Having read the LN I know how this is going to play out… but that’s not where I’m going with this. Another reactor I watched has said probably the most relevant thing possible on this episode: “I’m going to reserve judgment until we hear what Sylphie has to say about this.” And in the end it’s all that matters. In that world, unless you’re a member of the Millis Church, polygamy is considered 100% acceptable, and none of Rudy, Sylphie, nor Roxy are members. So the only thing that matters is the promise Rudy made to Sylphie, that she would be his only partner. Obviously he broke that, so the only thing that matters now is Sylphie’s response to the broken promise - which is why that opinion I stated above is so on point.

I completely agree. The LN does add context to make the situation more understandable, but in no way as a justification of cheating from our lens. Key difference between understanding and justification. Rudy is a flawed character with emotional baggage, and he will make mistakes. That is what makes the story feel genuine when exploring these nuanced topics instead of having a squeaky clean protagonist that does no wrong. Our values and morality in the real world differ greatly with how the characters in Mushoku Tensei view these topics. There is a lot of complexities surrounding his reincarnation, on how the world works, and what the characters find acceptable that is in no way applicable to our societal standards. So it's best to not use this show as a reflection of your own true values and just enjoy it for what it is

I agree on everything other than last parts, i think mushoku truly shines with its character writting, every character is flawed character, there's no good person, but still they trying their best to live a life they don't regret, 99% of the fans thinks rudy is like thorfin a piece of sh*t trying to be better person, but that's not MT story is about, story is about regrets and 2nd chance, rudy literally said in this episode "I'd rather be a scumbag than regretting afterward" this is a 2nd chance for rudy lifeand he is trying to be happy, not trying to be a hero or a good person. And finally about My girl eris, She literally training to defeat a literal god but meanwhile rudy having fun with these ladies, all I'm gonna say is, out of all the people in that world eris loves rudy the most, only thing she cares about is rudy unlike other girls, Nxt episode we'll see the true best girl.... In Mushoku Tensei we just need to accept and understand what is happening, the good the bad and everything in between, there will be ups and downs, it depict someone's life after all, of course we are allowed to agree and/or disagree on certain things based on our opinion, and it's okay, but the most important thing is we need to understand why it happened that way in the context of the show it self.

In my opinion, although Rudeus cheated, Roxy was the one who instigated the action. Though, some context was missing in the anime as opposed to the light novel: - *It has been nearly a week since he last ate *. Although he was drinking water, there was no doubt that Rudeus could likely die. They were in the deserts of the Begaritt continent, and trying to force him to make that journey in that somber state will get him killed. - Rudeus had been through a lot, now losing his dad and with Zenith in a vegetative state, and the idea of him wanting to end himself is not out the window, though there is still a chance he could have found resolution in returning to Sylphy. - After Roxy learned of his marriage, she was frustrated but more so knows her position. The others were saying that Rudeus will come around and recover, but Roxy was the only one who didn't nod. Going back to the point above, Rudeus doesn't mentally recover quickly, and she has the feeling he will perish. So, it's either watch him maybe die or make a scummy move. Do note that Elinalize was quite manipulative leading to this sequence of events. Let me know if I have missed anything. Note that I don't think it erases the crime, but at least it reasonably justifies the actions that were taken. Ultimately, they are from a different world with a more open culture, but the difficulty lies with Sylphy. Though she may not be a follower of Millis, she should have been notified of this prior, but again Rudeus may have perished before she could send a reply. They all know that Sylphy could have solved the depression problem, but where the difficulty stems from is getting Rudeus to Sylphy in time. Not gonna say much, but I leave the end decision in Sylphy's hands.

He’s started from a really dark place as a very flawed and even gross character, but watching his growth and development is something I certainly am emotionally invested in. So it doesn’t suck when he makes mistakes, but it’s equally satisfying when he makes good decisions. What makes him relatable, is that despite him being in a new world that’s do different from ours with many different rules and morals and ways of life. Rudy comes from OUR world, and as flawed as he is, there’s a lot of good morals from our world that he shares and has brought into this new world. What’s important is that he’s trying, and because HE cares so much, it makes me care a lot too. I should also say that it may be easier to be MORE invested if you read the far more detailed light novel, although I believe I was already pretty invested before I started reading a couple episodes into season 2.

