.

Alas, they don't even show it in the anime. A bone of contention i noticed in MAL among anime-onlys during the quarrel between Rudeus and Paul was that their own perception of time was warped thinking that the traverse between one end of the Demon Continent to another & then traveling through the Great Forest only took a few months. Without a map to guide them, it only enforced their judgment otherwise and side with Paul. My only guess as to why they omitted showing a map in the anime is to encourage using the map shown in the light novel, and thus increase sales. That to me tho is a faint yet bad aftertaste after all that's said and done.
