I am the proud owner of a 1984 Washburn Slammer Rudy Sarzo prototype bass. It looks almost exactly like this one. It is a beautiful instrument and can produce a wide variety of tones like Rudy just demonstrated. By the way, I dig the Jaco-inspired harmonics! Check,out my videos to see mine in action (not quite as impressive as Rudy, however)!

I can definitley hear the Weather Report in this. I think I read somewhere that one of Rudy's biggest influences was Jaco so it makes sense.

super easy to talk shit and criticize a video that by todays standards is ancient. on a crap bass with super crap audio recording gear for live audio going to video, i mean my iPhone records better sound quality.. I am a guitar tech and i toured recently as a tech on a Queensryche tour and became friends with Rudy etc etc. Rudy is an insanely good bass player and super nice guy. I guess my point would be grow up and stop acting like a music critic online and sit back and think about context and not all things someone puts out online are going to be good, especially given when this was released..... i mean shit have you heard or seen some of the randy Rhoads stuff online? sounds horrible but thats how it goes. Anyway, QUIET RIOT, OZZY, BLUE OYSTER CULT, WHITESNAKE, YNGWIE, QUEENSRYCHE..... AND DIO!!! You must be right though, he's just a a guy in spandex with an attitude. Serious grow up and act like an adult. you stay in your bedroom and keep plugging along and leave your ''expert'' opinion to yourself.

@craigdamage8 жыл бұрын
+nickDOTbloc yikes. You hit that nail on the head. Most un-Geezer bass tone ever.
@Headbanger90007 жыл бұрын
Yeahh tell that to Steve Harris or pretty much any metal bass player. Most Metal bass is scooped mids for a punchier sound. If you want all mid, listen to Jaco, you want all bass, listen to Geezer, you want treble and clank, listen to Steve Harris, want distortion, listen to Cliff Burton. Simple as that. Different tones for different styles. I mean, if Rudy's tone sounds like "shit" here than I guess Chris Squire's tone sucks too since he played with more treble and mid and actually scooped the bass which bass players rarely do. Justin Chancellor from Tool scoops his mids out completely and he has bad ass tone. Fieldy plays with virtually no mid but has great tone for slap and funk style. Im a bass player for 13 yrs
@craigdamage7 жыл бұрын
You typed a whole paragraph...and yet failed to explain why this sounds like utter shit.

I'm sorry. I had said this guy's timing is "not quite there". I saw this video again and noticed the timing is way off. I gave him way too much credit in my previous post by calling him " average". In actual fact, this guy is just plain bad.

+Joe Provolone Right. That's why you're watching his vids. Where's your lesson videos? Where's your adoring fans? Where's your anything besides a bullshit KZfaq comment?

Actually you are sounding like an adoring fan. :) Personally, I don't give a fuck about Sarzo, he can ride whoever's coat tails he wants to. Anyone who knows anything about playing bass can see he sucks at it. Ask him yourself and I'm sure he'll go into very intricate details about his suckassness on Bass:)
@douggreen6398 жыл бұрын
Keep telling yourself that. You will still be nothing in comparison. All the while, he will still have many more fans and many more dollars than you will ever have. Your opinion will forever be meaningless.

Living proof that luck is the main ingredient to make it in RocknRoll
@joeprovolone57498 жыл бұрын
yah, this guy is pretty much a very average bass player. The timing is not quite there, he is using elementary slapping techniques, simple scales. I think putting this guy in the virtuoso category is a monumental over-rating. I remember doing his little upside-down thingie on metal health when I was starting out. It looked really cool and took me a while 12 minutes to master. anyway... All show. No content. If ppl think this guy is an outstanding bass player, they don't know Bass. I mean seriously, check out Stuart Morrow. No one knows him and he puts Rudy Sarzo in his back pocket. :)
@murrayyarrum10156 жыл бұрын
Rudy is a chump who wouldn't know good bass tone if it slapped him in the face. A lazy, arrogant pick player of the lowest caliber who believes he's taking Jaco to the masses because he plays Teen Town (with a pick) during his horrible solos with whatever is left of Blue Oyster Cult. He definitely snorted coke with the right bros and did all the metal stagecraft shit in the '80s, but he's been cashing in on this ever since.
@santanajackson61606 жыл бұрын
Quit hating ! What the fuck are you doing ? Nota damn thing but running that trap
@danielroos54265 жыл бұрын
Agreed. This guy is over rated.
@InvisibleYetVisible5 жыл бұрын
He's not outstanding, but he's nowhere near bad either. Those ripping him know fuck all clearly. He's just one of the many musicians that neither fall into that "utterly awful", nor "absolutely awesome category". Kind of middle of the road but not such a bad place to be and you join the likes of Keith Richards and many others. Comes across a really nice guy though.
@user-ee6jm3wu4q3 жыл бұрын
@@murrayyarrum1015 Rudy rarely if ever uses a pick..LOL And even if he did that doesn't determine how good somebody is. Some great players use picks