Yeah i think people sometimes are too defensive about rudeus we need to understand rudeus mistakes not justify them rudeus himself does not justify them. Rudeus making mistakes is a point of his character. That was makes him rudeus he is this guy that isn't perfect that makes flaws, but from start of the first episode his goal has been to want a satisifiying life. So he tries to make it work out that his ideal that is his dream he is not dreaming to be the perfect guy but he is dreaming to get a life where he can be happy where he can feel like he at least tried to get a life as happy as possible. I feel like when you say rudeus did nothign wrong when the story acknowledges rudeus makes mistakes its flat out a point in the story then you are kind of missing the point rifujin isn't there to tell you to absolve rudeus of cheating his situation to understand it. You can understand some of his actions you can understand how rudeus became this way. That is what i think about when i see rudeus. Some people thats defending but thats not really defending defending saying something is rihgt you looking at something from a outside perspective or understanding the act is not the same thing as defending. The problem is that people who are judging you probably have way more information on what's going on and observe way more details in the episode than someone going in blind and on a first watch. You have your assumptions going in based on what's happened in the past in the show, and you know that this isn't Konosuba where someone always interrupts when things get spicy. MT goes all the way to the end and deals with the aftermath.

The reason why it would be considered rape if someone is drugged is because the drug takes agency from you and put you in a state where you can't give consent to the sexual act. Rudeus was in that state, no matter if there were drugs involved or not, he couldn't give consent, he was depressed AND starving, his brain wasn't working properly to decide if he should have sex or not. Rudy cheated, no doubt. Even if Sylphie didn't ask for it he promised her he'd be faithful to her. Roxy slept with Rudy knowing he was married. But Rudy wasn't eating and didn't respond to anyone, he was actually going to join Paul if Roxy didn't do what she did. So the whole situation was already a mess. That's not even factoring in the fact they do love each other.

I’m an LN reader, but Norn is one of my favorite characters. Her episode from a few weeks ago had me crying uncontrollably when I read that chapter in the LN for the first time. I’ve even reread it a couple times and I keep getting emotional and teary eyed. Suffice to say I’m very invested and care a lot about the characters in this story. I find it a bit bizarre that you care more about Lilia and Aisha than Rudy or even Norn. You sound like you’re basically saying you’re averse to heavily flawed characters in this show which prevents you from investing in them, but I think you don’t realize how messed up Lilia and Aisha are too. I do love both of them, but Aisha is an arrogant bully who looks down on people and has a sexual obsession with her brother and you can thank Lilia for teaching her and instilling that she had to grow up to become Rudy’s maid and be prepared to be his concubine. Lilia doesn’t allow Lilia to be a normal girl and puts her down as less than because she is the product of her mistake. Lilia knowingly seduced a married man too of course.

Well i don't see the cheating not because i try to defend Rudeus, or of the fear of what him cheating would tell of me. Nope. To me, to cheat on someone, you have to have a will to do so. I really can't see someone who was S. Assaulted as a cheater for that. And to me that is really the point: Rudeus was NOT in a state to consent to anything (and certainly not an intercourse with his goddess). In real life there are a lot of people who have multiple partners (movie stars, rich people, powerful politicians, etc.) but people never complain or realize it.

I am watching this video twice so i really have no life lol… but me personally i think this episode was pretty bad and its mainly because of the first few minutes but not because of the controversy around the characters within Mushoku Tensei. But with the decision to not just cut out crucial things from within the LN, but to pull a disney and change different things within the show to make Rudy look more innocent and instead push some of that controversy onto Roxy for some reason… idk why the show did this cuz after having that confusing opening and shifting that into the rest of the episode, it made the show feel more like a generic haram anime, which it isn’t supposed to be… of course you dont have to but if you have no life like me id recommend you watch at the very least a skipped content video to get more of an understanding of the emotional weight that this episode was supposed to have… for example it was supposed to be more like s2 ep3 of mushoku tensei… but instead it was sad for a brief moment then turned into whatever we got after… me personally i just really dont like this episode
