Bro I’m still coming here and every other great year just to remember how great things used to be. I appreciate Cal for what he has done but I’m thinking it’s run it course. If they come out next year like they have the last 2 he will be done in my opinion. I gave up on this season. They beat Tennessee again but they just play uninspired basketball. So again I’m not going to pull out the pitch fork just yet but man with all the talent coming in and will definitely have ppl back they better not suck.

@@jaycehoward2771looks like your words were prophetic. How does everyone feel about Pope?
@jaycehoward2771Ай бұрын
@@stevetackett581 honestly I feel really good and I know it's a but of a gamble if he can recruit or not. As a Kentucky fan I almost feel like we sold our soul when we hired Cal to win One title. We had no heart and the guys we got most of them didn't care about the name on the chest, they cared because Cal would do everything in his power to get them drafted. It may not work with Pope. But I know Pope will build rosters that doesn't start from scratch every year and it really did feel like we finally got our heart back our soul back. As I said I'm thankful for what Cal did for us but the jersey might as well said Calipari on the front because that's how it seemed eventually under Cal. Also the fact that Cal never made in game adjustments and never would call or draw up plays and never tried anything new on defense and had this throw it in and let them play which lost us so many games. Sorry about the book but I'm great with Pope because he brings back what me didn't have with Cal which is tradition and heart. He is one of our own and he knows the good and the bad and the ugly with this program and having a coach that will actually coach them and with the offense he runs if he can recruit which with the money they have Kentucc c z c xky will be OK. So in short lol I love the hire.

Genius Q no doubt. I’m a Kentucky fan and hated him for taking the Louisville job. But he might be the best defensive mind the college game has ever seen. In hindsight however, this Kentucky wasn’t as talented as we thought in the moment. Davis was the only star. MKG has been able to stick in the league as a role player. Miller and jones have been in and out. But the other guys are all playing overseas. There have been dozens of teams more talented top to bottom since that haven’t sniffed a championship. Better job by Cal winning this one than many are willing to give credit for

This is coming from a Tennessee born and raised Vol fan that lives in Louisville, this UK team was one of the best teams i have ever seen, along with 1990 UNLV, 1992 Duke, 1995 UCLA, 1996 Kentucky, 1999 UConn, 2006-07 Florida. These guys lost to one team at the buzzer and another team they beat twice in the regular season, avenging one loss while the other team didn't make it, plus they remained #1 after both losses. UK fans better soak it in as long as they can, because word is, after Phil Jackson accepts the New York Knicks deal, John Calipari is his first choice.

Being a born and raised UK Wildcat fan, I'm a mortal enemy of Indian by birth. But I would also be remiss not to mention how great the 1975 and 1976 Indian Hoosiers teams were. They only lost 1 time in 2 seasons, and that was to Kentucky in the 1975 Regional Final with a trip to the Final 4 on the line. A loss that likely would not have happened had Indiana's all-american forward Scott May not have broken his arm and went down for the season. That same Indian team had hammered Kentucky earlier in the season at Assembly Hall in Bloomington. They came back in 1976, went unbeaten, and won the National Championship.

Coach Cal always does a great job. It’s just difficult in this modern age to get young players to play as a team. They want to be the star & say “me me me.” As a UK fan I’m getting tired of these new players every year using the school name for the NBA. It’s frustrating. This 2012 team actually had 3 returning starters from the previous year, one of them a senior. This 2012 team wanted to be a TEAM over individual stars, & they followed coach Cal. One of the Best all around teams in 50 years. The 2015 KY was the best team in history from the 1 to the 10 spot. Unfortunately shot clock violations didn’t count that post season.

Historically, John Calipari's best NCAA tournament region has been the South Region (Memphis made it to the championship before falling to Kansas in 2008, Kentucky winning the title in 2012). The South Region was also where Kentucky (coached by Tubby Smith), as a #2 seed came out of to win the 1998 title.

