10/22 is probably the most popular firearm besides the AR. There are tons of aftermarket parts. If you do not feel comfortable (safe) just buy aftermarket trigger. This trigger job gives you the same feel as the BX ruger trigger pack. I wanted to make my wife’s 22 capibile of competing in NRL22 but cut corners where I know I could. I’m confident working on firearms. The first thing I do when I get them is rip them apart and learn how they operate. I was hesitant to post. I do not wanna give any irresponsible people any ideas that may cause an issue. I’m giving YT and my subscribers the benefit of doubt that are responsible. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMP IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH DISASSEMBLE OR ASSEMBLE LET ME KNOW AND ILL HELP YOU. THERE ARE ALSO TONS OF GOOD VIDEOS ON THIS SUBJECT. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe if you are interested in this type of information.

AS A GENERAL RULE DO NOT EVER FILE THE SEAR/HAMMER INTERFACES OF A FIREARM. UNLESS YOU HAVE A STONING FIXTURE AND EXPERIENCE, YOU WILL ACCIDENTALLY CHANGE THE ANGLES.... This can and will lead to the firearm discharging when knocked or dropped. If you take enough material away it will fire randomly and possibly in bursts

Thank you. I just took my 10/22 to the range for the first time in a long time. It was 3rd in the lineup, 1st was a M1917, then a flintlock with set triggers, finally the old 10/22. Wow, I forgot how horrible the factory trigger is.

After a trigger spring kit, the trigger was still rough. So after using the info here and one other video my trigger breaks and resets so much more cleanly. Thanks.

I've took this assembly apart about 50 times, trying to file these parts. Got it at 4.5lbs right now. Longgggg process!!!! That shit is HARD. I just hope I don't go past the hardened layer, because then they will wear over time.

I've been doing upgrades to my 10/22 for a while and I'm at the trigger stage and have been watching a number of VT video and reading the comments I have come to the conclusion that a trigger job by me is a no go, with that when I can come up with the money a TK drop-in trigger is the answer, all these videos have helped me a great deal.

says keep it flat while filing with often only one hand holding a tiney flexable made in china file, trying to file hardned surfaces, filing both forwards and backwards and sometimes only backwards, with the part clamped in a tiney wobbly vise, and coming at it from clear angles and almost never straight......dont post a video about modifying your firearm to a potentially dangrous condition if you dont know what your doing.

I don't ever post comments about videos but this is downright dangerous advice. Please please please take this down. You're rounding the contact surfaces off and creating an unstable, dangerous trigger. BTW, use a file in one direction only, and don't use files on triggers. Use stones and use a jig to keep everything perfectly square.
@jacquelynberry2789
@jacquelynberry2789 3 жыл бұрын
Little common sense goes a long way. I think if you under stand how the parts function there is little chance you will file the thing down to the point its dangerous. And from what ive seen its more likely you will just have hammer follow instead of any crazy misfires.

I messed a trigger up one time, on a Winchester rifle, by filing on the hammer and sear. Don't do it!!! It wouldn't cock the trigger anymore, after I did this. You are filing off the hardened part of the surface. Eventually it will wear, to where it is unusable. I'm not gonna do it....

Horrid. Poor file work. All the Dremel did was ruin any sharp edges there may have been. Just killed any 'break' that trigger may have had. Got mine sub 1lb with no files and no Dremel, just progressively finer grades of sand paper.

My 10/22 bought in 1979 has about a six pound pull. I think Ruger designed it that way for safety. Not sure a light trigger is a good idea on a semi auto field gun. A trigger shoe would improve the feel but that's as far as I'd go. Just my 2 cents.
@jstud999

@@jstud999 If you're correct could you explain this.....December 16, 2014 By Rifle Shooter Online Staff Ruger has announced the launch of a new drop-in replacement trigger assembly for all Ruger 10/22 rifles and Ruger 22 Charger pistols. The new Ruger BX-Trigger reduces the trigger pull weight from the factory-standard 6 pounds to a light and crisp pull of between 2.50 and 2.75 pounds. This seems to contradict you.
