England needs more legacy players. Ashton is class and should have been a mainstay in the squad for years and had loads more caps. The frenetic chop and change of the team can be frustrating at times. Post 2003 we have struggled with this. We need to be better at identifying class international talent and sticking with players and letting them run up lots of appearances. I'm not a Ben Youngs hater but the fact he is our most capped player is crazy to me (particularly when Danny Care has been the best 9 in England for years). It would make breaking into the team more difficult but players would have less fear of getting dropped at the slightest mistake or transgression. We are our own worst enemy when it comes to things like this and I think we suffer from of abundance of talent that's "good enough" to play for England so we feel tempted to drop players and slot someone new in. Legacy teams are what win world cups at the end of the day. The most battle hardened squad of tightly knit players typically wins the silverware. We have Eddie for 2023 but the lack of cohesion and results coupled with the constant changing of the squad has left me with little hope for anything better than a 3rd place trophy in France.

Dont beat youself up over all this... I saw a interveiw with Shane Warne the other day where he said when one is young there is no map or book or what ever on how to do things or words to that affect! Good luck to you Chris

Lancaster and Farrel in the Irish set-up ever since. England doing bad in 2015 was a holy grail for Irish rugby. Like Conor O'Shea is for ye. You can clearly seen the benefits of his help to the grassroots in Italy.