Can you imagine Anthony Davis staying all 4 years? He would’ve averaged a quadruple double every game
@nateman794 жыл бұрын
Roger Edgerton yeah cuz he was surrounded by shooters. he was a freshman And named player of the year and mvp of the tournament. he was a fifth leading score on the team cuz he was a big man that could pass, And he was a hell of a jump shooter considering he grew like 18 inches from age 16-18. I understand your point but he didn’t have to utilize all of his talent because he had four other superstars on the court with him
@nateman794 жыл бұрын
kyleelvis3577 I despise the one and done. It worked in 2012 because Anthony Davis was a once in a generation player and we had a senior with Darius Miller and Doron lamb and Terrance Jones back as sophomores... oh another once in a generation Kidd-Gilchrist. The one and done process will never work out that well again. The year we lost to Wisconsin in the final four while undefeated was a fluke and we could’ve very easily had 4 or 5 losses that year. That actually would’ve done some good because that team looked so stiff in the tournament I’m surprised they didn’t lose in the second round

Dude, their main player PLAYED against us earlier that year and we STILL WON. That UNC team had played together the ENTIRE year before during the 2011 season. UK actually beat them in the elite 8 that year as well. But in 2012 we had 3 new freshman starters playing in just their 7th game together and we beat them ANYWAYS. They hit their highest % from 3 of the entire year against us while we shot our second WORST % from 3 and we STILL WON. How on earth could they beat us when we were clicking...

UK will be loaded with talent next season, but their inexperience worries me. UL will have both talent and experience next season. They really gave this championship team a run for their money.

This Louisville defeat led to a great following championship year and maybe again this upcoming year.

We're probably coming out of the Midwest Region next year, if we're the overall #1 seed by 3/17/13 (would be the first time in 4 years, Duke accomplished that feat in 5 years - 2001 and 2006) The last team to come out of the Midwest Region to win the title was Kansas in '08. UNC, Duke & Kentucky came out of the South Region. UConn came out of the West Region (where they've been very successful).

In my opinion, that's a very dangerous asset because from how i saw it, that as well as defense made both MSU (2008-09) and WSU (2012-13) very tough to deal with.

Coach Cal owns Rick & Louisville. 10-2 right? 2-0 post season. & one of the regular season UL wins was stripped due to “Strippers / Hoppers” 😂🤦♂️😂.

Wildcat 8 rick struggled with this rivalry at UL. He has a losing record against tubby smith too. And I like tubby but pitino was a far superior coach. Yet he could only muster a 2-4 record against tubby during the series. Hell, he nearly lost to Gillispie in freedom hall with a team that was a 1 seed versus a UK team that went to the nit. If not for a miracle Edgar Sosa three. As a college basketball fan it pained me to see pitino’s career end the way it did. On the court he was one of the all time greats and maybe the best defensive mind the game has ever seen. But he’ll be remembered more for hookers, and the first vacated title in NCAA history.

How can you watch this on IPAD?

Duke being a 2 seed and losing to 15 seed Lehigh is so pathetic that no loss UNC has EVER suffered is even CLOSE to being as humiliating as Duke losing to them. I was at the Miami game. We were down 18 in the first half. It was Walls first game and he went coast to coast to hit the game winner at the buzzer. Any Calipari team usually struggles early in the year with all the youth. Granted we dont lose hardly any, but they are always closer than they should.

2020 anyone?

Exactly. Pitino took over a decade with UL to get a title, and now that they've been relevant for a couple of years they act as though they're the best program in history. Of course, they don't dare mention the fact that we stepped over them en route to our 8th just the year before. Oh well, little brothers will be little brothers I suppose.

You got the timing exact. Kentucky was #2 in the country until UNC fell to UNLV on the road. Briefly, they fell to #3 after IU's biggest moment, Ohio State lost @IU, and then Syracuse lost their first game @Notre Dame. Kentucky also proved one thing: it ain't always about offense, it's also about defense (holding your opponent in check)

Strange as it seems, but Louisville's run to the Final Four this season sort of mirrors Kentucky's run in 2011, in that they both were #4 seeds (UK in the East Region - 2011, UL in the West Region this past season), they didn't finish as the top team in their conference (FL was 13-3 in 2011, Syracuse was 17-1 this year), but won the conference tournament, and each knocked off a #1 seed (Ohio State, Michigan State) in the Sweet 16 by playing fierce defense.

Yep...as Al McGuire said on the UK basketball tradition: "They had it before you, they had it during you, and they'll have it after you're gone." And they had to take our old coach to get this success it took them much longer to achieve under him...a coach they hired specifically because of his legacy at UK.
